From entering the room to the frame the drops appear, my fight is exactly 2324 frames slower, or 38.70 seconds. Not that bad of a loss.

Accoding to my rough calculation, it was much closer to ~33-35 seconds slower. People will just fast forward through the MB fight anyways.. >.> I dread that fight.

It is time.. For the ultimate in entertainment specialty, featuring both myself (NameSpoofer) and Saturn, we present: NameSpoofer's 14% SpeedBooster Ridley. With this AVI file, I declare that any statement regarding the words "ChargeBeam + Ridley + Slow + Boring" be banished and any user be burned under the platform in the pool of acid from which Samus defeated Ridley with the ChargeBeam. -----Special thanks to Saturn for helping optimize the K.O. grab, information on Ridley tactics in general, and for creating this Godly AVI demo. Will be uploaded to YouTube in the next few days when an issue is sorted out. Music: Sent to Destroy - CombiChrist Enjoy.

~15 frames faster now, and utilizes a *triple* kill with a single shot, using only 3 normal shots (to delay the hoppers) and 1 super to kill them all. Hero of the Day thought of this triple single shot kill idea and made it happen, but were keeping the same name. Now no missles are needed! In total, it is now a ~95 frame improvement to the 100%/RBO SuperSpooferShotv2 EDIT: Hah! 100% has Hi-Jump Bootz! This is now a triple digit improvment biatch.

I guess I will go ahead and spoil this. Special thx to Hero of the Day, obviously because he's the Hero, of the day. Also note that the PB trick at the start of the SMV was founded by Kriole, and included in this SMV just to make it look fresh and cool. GJGJKRIOLE! I dub it the SuperSpooferShot RBO/100% Improvement. (~80 frames: Get Owned Cpadolf!)

Not really. Super Metroid isn't specifically entiteled to 4 categories, and just because one disappears doesn't mean that another one can take its place just like that.

Is this going to warrant 14% runs their own category? I guess not because the site design hasn't changed.
I'm greatly hoping that the powerrangers, who seem to be nearly finished with Ridley, obselete both Hero's and Cpadolf's Any% by achieveing both the most optimal ingame clock (by mintues) while dominating the realtime as well. That would close the ingame any% down, leaving room for another category, assumptions are fun aren't they?

Don't get your hopes up for that. Even if it does beat Saturn's run (which according to his estimations of the speed v ice route, it won't, you never know though), the 14% category has been obsoleted. And his run has been up on the table twice without getting published, and that doesn't really have anything to do with it not being optimal.
Note that Saturn's run has been postponed and not rejected as of this time period. Doesn't matter, just because a run won't get published doesn't mean it shouldn't be done, so no, I really don't care much, still going to submit it anyways since its a super-run.

Is the Ice Beam 14% route faster or slower than the speed booster 14% route?
It's assumed faster, but I will probably beat Saturn's run due to major lack of optimization. Who knows, maybe the SB will be faster regardless.

Might get published.. >.> 3 E-tanks are to survive MotherBrain's Rainbow beam. The 5 missles and 15 supers (4% for those) are to break MotherBrain's glass shell/first form.

It won't become a new category here on the site though, as the whole 14% category has been obsoleted.
You mean it *may* or may not become categorized again.. If not, I'll send you to assassinate those who are responsible with your x-ray scope of doom. :( Anyways, more detail for the 14%: Obviously collects 14% in items, which can be varied. Defeats all 4 main bosses. The 2 different types, as Cp stated, are wether you choose to obtain the Ice Beam or the SpeedBooster as your 14th item. Saturn has recently released a 14% Ice Beam route TAS. It is un-optimized to today's standards, but still had some of the most insane tricks performed with a very optimal route. My route will be different considering I am obtaining the SpeedBooster, also much more optimized with all known implemented tricks/techs + my own 2c.

I see a lot of cool things in this thread, but is anyone here actually working on a TAS?
14% SpeedBooster TAS - Ingame oriented, fully optimal to known standards. (With newer ones still being generated) Progress - I'd say right around 45%, considering I've got 1 last geemer to manipulate and practically all the most delicate and hard manipulation is done. About to enter the Lower Norfair elevator, where I've already got a playthrough and all my room strats done and optimal, including the daunting new Pillar Room strat developed by Hero. After Ridley, (He's basically the last of the hardcore manipulation) I'll fly through Kraid and Draygon, then the Metroids will be the last of my manipulation problems. It's not even about optimizing anymore. The hardest part of TASing this game is getting things you need to drop. :S

Robot Metroid, created by DMantra (creator of CliffHanger/Eris at m2k2). Hands down the absolute best metroid video. Ever. Disagree-ing costs a body part from your uhm.. body.. Oh, progress is insanely nice, I'm now at the Red Brinstar Elevator and officially done with the WS. It is completely optimal to known standards, and all the drops were manipulated through minimal door lag. I lit the WS on fire.. Yeah!

Wouldn't have been better to enter the room with all 5 missiles? I could be wrong, but kriole's 1 rounder looks faster due to less movement from phantoon after HP hits zero. Either way, it was a pretty awesome demonstration.
I found a better use for the missle. I spent over 8 hours on the Phantoon fight (in 1 sitting, fuck me right?), starting from each useful pattern to testing all the flames per pattern, and after going to hell and back again, I'm quite satisfied with the fight, especially the drops. All frames have successfully been inserted into doors via equipment switching/shooting. Fuck Phantoon up the ass with a basketball pole with the hoop attached.
hero of the day wrote:
Have you shared your frame improvements with Kriole and Taco? I sure hope so :P
Ofc we did, me and Cp would basically share it the moment we found it, or in my case, when I remembered about it during a conversation with either of those pink&purple powerrangers. They also shared some goodies with us. Too bad they got suckered out of the deal because most of our finds cost more realtime frames to save ingame ones. Haha!

*Ahem* Attention please.. I guess I will go ahead and annouce this news that may make you want to commit suicide. After much discussion and debate between myself and Cpadolf, we have (officially) decided to drop the ingame oriented any% run. The reasons are as follows: -The realtime route will obtain the same endgame score of 00:23 minutes with only seconds behind the ingame route. -Below :23 won't happen until something new happens, such as the Maridia/Brinstar GG is opened. -We just felt like it. Gtfo. SMV won't be released until the 14% is done, obviously to keep the little 2-5 framers super sekret so the run ownz all! But the end of chapter 1 is the start of another.. or something. I have decided to create a 14% SpeedBooster TAS utilizing Saturn's original route with a Spoofified modification. After heavy testing, I can now fully back-up Saturn's facts that HBJ-ing over the lake is considerably faster, even for the speed booster route, by several seconds. With that closed, and the route finalized, I am now *past* Phantoon. The run is fully optimal to known standards, with new optimizations founded by me and Cpadolf during the any% to add more surprising value to it, some of the frames being in Crateria.. Oh yes, that is correct. Anyways, here is the Phantoon fight as a spoiler for the run. Uhm. Enjoy.
