My argument is that a lot of the sonic runs look similar... I do realize that this is more similar to the Knuckles run and understand (but don't really agree with) the rationale for rejecting it. Like I said, just more movies for purveyors of gruefood.

Thank you Mr. Bisqwit. I have a more-working script now, but it doesn't seem to update the palette for the weapons; that is, the weapons that Rockman shoots. For example, the magnet beam is a bunch of Y's, and the other weapons are similar garbage. In addition to the poking you suggested, I was taking the advice of http://www.datacrystal.org/wiki/Mega_Man:RAM_map and setting $5F to various values to select a weapon. Is there perhaps something different I should try?

I nominate "Mister, Phil, ElectroSpecter, Deign" And I'll go ahead and vote for Mister as Mister made my favorite SNES movie of the year (and I already cast my vote for Deign as TASer of the year :P ) To me it is the spiritual successor/obsoletor to JXQ's 100% SM run, although unfortunately and necessarily shorter.

Holy crap, fantastic. May I suggest changing the screenshot? That's like putting a shot of the final boss. No alternate suggestions I'm afraid... I guess pretty much any of the other answers.

Think about issues like education, inside the US, there are minor problems and there are defiantly the occasional few for whom the current system works badly.
Occasional few? "Nearly one-third of all public high school students—and nearly one half of all African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans—fail to graduate from public high school with their class" http://www.silentepidemic.org/epidemic/statistics-facts.htm I'd take the source with a grain of salt, but there's nothing "minor" about the failures of our educational system. That said, it's much worse elsewhere and I agree that the US should try to help everyone, not just itself.

I was working on a Lua script to enable weapon switching with the Select key but got stuck on updating the PPU so the palette didn't get screwed up.

how many of these were made with the intention of being gruefood? At least 10, 6, 4, 3, and 1 I think.
Good point... Color a Dinosaur was clearly a joke submission. I did not really expect super-short Minesweeper to get published, however I did submit it with the idea that it could be. Dragon's Lair explicitly stated it was submitted to be rejected, however I think it's an amusing movie despite the simplicity. I can't say for certain on the others, but whatever the intent was I would say they could/should have been published.

They all have great glitches, but for my money Metroid II provides the most wackiness.

Wait, that would mean that as a persons post count goes up, the number of movies published goes down. Perhaps you meant a direct relationship between posts and movies published?
Nope, I mean there are many people with high post counts and low movie counts, and a few with high movie counts and low post counts. I give myself as an example, and you mmbossman as an exception. Look at the other posters in this thread for more examples.

I'd say it's either TASes or TAS's depending on your pronunciation. Words ending in s are pluralized with an es. On the other hand, 's is used to pluralize letters, like "How many A's did you get" to distinguish from "How many as did you get" TASs just looks wrong to me, but I suppose it works.

This game has been pretty well advertised, insofar as I've seen it multiple places online. But, I'll add to that here. Basically, you need to move the red ball onto the star. You only have a crayon, with which you can draw other objects. You can draw a bigger ball to fall and knock the small one about; you can draw levers; you can draw ropes. It's pretty easy until the later levels, at which point you can abuse the open-endedness of the physics to do whatever the hell you want. You can do that even in the lower levels. I'm pretty sure I didn't solve at least 75% of the levels as intended. For example, there's ejection when you draw an object partway onto the ball (and the object is stable because it is connected to two "pins" or fulcrums): But watch out for deficiencies in the engine ;) : These can be avoided by carefully erasing your previous objects: I would rate it maybe 6 point out of 10, maybe not worth 20 bucks, but definitely amusing.

Man I forgot about that one. I didn't watch it though. I'd venture to say that outside of the whole multiple category issue it was probably more publishable than the other movies on this list, from a strictly entertaining-to-the-most-number-of-people viewpoint. *ducks*

Certainly considered, but since it didn't finish the game it didn't quite make this prestigious list.

From "has" which is pronounced "hazz"? Or the "tas" part of "Tasmania"? :D

Bah, don't believe the hype, this movie was awesome... ok, I'm probably in the minority on that one. You should submit it anyways. In any event it should find a home here :D

While we wait for the official 2008 awards, here's my list of favorite gruefood from the last year... 10: Color a Dinosaur by Deign and adelikat (one movie each) A modern day legend. Submission text and forum sigs have never fully recovered. 9: King's Quest V by BZero Awesome point and click old-school Sierra action. 8: North & South by Chamale This made me "LOL" as the kids say these days. 7: Might and Magic by Dammit Wait, what just happened. 6: Minesweeper by alden Hell yes I'm including myself. Make your own list. Or your own <.5 second submission. 5: 6 Mega Man Games by AngerFist Perfect for those hungry for more action after the 4 game movie. 4: Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog, No Rings Collected by mike89 An answer to the question few have asked, "Can you beat any Sonic game without collecting a ring?" Yes, if by Sonic game you mean (well-made) fan hack... 3: Dragon's Lair by DarkKobold So glad I didn't waste many quarters trying to see the end of this one in the arcade. 2: Ocarina of Time by JNX Even the author said it was sub-optimal, but whatever. 1: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Warp This is a terrible game and a boring movie, but it has a strange allure... frankly the perfect candidate for GRUEFOOD OF THE YEAR Congratulations on making "subpar" movies guys. Hope to see more this year!

Sounds intriguing to me... we need more AVGN runs ;) I'll try to remember to take a look at this. Welcome to the forums!
