I have added a "sister" page to Gruefood Delight: http://tasvideos.org/Alden/GoldenOldies.html Basically it's to highlight obsoleted movies that provide something unique that is missing from the new movie(s). Would appreciate any suggestions from people for other movies to include and why.

I'm all for it. I bet we'll see something like this eventually... The idea is very compelling. Oh, and also, it should include an export to MIDI feature :)

Yes, in my movie you wouldn't be able to exit the room any faster by not getting the gun, because the door does not let you exit for a while. I think in general fists will be better, but I'm sure bullets will still be useful (probably on the last boss for example). If you feel like working on it more I could look for more memory addresses for the hp of other things, and position and speed etc.

Nice movie, feels faster than the old one especially towards the end. The damage and spell power management was excellent. It seemed like a couple of times you ran through the whole level flashing from taking damage, but it didn't matter. Good job, and I look forward to an improved version as well.

It looks better. But at the risk of "exhausting" you, I still think it can be significantly faster (in the range of a couple seconds)

Well, you've made it a lot faster since then, but here's an improvement: Demo From the frame when the boss appears on screen, to the time that the screen goes totally black after leaving, this method is about 75 frames faster. It would be even more if the door didn't delay "opening" for some reason. With more patience you could definitely improve on the demo as well. A big help is watching the boss's health. In FCEU, go to the Tools menu and choose Memory Watch... In the window that pops up, there are a bunch of places to type stuff. In the very top left hand box under Address, type 2c2 Then, keeping the Memory Watch window open, go back to the main window and continue recording your movie. The corresponding Value box will show that memory addresses value, in this case the boss's HP. Well that was more lengthy than I had intended to post. I hope you continue to work with this!

Not necessarily wildly popular games, but I think it would be useful to mark some lesser known games that have better than average movies. I'm thinking stuff like Legacy of the Wizard, Biker Mice from Mars, Umihara Kawase... Those movies are very good in my eyes, but I only really watched them out of boredom rather than saying "Ooh! Legacy of the Wizard!" It would not be limiting anything, only helping viewers get the most out of the site.

Same here. I had to set it to not even download automatically to stop unsolicited rebooting. So far so good...

I think it should only stress the positive movies, and games that would be labeled "bad game choice" would simply not be labeled as "totally awesome". There are clearly movies that are interesting to a broader audience, so that should be indicated, but I don't think it's appropriate to label movies as "boring"

So, I've added a few movies, including Outrun suggested by DarkKobold, and modified the introduction a bit. I still have not added the other Color a Dinosaur (oops), but I'm planning to go through and look for other funny/really unfunny April Fools submissions so I will add it then. I also added a few examples of my planned layout for entries on the list. It's basically using a simple table to emulate the "look and feel" of real publications. I have one at the bottom of the page, and also redid all of the Hacks tab (a whopping two entries there!)

Reading the list of the new bosses, many of them reminded me of the old Nintendo Power contest where you were supposed to design a new one. I looked that up, and the old faithful internet found me the list: http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/megaman-enemies/ And indeed, there are some very similar ones... MM9 on left, contest entries on right: Galaxy Man -- Cosmic Man Jewel Man -- Diamond Man Hornet Man -- Bee Man, Insect Man Plug Man -- Volt Man, Power Man Tornado Man -- Storm Man Yeah, I know they're pretty generic but still it makes me happy

Glad you're still working on this. Another thing to look at on the driving stage is lag -- this seems to be one of the most laggy areas. Don't know if maybe killing off some enemies would help (if you can even do that)

There's a bunch of movies for games that are "fun to watch for some" but have never been published at all. Which is not to say that there can't be 5 SM movies, only that that is not a good argument given existing precedents.

Don't do it, it's a trap! :P Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear of your transportation problems, but your means of dealing with them made me smile. Especially the part about "wandering the streets in a spiralling method around the subway exit point" -- that's what I'd expect from such a computer geek :) I'm eager to hear more of your impressions of our "beautiful" country...

A good watch. I liked the longer, more familiar routes when they were possible; it's sad that they weren't available more often. Knuckles really does abuse this game, which is fun to see as well. But, the no-rings goal would be much better if it could be pulled off by Sonic in a "real" game. So, I'm basically just repeating a lot of what has been said before me :) Good show Mr. mike, looking forward to more Sonic madness from you.

Voted yes, congratulations Mr. _dfwm. I'm always hesitant to watch autoscrollers, but when they're good they're great :) I liked the use of the "detachable force pod" especially.

I voted a couple days ago and didn't comment, I assume it was a "yes" but I don't remember... I can't really add much beyond what emu and DarkKobold wrote: looks decently played, has some interesting bits but the game itself detracts from it to some extent. Still liked watching it though.

I bet this would be awesome if I had played this before. I did play a bit before watching which helped to some extent. I vote yes. It really is a lot of walking and elevator riding though :)

Yeah, this reminded me a lot of Splinter Cell... but much more action. It was pretty repetitive but the glitchy jumping and occasional other surprising aspects kept my attention. Voted "yes".

I always seem to like runs of this game -- voted yes. I do miss the two player action though. Also, it would be interesting to see how fast you could go allowing death and with no limitations on difficulty or number of players, even if it might be "less entertaining".

"Voted yes", liked the movie a lot. This game is really neat and I appreciated seeing more of it this time. Not too many "extra"ordinary events, but certainly it appears to be fast. So is anyone working on an improvement, if that is in fact possible?

Labeling it "NBMB" implies to me that there is an any% that does fight bosses and is shorter -- that NBMB is a special goal. If anything, this should be any% and the old any%'s should be "YBMB" -- Yes-Boss-Mini-Boss :)

Wow, if that were possible and could somehow sync up the frames, you'd practically have tool assisted Wii games. I'm assuming the signals it sends are proprietary and have not been decoded quite yet though.

Yeah, but it would never be Chris' dog, because Chris is not plural.

The way I understood it, ONLY Chris's is correct. The ' at the end is only appropriate when the noun ends in an s and is plural. For example, if you were going to a house inhabited by the Smiths, it would be the Smiths' house. I could be wrong though :S
