Wow. As we can see, this is only possible with fully optimized luck manipulation to get every single refill drop from the lights.
Actually, I found a pattern during my own tests of doing this (before getting distracted by something else >.>) where Phantoon drops two flames before opening his eye, without losing any time. This could, theoretically, allow for an energy pick up at best, or another missle refill. I still have the SMV too. ^.^

Ahem, we still got buisness to take care of. >.> And Saturn posted an SMV that ended at the same place part 4 did on youtube. Silly Kriole =o

Ah, what I wouldn't do for an RBO category. =\ Tho, my recent RBO wouldn't be publishable due to the retarded mass amount of un-optimization. I would, however, jump on a new optimized RBO right away if a category were to open up for it. =S After the any% w/Cpadolf tho. Saturn's RBO won't be published (unless he were to start a new 1), and I won't think it will be finished either. Methinks me might drop it for a newer, more insane RBO. =\

Arguably the 14% run is a "non-glitched low%" (or is that 15%?). But from what Saturn was saying about the end of the run (I haven't yet watched the run myself), it sounds like he did use the glitch techs from the 6% run at the end, so I guess that's out.
Not quite. The 6% run skips motherbrain. Saturn skips the zebitites, and fights MB. Yes, it is a non-glitched 14% run. If you want to get technical, he did use 2 small glitches: Zebitite skip and reverse crumble jump just be4 Botwoon, but those aren't really considered glitches, just abuse. =)

It's all Cpadolf's and Hero's fault we don't have a legit 14% low cata anymore. =(

Yeah, I read up on all that awesome drama stuff. Eh, Since he did just barely break the 28 barrier, and I'd estimate a max of about 10 seconds assuming new improvements are found. Ofc, a better route choice could prove useful as well. =o He may actually be right on with that statement, ofc, I'm not 100% agreeing, just SEEMS likely. EDIT: Yo, make sure EVERYBODY reads Evilchen's post above. EVERYBODY MUST READ IT!@

Dam guys give Saturn his moment of glory, he did do some really amazing stuff. SMV-wise, yes it would be nice to have, but its his choice, and bitching at him obviously doesn't work. >.<

Uhh I didn't read the entire novel you wrote there Saturn but to burst your bubble me and Kriole got Phantoon in 1 round with 1 missle pack, not completely, but we deemed it possible after some tests. Furthermore, after me and Cpadolf had done Phantoon like 80 times in our any%, we he also agreed it could be done! =D Watched the entire run. Good freakin God Saturn, I deem you the God of manipulation. That run was so insanely awesome words cannot describe it. All your bombjumping was so amazing.. Just.. wow. >.< I also now know your sekret, it isn't more or less flawless, there are still many little mistakes myself and Taco found. (by yelling and screaming at each other while watching the run) Now Spoofer DEMANDS SMV now!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahhahahaha Oh the irony.. can't wait to see what argument this stirs up. Kriole will hate this.. luckily for you, I am against my good buddy here and I think an improvement is.. an improvement. Liked the camera angles slightly better, good messin with it. =)

I didn't think the camera angles were bad, aside from just 2 places. Good job on the improvements =o

Who all is encoding this run and making me an AVI!? Love this freakin game and I must see it AVI.. Haven't voted but I'm 99.99% sure it is going to be yes. There are just some games that don't meet people's taste. This game seems to have a few, for me, the games I cannot stand to watch are old school mario games.. So if you can't stand to watch this game, not your fault.. well it is.. but yeah.. It is, however, most definatly not a horrible game to TAS. You just do not like it.

