[1867] Arcade Metal Slug 4 "2 players" by X2poet in 17:11.97[1841] Arcade Metal Slug 4 "2 players" by X2poet in 18:04.78
These movies are currently labeled as "2 players, best ending", however I wonder if it's really worth to include the "best ending part", as it's kind of trivial: after beating the last boss, if you manage to run out of the base before it collapses, you get the happy ending cinematic. So it's possible to simply stop inputs right after beating the boss, that would save some time but leave all the rest of the movie the same. So it in the end it would be a redundant to include such a branch, it's more an entertainment/tradeoff. What do you think about it?

That's already allowed to non-staff people. All you need to know is ask to be given the Vested Editor role, then you can edit movie tags all you want. Btw I personally think it's good to keep it working this way.

No, I'm not suggesting to duplicate their meaning, I'm asking to replace these two tags altogether with two new flags. Since these two affect class-eligibility as you wrote, that's exactly why they should be given special emphasis, and not being put together with trivial aspects of a movie, that are all the other tags.
Also, I don't think that "people don't pay attention" when the interface simply is cluttered and confusing, and could be improved in many ways.

I used to consider the fastest-completion flag as useless, but after the recent changes I think it's actually crucial. I also suggest to implement flags for denoting full-completion and forgoes major skip glitch. I know that it's already showed by movie tags, but I think that a flag would do the job better, for the sake of making the branch list look clearer.

Sound weird. Well, looking at how many botched GB games are there, I wouldn't be surprised to be the case, but did you check if these graphical issues are there on real console as well?

I'm not yet entirely convinced this should be the preferred version for this submission, so this shouldn't replace the movie file, at least yet.

Some people don't like SGB because it plays at a slightly faster framerate than actual GB/C, leading to misleading record comparisons. However, that would not be the case for SGB2, as it uses an internal clock faithful to actual GB/C speed. Why not implementing SGB2 emulation?

That's one link to one page containing everything. Not links to pages containing specific lists.
Yeah but I mean, when there were two separate lists before, each had a separate link to its own extended list of published movies, chronologically ordered from the most recent.

Still, I think that the list of recently published movies should be more informative, by displaying the movie flags. Except for the fastest-completion flag, for which I'd rather suggest to have a separate list for it, as well as a separate list for full-completion. That way, there would be three lists of recently published movies: fastest-completion, full-completion, Moons (or "other-goals"). Opinions?
I would support having links to those specific lists, presented on their respective pages.
Wasn't that there already? There's this "More..." link at the end of publication list in the home.

I see my suggestion was ignored. Can anyone please at least implement the Moons icons? As the site is now, it's only displaying Stars icons, effectively putting Moons tier on the same visibility as the new Standards tier. We don't want to hide Moons just to make the lowest tier look less crappy, so pretty please implement the Moons icon in the recent publications list.
The problem is that it would make the Moons class look special again, kinda above Standard which doesn't have an icon. The two classes are equal now. Stars are above both, so they are highlighted.

This is missing the point of the revamp altogether. Standard is not the lowest class, movies can be accepted to that class regardless of entertainment. Moons is exclusively for movies with odd goals or odd games. Read Movie Rules / History for details.
Sorry if I sounded aggressive, I was concerned and jumped to conclusions.
I see there was quite a huge change in how things work. It's very revolutionary, but I don't see problems with it. Well done.

I'm not sure Fastest Completion is necessary, at least not right away. Perhaps as more categories are published, this will become a more notable flag. Of the 106 non-obsoleted movies published this year, 67% of them have this flag.
In my opinion Fastest Completion is the only flag that makes it cluttered, and I think it would be perfect without that one.

From the start, I've been unhappy about the fate of this submission, and it bugged me for years that I couldn't make it accepted. But now, after a lot of team work and improvements of the rules, it's finally happening! I consider this as my last contribute as a judge, and I'm very proud of it. Thank you to everyone who also contributed to this progress, it wouldn't have been possible without the rest of the staff and the community!

Can I request a debate thread being made by a judge so I can read the staff's thoughts about the rule changes and reword and submit my post there?
I was the one who proposed to un-reject Math Blaster again. I suggested it in a staff discussion, some months ago, while I was still a judge. My idea sparkled after the discussion about game triviality and TAS triviality, resulted from the judgement of Zool. I was also the one who came to the idea of defining game triviality on the basis of existing TASing precedents: to put it simply, any game is considered trivial until a non-trivial TAS record is made. Then, even if a further improvement happens to result trivial, that new TAS will be accept anyway because of the precedent set by the previous non-trivial publication. In regard of Math Blaster, I simply figured out that there was no need to ban educational games anymore, as the rule introduced with Zool did finally allow to define objectively if a game is TAS-worhy or not. I think there isn't much else to say about it.

I will have to resubmit however as I've found a 1 frame improvement for Marth. I will continue to check in case that isn't the last frame I find, and will keep you all posted.
Please don't make a new submission, the staff can replace the movie file of the current submission instead. You just need to upload your new movie file to the userfile storage: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/my#upload

The main problem I'm seeing with this is simply the "no memory corruption" part of the branch. This restriction ends up extending the run by around an hour, and there is already an RTA run with the memory corruption glitches this TAS avoids, so in no way can this TAS be accepted to the Vault under full completion (it does not beat RTA records).
What do those corruption glitches used by RTA consist in?
