Isn't e-mail basically the (de facto) standard for online interviewing?
Perhaps it is, but it won't allow me to follow up questions, which would make the interview a bit limiting.

As the topic states, we're doing a project on professions, and obviously I picked programmers. Part of the project is interviewing someone with the profession we've picked, and I figured this community boasted quite a few. So is anyone up for doing one? I'd preferably do it via IRC, though MSN or AIM is fine too. I could do it through e-mail too, but that's pushing it. I'd be very grateful if anyone with experience would take his or her time to do this! P.S. This would have to be done tomorrow or this Saturday.

Whew, I certainly wasn't expecting this. By the first two worlds, do you mean the first two stages or the zones (in this case it would be greenlands and the forest)? Either way I have no idea what you could've done as I to my knowledge never stop moving in either of them except in the cave, though I can see no possible improvements there. Any hints?

I've played the game before, but I don't understand any of these acronyms. :P I'm too lazy to set up the N64 emulator stuff, so I'll just wait it out. I actually had no idea this was being done, and I'm pleased that it is. Coincidently, I've been watching the current 120 star TAS (taking breaks after getting bored) and it's pretty cool, but I wish it was a bit more interesting. I guess since we've seen all of the tricks now, it isn't as fun to watch a second time. The bowser stages aren't as cool either due to having to get the red coins.
If you think all the tricks and routes are just being optimised movement-wise, you're wrong. The majority of the stars (will) have reworked strategies. Only in this WIP every single star was done in a different way (except both PSS and the aquarium, but I won't count them as they're too linear).

Jeez, enough with the elitism already. He didn't know, alright? Not liking this attitude.

Now that I have finished Tiny Toons, I figured I'd pick this project back up. With more motivation to do it, I managed to save over 300 frames (~90 thanks to Tompa). The movie is around the same length as the previous one, however I go to the options and remove cutscenes, which will save me time in the long run. I also made som stylistic choices like not taking damage when I could avoid it, which I to be honest didn't bother with before. Without further ado, here is the WIP for level 1. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1669160637/Metal%20Warriors%20%28US%29.smv

First you start the ROM. Then you click Utilities -> Movie -> Start movie playback, and you select your desired movie. Then wait. If the game starts acting weird, you probably don't have the same plugins selected as the runner. You can see these in the window where you select the movie.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. However I was more of looking for a good way to present any subject, rather than which ones to pick from.

Our class recently finished an acoustics project, and we now are going to do a sound demonstration in front of the class. Basically show and tell for 5 minutes. I've been searching all over the net, but I can't find anything suitable for 8th grade (age 14-15). It can't be too easy as I want a good grade on this. Any ideas or links to sites are appreciated. :)

I actually own Ocarina of time four times D: N64 original cartridge OoT/MQ disk for GC 2x Collectors edition (this is because they somehow delivered me two of these, when I paid for one :) ) Also I have: HL1 2x (no idea why) Counter-strike x3 (two through HL1, and one from CS anthology) Starcraft 3x (lost first CD-key, second package didn't have any CD-key, and we didn't bother to report it to the store, and then a third one to actually play) WoW 2x (both me and my brother played) Baldur's Gate 2x (first set of CDs were scratched)

I'm sorry to say it, but the game looks exceptionally boring. Unless the later levels feature something more exciting, I would doubt think this game would hold up in the queue.

Considering how this is a very long going project it might be nice to not only post screenshots but also a video of some random single star a little now and then, like a teaser but alot more fun then a screenshot yet nowhere near as revealing as a WIP?

At any keypoint of a movie, I make a "rewind" savestate, manually. This is usually save state 1 in the emulator. So whenever I need to redo something within the period of that state and the current frame, I press shift+8 (usually that's the shortcut for read-only) and I load the "rewind" state. When I think I've optimised a part of the movie, I put a new "rewind" state and keep playing. It really is that easy.

In my opinion real speedruns offer more choices as you have to choose from which tricks you can preform consistently and which ones you can't.

I'll put this as not-bluntly as I can: don't run this game. Seriously consider starting with something easier, like a NES or SNES game. Doing this run is far from easy, luck manipulation is HELL. As I and Tompa already have optimised the WIP almost as much as possible, you're going to have a very hard time beating the time when you don't know the most fundamental parts of TASing, like memory watching, luck manipulation and frame advance! I'm sorry to break it to you, but you will fail this.