Hurray! I 1-uped Taco's diagonal room framecount while still getting all the pick-ups, and now the best framecount is a nice even 290! Cpadolf's 100% diagonal room was 292, and Taco's best was 291. Click I also realize it is only a frame, but that is a tough room. =\ Edit: Also: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kriole?ob=1

Yeah I realize that MB would be reason why the route does not work perfectly. The only way it would work is if you could get into tourian with a full 10 power bombs. As for ridley, I think that using the PB wave combo saves more time than you give credit for. 160x10=1600/60 is 26.5 seconds plus 3.5 more seconds to kill with 10 super missiles. The total fight is around 30 seconds long. Using the charge/wave/ice/spazer is takes 40 shots at exactly 1 second a shot. Including the 10 super missiles the fight would be about 44 seconds long. That is a 14 second difference right there. Now getting to ridley with 10 power bombs is not much of a delay. At most you would need to collect is 5, but it should actually be less than that. I estimate 3. The eye door room would only require a 2-3 second delay to fully fill all the power bombs and super missiles. If you could get to MB with 10 power bombs (seems pretty difficult), then the loss of time in the fight would be pretty minimal. Doing 900 damage every 120 frames would cut her HP in half within 20 seconds. The last 9,000 hp would take 50 seconds using charged/wave/ice shots. The net loss would be 10 seconds. The gain from ridley pretty much cancels out the loss from MB. The time spent getting the spazer is about 20 seconds longer than the time spent getting the LN power bomb pack. So the route is not completely insane, it just requires that the Power bombs be replenished before tourian.
Pause screen of doom !? How will you fire off shields?? Took that into consideration?

Weren't you working on a Speed 14% run, NameSpoofer? What happened to that? (Or am I doing that thing where I remember things incorrectly?)
Yes, as Cpadolf said, I dropped it when I found some shortcuts via x-ray abuse for the RBO. Another reason was that it is very bad, 48.87(ouch) on Ceres I believe. That should give you an idea. I might take another shot at the 14% SB run if I can find a partner to do it with, much funner to do a run with somebody and it keeps me focused and motivated. Probably better now anyways now that I actually know what I'm doing. =o

Yes, I did have a reason at that point in time, but I cannot tell you now because I do not remember why. I should have taken that expansion instead of the one under the crumble bridge.

Right, so yeah, not too much blabbing. I guarantee that you will be stunned and shocked by my route choice, you will not know where I go next and why I do. Throughout the run, I got better, and kept feeling the need to start over, but didn't have enough motivation to do so, and when this happens, a run gets dropped. So there is somebody very awesome to thank here for getting on my back to complete this run: Kriole. He also did the Phantoon fight simply because I was too under motivated and disgusted with it, so thank you very much Kriole. Next person is Cpadolf. To keep it summed up: he taught me how to TAS from day 1 and has put up with me ever since, which is simply amazing. I know I wouldn't be able to stand myself for a task like that. Last 2 people are Saturn and Kejardon: I had asked Saturn for help with the KO grab from Ridley, and he had to re-do it 3-4 times due to energy/ammo management earlier in the fight, and I finally ended up getting one of my own that I was satisfied with. This run would def not be as shocking if not for Kejardon helping me with.. well, you should all know. =) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1864246507/SpooferRBO%21v1.smv *I got very lazy and that is why the end is so ugly and entertainless/unoptimized.* I think that is it. Enjoy? MAKE SURE YOU GUYS CHECK OUT M2K2 HACK SECTION CLIFFHANGER TO SEE WHAT ME AND KRIOLE ARE BREWIN! It only requires that really long botwoon skip, which also means early plasma is needed, but still.
I wasn't aware of any way of skipping botwoon. Is there an .smv of this?
2 ways, actually. 1 Saturn found that requires Gsuit: Beat Botwoon and escape his room before the wall completely comes down. If this happens, Botwoon is technically never killed. 2, get early plasma, and use some weird x-ray beam freezing thing that pushes you slowly forward in once of the rooms where the bugs fly up from the sand and fly towards you. I'll have Kriole scan M2K2 and the rest of the web until he finds it.

If you shoot the snail/knock it off something, it will start speeding, making it impossible to do that trick.

Well since you are optimizing for ingame time, you could perhaps change it's pattern by inducing lag at the door after getting spazer, or by simply pressing away the "spazer get" message box some frames later.
Or use that reverse tech Taco found where you shot at the door or something to save that 1 realtime frame at the spazer door.. unlikely but worth trying.. o.o
