"電源ON~ガノン撃破まで48分27秒00" seems to translate to "48min27s from power-on until last hit on Ganon". So timing was done the same way in both OoT and MM. While confusing at first, it's just the way he times his runs so I wouldn't frown upon abeshi...
He didn't time that way in his OoT TAS that was published here. (even way before he submitted it here) So he does know how to time TASes properly and he did it when there was no real competition around.

What the fuck do you even remotely know about his motives to call him a fraud? Has he submitted his run here? Has he said his run is currently the world record (tas)? No, so shut your piehole.
Did the truth hurt your feelings? I'm so very very sorry.

Did you even watch ANYTHING of the movie? It's nothing like Bloob's TAS, and you would notice if you had watched it.
Uh would you care to show me big differences? Thanks.

He likes to do that to get better times. He did the same with MM. Well not exactly the same. There he timed to the last hit to Majora. Here he timed to the last input but cut out the intro. So he clearly knows how to time but choses not to. He is such a fraud.

abeshi copying all the inputs of bloobs TAS onto a japanese rom to get 8 minutes faster? Yeah we know.

The irony was intended. As for 'stupid questions', if you aren't going to handle answering someone properly then don't bother doing it at all. Not everyone keeps tabs on emulator development, nor should they need to.
You don't need to to know about emulator devleopment, to know that a DS emulator won't be able to emulate 3DS games. You just need a little shred of common sense for that. So yeah it was the stupidest question ever asked. Or certainly one of the stupidest.

How is this magically going to make people focus on OoT. Bloob has no time to improve his un, swordless is too lazy to actually do a new MST. Nobody else wants to actually do full TASes of that game.

Oh, The Shooting Star, huh? That bike is actually fairly decent, but not as fast as the Bowser Bike. And that video made me want to crawl out of my skin, SirVG.
Now I feel stupid. It actually was the Bowser Bike I just wasn't remembering it correctly. But she actually does have a faster bike that she gets later in the game. It's just that the drifting is horrible on it and the miniturbo (which TAS would use a lot no doubt) is basically nonexistent.

And anyway, Rosalina is anything but slow once she gets the Bowser Bike. When I gave a damn about playing the game online against other people, I repeatedly stomped them with her.

But dumps usually vary a little. So either the [!] really is a perfect dump or Nintendo just took it off the internet. It's not like they wouldn't be allowed to... I'm pretty sure it would be really unlikely to have the same checksum if they used an old rom they had lying around. Usually at least headers or something differ. But ofcourse I have been known to be wrong. :D Furthermore would they even have a rom lying around? If not they would have to either recompile it or dump it from a cartridge themself. We know it's not recmpiled, sicne the built date and checksum are the same...

If the emulator itself crashes, yes, then it's just bad coding that happen to give the same "effect" as doing the trick on console. Sadly N64 emulation is not too great, with any emulator, I might take a whack at making a N64 TAS emulator in a year or so but I won't promise anything. (I am trying to learn how to code good emulators right now) For the emulator in emulator, the way I understand it it's just a wrapper, not a complete emulator, either way, it's the way it's played on console so why not? :P
No it's a complete emulator, both with GC and VC. There are perfectly normal N64 roms in there. Funny enough the rom in the VC wad actually has the same checksum as the U[!] rom you can find on the internet. So it could very well be that Nintendo downloaded it from a rom site for their VC release, which is pretty fun imo. These roms couldn't be played on GC or VC unless there was a complete emulator attached to them. I guess TASing N64 in Wii cold be fun. :D Somebody should try it sometime. But since TAS is timed from power on it would add a few seconds.

Since emulators are supposed to mimic the consoles as good as they possibly can it's safe to say that Mupen does exactly what it's supposed to and crashes the ROM when you attempt a stick on B as adult. (Just as the real N64 crashes the game)
But it doesn't crash the rom, it crashes the emulator, which I would categorize under bad coding. In no case should the emulator crash. And well you could also argument that it's a hardware bug in the N64, which the developers had to work around and which was fixed in GC and VC versions. If you are a bastard like me that is. ;)
Since the VC and GC version does not behave like this it's a newly introduced glitch in the emulation wrapper (VC version) or in the ported code (GC version). Since either is done by Nintendo themselves it should be allowed to abuse that glitch in a TAS done on one of these versions. If the glitches currently used in the OoT run can be done on the VC and/or GC version, or this glitch saves more time than it costs to not have access to a different glitch, then it would be interesting to switch to that version for future revisions of OoT TASes.
Like I said it doesn't have anything to do with the roms, but the emulators. Which means you would have to run the VC emulator in Dolphin to use these glitches. Probably possible, but kinda overkill, don't you think?

If it crashes on the real N64 it's an emulation error in PJ64 and should not work in Mupen.
Well GC and VC are also official Nintendo versions and there it works. So I guess it depends on what your definition of error is.
However, this might be a valid reason to be TASing the GC or VC version in the future as it has more interesting glitches.
VC is just 1.2 in an emulator. GC is somewhat changed, but in mupen the rom will also crash with stick on B. Ofcourse you could go for max absurdity and TAS the VC version in Dolphin. XD

Well it is on GC, VC and PJ64. Mupen and N64 crash.

We actually had a very nice route idea for any%, but it would require Deku Stick on B as adault. Can somebody fix that in mupen? XD Or at least combine the reset recording mupen with the pause bug fix mupen? That would be nice.

I actually got it to sync so I guess I'll take it all back. Since it desynced after the reset I guess I just assumed it would be as horrible as the Perfect Dark TAS were basiclly nobody could sync it. My bad.

I hate these reset TASes. I can never get them to synch and I think I'm in the majority there. Imo these TASes shouldn't be made until there is a more reliable version of mupen. How good this run is? I can't tell...

Well actually the japanese FF versions are usually just as easy as the US versions. They only ramp up the difficulty for international and PAL for some reason.

Hm yeah the comments do indeed say that. May be version differences. Square games are notorious for making stuff harder in international and PAL versions. For exmple making Ruby Weapon imune to KOTR unless you Hades it first in FFVII and adding all the dark Aeons to FFX.

I especially enjoyed that I figured out how to get the end without 'rolling' for it. Note that it comes up as the first spell. If Selphie gains any levels, I may not be able to pull the same trick anyway.
And how did you get it?
Also, if this FAQ is to be believed, Ultimecia's final form (and earlier?) is invincible to 'The End.' However, after Ultimecia is 'dead', and you just need to trigger the final speech, 'The End' can be used to trigger it, which would be funny, but extremely time intensive, when 1 damage would be enough to trigger it.
Uh either you or I read that guide wrong. It says that all form of Ultimecia are vunerable to "the end".

I wonder how many flame wars certain N64 games have created here (and how many they will start in the future).
I don't know, but if you were to boil water on the flames created by these wars you could supply a small contry with energy, indefinitely. I find these new camera angles very fun. It's something fresh in a game that I have seen a thousand TASes of. It would be a shame if this run wouldn't be published.

So no problem then should barriere skip ever be discovered. good.
-Going into the Puppet Ganon battle will give you the fully charged Master Sword and Mirror Shield, for whatever reason.
Probably for beta testing reasons. You usually have to have that stuff so they never took it out.

At 0:50 might it not be faster to take the downstairs way and the right latter to not have to wait for these 3 second bombs?
