Lovin' it. Great run of a frustrating game. There were several surprising moments like getting eaten by a fish and jumping in mid-air. Yeah, it's not sonic the hedgehog but still an impressive movie. Do fantastic dizzy next please :)

Just to clarify, what I proposed earlier is NOT that we start accepting every submission into the site as it is currently structured. That would mean wading through a bunch of crap to get to the good stuff. What I am proposing is in fact the opposite: a way of making more of the good stuff float to the top. At the same time, it allows those who want to wade through crap to find obscure stuff only they would like to do so. Right now we fight over what gets a star. We can keep the stars; having a very select pool of super-awesome movies is great. But, couldn't we distinguish between potentially star-worthy movies and those that barely meet acceptability? I'm thinking of movies like my own Dizzy the Adventurer run. It's an obscure game in most markets, most of the gameplay is not that impressive unless you're familiar with how frickin' horrible the game is, and the many sequence breaks are not obvious. It's not that entertaining to most people. To anyone who has played the game, it's pretty impressive. But it's clearly not comparable to incredible movies like Mega Man or Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Bros. It's not fair, but these games are familiar to most, and more importantly we have learned to abuse the crap out of them. To summarize: we should have a core of star movies, a larger pool of really awesome movies that is smaller than our population of currently published movies, and a section of movies that do not have broad appeal. We should not publish anything and everything, but accepting more while simultaneously being more selective with what we feature benefits everyone. And I don't think we need to completely overhaul the site coding to do so.

Here's an idea: add a tier between starred and non-starred. It would include pretty much every movie where most people say "whoa, that's crazy". Tuck everything else away, not so buried as gruefood delight but not as prominent as the awesomer movies. We could call everything else something like "Archives". Then we have the advantage of a place where people can go to reliably find awesome movies, and the advantage of having a huge variety of probably-boring-but-maybe-not-to-some-people movies. I think my Dizzy the Adventurer movie falls in the latter category: it is pretty dull to most, but it has received some very positive comments on youtube from Dizzy's (mostly Polish) fanbase. Probably wouldn't have to redesign the site that much either. You could theoretically add a "category" tag and use that to filter movies. I don't know if there's something that makes this unfeasible, but I could check it out if given permissions. I am familiar with php and mysql and stuff.

Why not remove the uninteresting bad game choice conflict, focusing on quality of the run and allow the ratings to dictate entertainment value?
Because some people here live in a fantasy world where all published movies are completely entertaining, and they do not want to mar our perfect record of only publishing top quality video game movies (serious business). Love, Alden

Regardless of how big or small, the fact that it's more people in one month than all of last year says something. And this month may be even bigger as it is being promoted as "No Bank November" My local Occupy has been encouraging people to write to and call our local officials :)

http://newsone.com/nation/newsonestaff2/650000-people-joined-credit-unions/ The most interesting part of participating in my local Occupy is the consensus process. For those unfamiliar, all official group decisions are voted on, and only pass if no one blocks it. It is frustrating at times, but very rewarding when we do come to agreement (which happens more often than not, after talking things out and compromising). The least interesting is spending more time on facebook than here boo D: gah stab my eyes out

I love hip hop as an idea... I'm not a huge fan of a lot of it in practice, especially what goes on the radio. Sampling, street art is great. Selling cars and hating on women, homosexuality really turns me off. I'm mostly in it for the beats but once in a while a rapper will blow my mind (for example, the link AngerFist shared at the beginning, Busta totally tore it down. Much respect.) For those of you who think hip hop is for gangstas only, I will pretentiously reference the epic album "...Endtroducing" from DJ Shadow, one of the best DJ's of my time... hip-hop without rap :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmzHRGoKca0 Also much love to the pioneers in the dancehalls of Jamaica and the early dj's in NYC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lDCYjb8RHk (sampling kraftwerk ftw) Hip hop forever, ditch the big labels :D

How hard it is to do is not directly correlated with how entertaining it is... yes, for tasers who know that Super Metroid is hard to tas, that adds some element of entertainment, but the general public does not know that.

OK, so it's well-emulated... but wouldn't we be able to obsolete it when our cpus get faster? That's kind of my point... the game should look as if it were run the way it was intended as far as hardware goes. Also, I would definitely like to see a new TAS of this played at an "accurate" speed!

OMG OMG THIS IS AWESOME OK, calm down... One of the great pleasures I get from tasvideos is nostalgia, and personally this game is VERY nostalgic, one of my favorite games of all time. In fact one of my only complaints about this TAS is it skips too much :P Also, the long loading/cutscenes near the beginning are a little annoying, but overall HUGE YES VOTE Double impressive that you modified the source code to allow for mouse movement! OMG OMG OMG I THINK I LOVE YOU

Where did I say I had a problem with capitalism :) And while I am well aware that greed and laziness etc present a problem, I'm not satisfied by shrugging and saying "oh well it is what it is" Anyway, I would encourage all concerned to talk to your neighbors. That's what I'm doing.

ok, but i'm pretty sure no one played this game at this speed. i understand it is hard to emulate at a sane speed -- that is my point. we do not have the ability to emulate this game as it was intended to be played.
