File replaced, I apologize for the wait.
Is there anyone else who is against ending inputs early? If so, please explain why you prefer to have the input aiming for in-game time.
Edit: Since the game refers to the mode as just "Tournament", I changed the label for this submission in order to remove the "Mode" word. Same for the published movie [2524] PSX Tobal 2 "Quest Mode" by pirohiko in 03:41.17.

Making a new TAS is turning out much harder than I thought.
After some testing, I got pretty sure that the zips showcased in the video by Matt Shepcar that I posted above can only be achieved by using a bot. Entering inside a wall (with some exceptions in some levels) requires a precise balance of subpixel position, Helirin angulation, knockback speed, and knockback angulation. I tried hard to reproduce it with trial and error in TAStudio, but I couldn't make it even once. Only the inputs that I copied from the video worked.
Now, Matt Shepcar mentioned in his incomplete tutorial about the A* search algorithm, which is probably what he used for making his incomplete TAS, so I think that the best course of action would be to write a good brute-forcing lua script that makes use of this kind of algorithm. I already wrote a couple of brute forcing scripts for other things a year ago, but these were much simpler compared to what it's necessary for TASing this game, and right now I also lack the time and will to work on it... sorry.

Legit question. Even though there aren't many ratings for the current publication, I decided to accept this submission as a new branch, since I think that the game is enough popular. I did edit my judgment note in order to make it clearer.
In any case, I have to note that the obsoletion chain can be changed anytime if new ratings on the current publication will prove me wrong.

Nice movie, I liked the movements in sync with the music and the playarounds in general. Yes vote!
Also, the game itself has well-made graphics and cool music. It's indeed exotic for more than one reason, but it looks like a good game to me nonetheless.

If you think about it, the "feeling of suboptimality" in this case is subjective, because it depends on the fact that the watcher is aware or not that avoiding the coins does make the movie faster afterwards. There are a lot of cases where taking a detour can save more time than what it loses, and it's usually abused, unless the vast majority of the community prefers a movie that aims for in-game time rather than real time (shortest input); in other words what feos said.
Fore example, Super Mario Bros "all items" picks up some coins, because it's necessary for accessing certain items afterwards, as explained in the submission text. Some people watching this video were confused, as they noticed that the author picks up some coins but leaves others, however if you're aware of which are the specific coins needed for achieving the goal, then it looks perfectly optimal.

I apologize for everyone that was looking forward for our team's movie. Sadly, real life problems got in the way...
Anyway, I'd like to partake to the creation of the final movie file to submit to the site, if there is any help needed.

Since this movie syncs perfectly on BizHawk, I could replace the movie file of this submission with a .bk2 conversion. This is not a requirement, and the decision is up to the author. Archanfel, do you agree?

From what I can understand, there would be no problems for TASing in general, as it is considerable as a kind of play with its own creative input. However, it could be a problem in case Nintendo requires the gameplay video to be specifically recorded with official "Nintendo system features", as TASing is necessarily played through emulators.
By the way, there's something I think is more likely to cause problems, specifically for videos of ROM hacks and bootlegs (bold mine):
A11: Examples of unlawful, infringing, or inappropriate content include, but are not limited to, content that incorporates Nintendo intellectual property and:
Violates applicable laws;
Infringes the intellectual property rights of Nintendo; and/or

This game is beautiful and the run is well executed, however the movie doesn't feature anything that makes it clear that it's a form of tool-assisted gameplay. I don't find it boring, but on the other hand there is nothing surprising happening in the whole movie.
Despite currently having 4 Yes votes and 1 Meh vote, no one did write a post with their thoughts about this movie. Can I please have some opinions?

I found a problem with level 4 (Quidditch). Around frame 8080, you go left and then right, probably because you thought it was necessary for triggering the level loop... but from my tests it's a complete waste of time. I've both tried going all the way right or all the way left in order to reach the fourth Snitch, and in both cases I've saved about 4 seconds. Also, I don't see why you did didn't run on the ground, rather than travelling on the platforms.
Could you please take a look and fix it? I may help you if you want.

Yet again great movie! And thank you for a new commentary.
I think that at this point we can start discussing about the movie label. The main problem is that, technically speaking, we already have a published run that does also not corrupt save data: [3664] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version by TiKevin83 in 1:36:41.68
Then I have to note that it's more appropriate to have a label that tells what the main feature of the movie is, and not what the movie is not. In this case it should be "game end glitch" rather than "warp glitch". If none of these are enough appropriate for describing the glitch used, then we could come up with something more specific.

As for ThunderAxe31's excellent question about obsoletion due to content repetition, I believe the core of the issue is due to an edge case in current definitions of tiers. If we didn't have the Vault tier, obsoletion would be obvious as this submission has more content. With the current Vault tier definition, we could argue that either the old movie should only be downgraded from Moon to Vault as it's still the fastest completion record, or to obsolete anyway because the old movie falls into the single level exclusion for fastest completion. I believe the correct choice here is obsoletion, as the level select option could be seen as skipping progression without the need of a password or cheat. In either case, I recommend an updated definition to clarify said edge case with whatever option is applied here.
No, it's not a problem about Tiers, but about goals. If a movie goal is already fulfilled by another movie (and results in redundant gameplay contents), then there is no reason to have both published, regardless of the Tier. Read this judgement note for more details.
By the way, we need to discuss about the label for this movie. It's currently "LV00-LV20", but I think that we should opt for something more universal like "all levels".

I don't think the game was intended by the developers to be beaten without collecting all pre-spawned friends. Thus no "official any% vs official 100%": they would just be the same.

Rescuing them isn't optional in this game outside of glitches. Before the glitch was found, full completion definition for this game was non-existent. It can't magically appear from the fact that we can now glitch the friends.
Ok, I understood.

Actually we only used pink friend glitch in total 17 stages. This ratio is not very high. So if we add 100%, the two TAS will be the same in most stages. Of course, if you want to add it, I will did this TAS again.
No, 17 are too few vs 56 stages, I don't think that it would be worth for an additional branch. Thanks for the offert though.
Great TAS by the way, I really enjoyed watching it.
