Oh, I remember this game. It definitely has some enjoyable music and eye candy. Looks like a solid movie. Short and sweet, so I vote yes.

Although the Rockman TASes didn't peak my interest when I first started visiting the site, I'm hooked now. I think the most recent TASes of this game are essentially the site's premier videos because just when the viewer thinks the game cannot be taken any further, it is taken to yet another level. Excellent work!

I love seeing this game destroyed. I remember spending a summer trying to beat it with friends, but we finally got it.

I thought I was going to have a seizure it was so good. Also, I liked how you used the plane and options to spell out words :)

Entertainment wasn't really a big concern of mine. I was simply shooting for a faster time and a good score. Everything below is @ Phil: I think you'll find that the cross is rather cumbersome; it's far more cumbersome than holy water. It causes a lot of lag in certain parts of the game, and you cannot hit anything below you (such as skeleton pillars) without having to stop for a few frames. I thought the cross would be better for score hogging, but this wasn't the case after level 2. In level 3, it can cause lag on potential high scoring areas such as the first stage of that level with the two skeletons and the ravens (not to mention making it far more difficult to get the first skeleton to drop an amulet). Also, it's difficult or maybe impossible to hit those ravens with a cross/whip without losing frames. The only way that this could be made possible is if the frame rule is in the player's favor in this section and if eliminating lag is possible (I had no luck at this section). I could go on, but I think I you get the idea. If you're seriously thinking about making a new run, I might be able to help out. I'll be on IRC and checking the forums, and I'd love to chat CV with you. Morrison

If a movie gets denied publication simply for obscurity or a high boring factor, keep it dumped in the gruefood bin. But also make a page on the site that lists only movies denied for being too boring/obscure, add a link to their submission pages and maybe add a screenshot. There would be no avi's to save time/effort/site resources, and the page itself wouldn't take up much space at all since it would just provide site users with a link to the submission page that already exists. And in that submission page, one has all the information from the author and the ability to download the movie file. Think this be a good solution?

This route also avoids the possibility of getting the meat. If it takes more than one hit to get up there, Dracula will have to be faced with less than two critical strike opportunities. It would still make for a vast net improvement though. The only way I can think of making this jump work would be to use a memory poke to bypass the invulnerability time period, but that obviously can't be used in the movie. :(

As far as I'm concerned... 2001 has a great soundtrack, and it is very aesthetically appealing in a visual sense. Have to love that jump cut between the bone and the space ship. Millions of years in the blink of an eye. The character HAL 9000 is a unique villain. He's quite the anomaly. The enigmatic ending with the crazy warp stuff and star child is so out there. It's like an acid trip, the rebirth of humanity and a huge baby all rolled into one. This blew me away as a kid.

One major possible improvement I discussed with Morrison in IRC was trying to somehow cut the waiting time near the platforms in stage 10. I guess, currently we can't tell for sure if it is or isn't possible, but if it is, it would cut the game time to sub-11:30 at least.
I attempted this many times with no results. I cannot manipulate the platforms into spawning in a way you describe. I also attempted just go 'the normal way', but this was ~3 frames slower.

The roman numerals are multi-shot upgrades for the secondary weapons. Without the II and III items, only one secondary weapon can be on the screen at a time. For example, on Dracula, without holy water and a II, it would be impossible to stunlock him.

That's odd. Anyhow, I used Castlevania (KC) with the exact same rom name and checksum as Phil's.

1. No 2. Yes 3. Yes My girlfriend doesn't have too much patience with many video games, let alone TASing them.

I love my beer dark and bitter. Yarrrrr I used to drink vodka and other hard liquor as a teen, but nowadays I can hardly drink the hard stuff. Every now and then I can put away a shot or two of some whiskey, but only after a few beers. I also love margaritas.

This looks like a rather difficult game to fully optimize; a rather daunting first TAS submission for sure. I'm not too familiar with the game itself, so I won't vote, but you definitely inspired me to revisit the game. It looks and sounds a lot like A Boy and His Blob, which I thouroughly enjoy. Also, this is one of those games that I rented once as a kid, and I just never figured it out (I never got past the first level in fact), so going back and beating it should be amusing. Keep up the good work.

A Facebook tas group would be easy enough to create. Just make a a group called "Tasers" or "TasVideoPeople" and then have people join the group.
