I'm starting to think it might just be better to use the 1.2 version so we can get the Deku Stick on B. At least that would provide backup and would be faster because of overall less lag.
So does anybody know for sure if Deku Stick on B works with the 1.2 GC-version of OoT and if it does, why not use it?

how can u guys be so sure it's possible without ISG? I want to be a bit cocky now and say: PROOF OR GTFO
It's to 99% possible, since ISG does nothing else than letting you get as close to the edge as poissble, without you having to worry that you fall off. Obviously a TAS could do the same without ISG, it is just really fucking hard.

I'm sure it's possible to get over there without ISG. You jsut have to be pixel perfect and that should be possible for a TAS. You are all talented guys, so why don't you test it? o.O

Hey VLC is a really good player. :P Your encode of bloobs run played fine on it, so jsut make the version with cutscenes the standard next time. I got it to work by installing Haali. Btw. what's the point in having the cutscene free version when you didn't cut them out in the 2nd cycle? The major cutscenes alone in there amount to 8:30. I guess I'm going to have to check out the not-youtube-encode of Mukkis run and see if there are cracks there. If not I guess I'm screwed. I don't know the first thing about compiling programs on Linux...

Hmm your vid doesn't work in VLC at all and in MPC it just plays like normal. I guess I would need a special splitter? Btw. I noticed those cracks in the audio in all 3 of our encodes, but there are none in the encode of Mukkis TAS. At least I couldn't make out any in the youtube-version. So any idea how to get rid of them?

Sorry that I made such a big fuss about it. I really thought Grunz would have a problem with it. Well in this case: for online viewing: http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?link=mm/runs/mmanywip password: "Grunz is a guay!" and direct link to the video-file would be: http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/MManypercWIP/grunzany.mp4 Btw. there are frequent (not very loud) cracks in the audio. Any tips how I could get rid of those?

near frame ~90 000, you have to wait a little while for the bomb marchant come... do you think that you could do a little dance there, while waiting?
First of all you can't move with the textbox open, but even if you could: The Bombshop (along with Fairy Fountains, swamp and GBT) is desynch central. So you count your blessings if you made it perfectly through and don't start messing around in it.

This is a great run so far, and very entertaining. The only concern I have is the low health warning beeps. How long is that going to go on?
About 10 more seconds. ;) He is going to drop a few frames and get the fairy in the pots next to the owl statue (the only speed-entertainment tradeoff in the whole run).

Sorry, didnt know it was that much of a problem, there have been encodes of WIPs for all kind of games even Mukkis first MM TAS and noone ever complained. but since you know him better then me I took it down, laschoking :P
Argh sag nicht diesen Namen! *Rocko miem* :D It's just MM is a really high profile run and if Grunz wanted for it to end up on youtube he would have uploaded it himself. I mean this is a public forum, everybody can lurk here. Thanks for taking it down until he comes back and can say for himself what he thinks about it. Btw. what graphics plugin did you use? That's not Jabos 1.6.

I really don't think Grunz had an encode in mind when he uploaded his WIP. Those get into the wrong hands way to quickly and before you know it's plastered all over youtube. So please penisbird take it down until Grunz comes back from vacation and can comment on it himself.

Wow, that was a fantastic WIP, I loved every second of it. I hope you are kind enough to treat us to more as you progress. P.S. I noticed that you viewed the Deku transformation before rescuing the monkey, this is unnecessary. If you put on a transformation mask for the first time while wearing another transformation mask the small cutscene can be skipped. It may save a little time, but you'd need to shake around the item planning a little.
Oh so that's the skipped cutscene Soulcal was talking about in his any% run. But I don't think that it would help in this case. It would ad some swaping around of items, since he needs bombs next and putting on the Zora mask. I think it would be about even in the end.

At the moment it's 0:34 at the SoA monkey. So 1:30 is cutting it really close but could be possible. ^^

Are there aditional command line switches for mupen rerecording and if yes where can I find them? I'm building a batchfile and a switch that automatically loads a m64 and can toggle read only would be great. Is there such a switch?

Is there any singular compiled source of the TAS tricks and skills and MM breaks that've been found? It would go a long way towards encouraging new blood to take on these games... and sifting through over 100 pages reads like a big sign that says "run away."
http://zeldaspeedrun.dreamhosters.com/mm/ Still under construction though. Anybody can help building this thing, so if any of you know about glitches or SBs you can write pages. It would be really apreciated.

I don't think any one of the two is going to pick it up again and there aren't any 3D-Zelda-TASers left, so unless someone completely new comes foreward and takes over I guess we will never see a new MM-TAS.

Yeah nobody is doing the TAS anymore. Swordless has given up and Grunz is too deep in OoT to take over...

I don't think there is any Luckmanipulation in the adault-part. You would probably have to redo the Ganon fight but that should be all... Though I concur that SL should do MM first. But I haven't seen him in a while anyway. My theorie is that Lostzilla ate him on the flight back to the UK... :D

Yeah you guys should really face it by now. Mupen+ is not coming. You can wait another 99 years and the TAS still won't be complete because of the missing reset. Just do the run now and should mupen+ ever come out (which I highly doubt) you can still just redo the child part and hex in the adault part. Not _that_ big of a deal.

Yeah ofcourse. But we can hope and work towards, that the number of people that commit crimes is as low as possible. There will always be murders out of passion for example. But we can work towards that murders out of compulsion or need for money decline. Murders out of compulsion stem from a screwed up psyche. When we start to prevent violence against childreen those numbers will go down. Murders for money stem from the unfair distributing of resources. Once we distribute them fairer those murders will decline. The world will never be an utopia, but we can work towards making it as good as we can.

Because they killed civilians,
Their main target was not the civilians, that's the point.
Yeah but if we are honest. They are so bad at what they do they might as well be... A lot of civilian deaths over there could have been prevented if the training of your army was better...

A bunch of faggots came to my school last month with the same views as you. Naive and highly optimistic. The bullshit they were feeding us was ridiculous. Apparently we're going to have this massive paradigm shift and we're all going to live happily ever after in an ecologically sustainable world. The truth is that's bullshit. Crime is not suddenly going to erase itself. People will still be greedy and teenagers will still commit acts of vandalism. Although humanism (and religion) is a step you can take to better yourself and the world, your views are not going to be the same as everyone else's, and there is bound to be some conflict. I think we should just be thankful for the world that we're in instead of whining about how it could be better.
Well I can only speak for Germany and the USA, but crime rates have been steadily declining over the past few decades. It's just that you see a lot more in the media now adays because of the 24 hour news channels...

Have you considered if preventing immoral individuals or other people who fail (for a lack of smartness) to come to that logical conclusion from passing on their genes would be a valid act of bettering our society?
First of all that would be imoral (moral is nothing religeon has exclusive rights on). But second of all we really don't have to. Like I said crime rates are declining and people are getting smarter (1 IQ point every ten years) all by themselfs. That there are certain genes that make you evil has been pretty much debunked anyway. First and foremost it's circumstance. The less chance you have in life, the more likely it is that you will become a criminal. That's why you have a lot more in the USA than in european countrys. The land of the free doesn't really treat the weak members of society well...
