Actually, upon further thought, it may be better to cancel and resubmit the new movie if this new trick significantly changes the run. It'd make it easier for the judges to get accurate audience feedback in case it changes drastically for the new run. Sorry for the confusion!

Settle down, you two. There's no reason to have this discussion in this thread, let alone in public. Take it to private messages, please.

To be honest im not sure what exactly you are looking for in terms of information, as I have never exactly taken part in a TAS. However if you have any more specific questions I would be happy to answer them right here, right now. However if it is a bit silly to ask me these questions without the emulator being ready then whenever the technology is acceptable to TAS on feel free to drop me a line. Zorplox on twitter, and twitch.
Everything you know works. Routes, glitch explanations, run tutorials... Treat it like you're teaching a new RTA runner about the run. Anything TAS-specific would have to be found when the TAS itself is being created, but before that it's easily possible for people to test and craft a route just by pooling together everything the RTA community has found. Some of the most useful information for us would be really inconsistent timesavers, "useless" glitches (that we could probably turn into something useful), weird unexplainable oddities... I mean, like I said, literally everything you know is helpful. It's not silly or anything to discuss the run before the emulators come about, especially considering that it may still be years off. We've had discussion threads running for very long periods of time without having the tools/stability available, and great things always come out of those threads.

are we just waiting for new software to be able to play ps2 games or something? and if so do you have any idea when it might be available?
It'll be a long while before PS2 TASing gets to the point where it's acceptable by the site. There's a PCSX2-rr floating around out there, but it's several years out of date and apparently a huge pain to use... Not to mention it's not accepted here as of yet. But of course, that's not going to stop us from preparing for the day when weeks upon months of effort churn out a proper, site-acceptable PCSX2-rr for us to get our greedy little mitts on. Feel free to post all the information you have about the game in this thread, as it'll be put to good use someday!

This run was made in the span of 3 hours, just as a way to warm myself back up. I've been working on a much more, I guess detailed run since posting that I'm putting more time into.
If that's the case, I would recommend cancelling this submission in favor of the new one you're working on, and posting your progress regularly on the forums for people to look at to make sure it's acceptable for the site.

Yeah, no need to cancel. I can replace the submission file once you post it.

This's mini game in SF Ex 2 Plus. Player must complete missions for unlock all secrets. All characters have different missions. For TASing, must complete all missions fast as possible. Okay, then yes, since it's a separate game mode, it has to be entertaining enough to make it to Moons. I would say waiting around for guard break/optimizing for in-game time does detract from the entertainment value. Real time looks a lot smoother and more entertaining to me, and for a fighting game run it needs all the entertainment it can get to sway people to voting Yes.

And once again, thank you kindly for sync verification. Once I get my PC repaired, Dolphin submissions should go a lot easier for me. DwainiumB, what's your goal choice for this run? Looking at the game thread, it appears to be speed, but looking at the submission it appears to be entertainment. Having it made clear would help me make a more confident decision. I'll hold off on judgement for another day or so. I'd still like some more public feedback for this. I asked around on IRC and the consensus seemed to be "too repetitive", but I'd like to see more reflection in the votes/thread posts.

I just tested it and got it to sync past frame 14000. My settings are no memory cards and DSP LLE recompiler with the official DSP ROMs. Just to be safe, I have it paused while I'm in my browser typing this, so I'll get back to it.
Aaaaand thank you again! If you could post a screenshot of the finished run, that would be lovely.

Man, it's weird to include myself in that. Could someone explain this game mode for people (like me) that don't understand what it is? Would this be considered any% for this game? If not, then the run would have to be entertaining enough to make Moons, and personally I had more fun watching the real-time version over the in-game time version.

I'd like a bit more audience feedback on this before I make a decision. It seems good so far, but a few more votes/comments in the thread definitely wouldn't hurt. EDIT: I'm getting consistent desyncs with this, around frame 14000. If anyone aside from the author can get it to sync on their end, that would be lovely.

Hi there, tormented. I'll be handling judging your submission. Should you find any improvements, post the updated movie file here and I'll get right to judging! If you don't think you'll finish soon, I can set the submission to Delayed in the meantime.

Hi there, welcome to TASVideos! Unfortunately, this run doesn't appear to be up to our site's standards of perfection. Super Mario World is very hotly contested and has been thoroughly optimized by a large group of people who will no doubt be posting in this thread sooner or later. ROM hacks are also subject to fierce scrutiny, and need to be extremely polished/notably different enough from the base game to warrant publication. I highly suggest posting your future runs to the site's Userfiles section, so that other people may check them out before you submit them. If you want to improve your TASing skills, we have several guidelines, resources, and entire sections of the forum dedicated to helping newcomers out. If you want to continue with Super Mario World or one of its hacks, I definitely recommend reading through the game's forum thread, as well as the heavily fleshed out Game Resources page. Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

Who would feel good about a walkathon TAS of this game?

I doubt it would be accepted. Walkathon in SMB1 is a novel goal, but anywhere else it just doesn't make any sense.
It's been said in the past that walkathons for other games would not be accepted since the category was a joke in the first place.

1. I doubt it would be accepted. Walkathon in SMB1 is a novel goal, but anywhere else it just doesn't make any sense. 2. Instead of just starting a new run with reckless abandon, could you read through this thread and address some of our concerns and suggestions?

I understand the category is extremely arbitrary, it would be cool if it was published but I understand there are plenty of legitimate reasons against it. My goal was to entertain and it looks like I more or less achieved that.
Unironically, I really appreciate this kind of attitude. From what I understand, OoT is a pain to TAS and especially optimize, and even with the small problems it was still a really good effort.

Seemed fairly repetitive all throughout. I liked the move variety for the first 10-15 minutes or so, then my enthusiasm dwindled once I realized I still had over half the movie to go. You did a good job making the run as entertaining as you could, but the game just went on too long for me. Gonna give this one a high Meh vote, if only because the Ludacris fight reminded me of this: Link to video

Long story short, I dun goofed. In my previous testing I activated an AR code that made my hit box smaller. Even after turning it off, it still stays active in the game (I wasn't aware of this). Something to do with changing the assembly code and physics engine, idk, it's a little over my head. Anyway, once testing with a clean save (nothing but moon jump activated) it didn't seem to work. The post is removed, I deleted the vids, and am getting a lot of heat from people thinking I've made some elaborate ruse. I made a mistake, sorry
