Is anyone working on combining the improvements for a final submission to the site?

Congratulations to cyberpotato and lapogne36! They are the real champions here. This game got super complex real fast. So much work put into every submission here, and good job to everyone that finished! Thank you Samsara for hosting.

Is it too late to request to change teams? because I haven't done a single damn thing, and I want credit for at least providing incredible amounts of encouragement. (not that I've done that either, but I can change)

Finally got around to exploring the new site. I really enjoyed the intro movie on the Welcome page. The new search function SO much more organized and easier to use. I'm looking forward to the more advanced search options one day. Having the featured movie being confined to a scrollable box hinders easy navigation of the home page. Both the featured movie and the TASVideos news bars don't scroll down very far, though, so maybe making the boxes taller would be viable. There will probably have to be a character limit for the description of any featured movie to make sure they will fit nicely on the home screen. In the Starting points section under the Movies tab the 'Movies by category' and 'Search' tabs are non-functioning. There are also several hyperlinks around the site that lead to 'Page does not exist yet', but I'm guessing that's not a concern since this is still in Alpha testing. It'll all be filled in later. I really am looking forward to the new TASvideos. Keep up the good work! -Edit- Just saw the new updates to the site after I posted this. They look great

File > Export to Bk2 You can load the .bk2 file into version 2.6.2. It will then automatically create a .tasproj specific to 2.6.2.

Progress Report! Please feel free to join our ->Discord server<- (https://discord.gg/45nxh9asEY) An audience is always welcome, and you get access to live streams with niedle practicing for the upcoming AGDQ :D I re-worked the final level from the TAS wip 2 above (Tempest City). The actual finished level is hiding somewhere in my files. Link to video I also re-worked Twilight Foundry (the first level in the above TAS wip 2) to match the WR Link to video There's recently been a big skip found in Argent Towers. It forgoes the need to even get the police car. You can see the IRL attempts in our discord live streams, but I'll be going back for that on my second pass through. A few interesting glitches along the way... Link to video Link to video Finally, we get to the actual progress :D Link to video Link to video Link to video If you watched these videos, then I'm sure you'll have noticed the occasional flickering on the overworld screen as well as the occasional glitched backgrounds on some of the post-level screen. I currently don't know how to fix this. Sorry. I'm currently working on a bunch of racing levels now that I access to the Van. It is the 3rd fastest vehicle, but it has by far the best handling. There is a lot of testing going on to find out which vehicle is optimal for each level, so progress will be slow for awhile. Anywho, thanks for stopping by. I'll see you all on the next post : )

There were some entertaining spots. Voted Meh. I want to compare this to your warpless walkathon run. What if you ended up having to press B in order to cross the gap in 4-3? That would immediately have put the entire run into a gray area. And now you want to pass off a Jumpless run with "only" 60+ jumps? Trying to disguise it as minimum A presses is too much of a stretch for me.

I just want to throw in that this exact scenario came up while working on the final Bugz submission after DTC 9. I found that I could use the level select feature on the frame after the score gets saved in order to skip the level transition. After a brief discussion, it was decided by a majority (including 2 judges) that this was something we shouldn't do. The discussion was very similar to Feos' reasoning in that if the Level Select is allowed to be used, then why limit it's use?

Hello, I am making this topic because I personally would love it if there were more TASing categories since it gives even beginner TASers a chance to be able to submit a run that would actually be accepted. Any thoughts about this (positive or negative) will be appreciated. Thank you.
It wouldn't really matter what categories there were since many beginner TASes get rejected for sub-optimal gameplay People frequently submit odd categories of games. If the community at large thought crash% or dank% or no control stick% or whatever was entertaining enough to be worth publishing, then MANY more TASes would make it out of April Fools Day alive.

How is that supportive to beginning TASers? That's a very technical aspect and would only be interesting to a select few within the community.

I am still listening for guidance on what specifically the community would like to see in a run of Mario Paint.
I like the idea of accepting Mario Paint as a play around. This particular run would just have to be shorter, in my opinion. At about the 14 minute mark i started to get bored and skipped towards the end of the video.

Your typical low-quality boring board game adaption. Yes vote because I think it's fine as vault material.
So you think low-quality boring games are entertaining? Please re-read the voting question. It is not asking you if it's publishable. That's the judge's role to determine. It's asking you if it's entertaining. Accurate polling results help decide tier level if a game does get accepted. Also I'm going to let you peruse the movie rules in regards to board games and vault tier.

In my biased opinion I think it's firmly 'above average'. But here's a 9 minute 12 second improvement along with significantly more entertainment.

Here's an additional (final) 15 frame improvement and a bunch of entertainment thrown in. Link to video

Thanks for co-authorship. I figure I better carry my weight, though, so here's an additional 147 frame improvement.

Here's an 89 frame improvement in the section with the BUZZ BUZZ that we talked about earlier. Hopefully it's not too much work to resync.

Now up through Tempest City. The motorcycle is an absolute nightmare to optimize, but I'm trying. Link to video I'm now working with the RTA community on possible improvements and tricks to try out.

You seem to be able to switch directions just fine. Can’t you turn around at the last second to land on the ledge and then turn around again to jump over the gap?

At 2:30 in the encode why do you pick up the guy and then fall down the gap? Can’t you just go across?

It looks like you did the tail whip on the ground which is still running for a frame, but I don't see any problem with using tail whip in the air as much as you want.

For the first time ever I'm actually TASing a game that I've played before (one of my favorites, in fact). It's been two months since I've started, day by day learning the "wonders" of 360 degree analog control, learning how to avoid desyncs, and figuring out the hard way (several times) that overworld routing matters a lot. I bring you the first wip of my Blast Corps TAS. Link to video This is also a call for help. I need someone who is capable of finding and displaying checkpoint information on the racing levels. I want to know when I enter a new section. Ideally there'd be an outline of the bounds of each area. The checkpoint system in this game is fairly plain. All you have to do is visit each section of the level once in order. You can usually find me idling in Discord, and we can talk all the details.

It's pretty par for the course in regards to NES mario bros. Maybe a 'Meh' vote would've been more in line.

I didn't intend for my statement to sound as harsh as it did. The point I was implying was that this movie's acceptance now seems to rely on Happy Lee's updated run in the hopes that it's different enough.

The deaths at the beginning set the tone for an unsatisfying run... and at no point am I 'pleasantly surprised' by what happens. Voting No on entertainment.

If runs like SMB1 -3 world ending and SML hard mode can be accepted, why not this?
SMB1 -3 world ending is still part of the original game. But I do agree that it's more of a popularity issue than a real ending. I don't understand your issue with SML Hard Mode. It has a complete ending.

Why? It sounds like you're grasping at straws instead of having a solid basis for acceptance.
