Well according to this post "frame advance" is already in place. All you need then is arbitrary savestates. Aside from hacking the engine, I was thinking about running it on a virtual machine to create snapshots to revert back to. It is slower than we're used to, but not a terribly long process...

The "easiest" way to do memory watch is with FCEU 0.98.16 You go into "Cheat Search" to find addresses, and then transfer them to "Memory Watch" to see their values. Here's a pretty good explanation but PM me if you'd like more help and I would be happy to :)

Heh, I remember that bear thing now ;) Don't know if you're using memory watch stuff, but that would probably make positioning Graham much simpler for you. Maybe someone here knows more details, but I think that FCEU reports movie starting points strangely. Power-on = hard reset, ie using the power switch and not the reset switch on a real nes. If we look at the info on microstorage, it says your movie starts from "Hard reset (power-on)", whereas the q*bert movie is "Reset (Type Unknown)" You should be fine.

Thank you for making this movie; it's a game I've wanted to see done. I tested it a bit myself a while back and I enjoyed seeing what you've done with it. The Plucky stage is really nice as is most of Buster (in fact it's a shame the rest of the game isn't like this level). The Babs coaster has its moments, less so the Furrball stage... and the pig on the train thing is way too long and there's nothing to do. Also, you get hit near the end of Buster when it seems you shouldn't have to. Perhaps there's a good reason but I can't tell. Keep up the good work.

This looks pretty good so far, actually. It seemed faster than I'd remembered it ;) I didn't look very closely, but during the part with the bear, did you have to walk that far down? I'm sure you tested it though... Keep up the good work, I will look forward to a more substantial WIP.

Awesome stickyman! Thanks for that. re: ShinyDoofy -- The name of the rom I have is Sonic the Hedgehog (JUE) (V1.0).gg. In my version of Dega, 1.14 (no a) for Windows it shows the checksum of the rom used when you are loading the movie...

I would suggest getting one of the versions here just to be sure. Those should all have - and = (not the ones on the numpad, the ones up by backspace) as the default speed controls. Good luck!

You'd also have to get the power on timing right though -- plus whatever other unforeseen issues with syncing the output with a real console instead of an emulator

I use PocketNester / PocketNesterPlus for my treo 750 running windows mobile. It runs pretty much full speed and plays music fine (though i turn it off). Worked better on WM5, but it works on WM6 too (the only problem is that some of the setting pages don't scroll). This has basically fulfilled my childhood dream of having a portable NES :)

When I was just a wee one I was lucky enough to have a second hand NES Advantage ... it had not only adjustable turbo for A and B, but also Slow Motion (as long as pressing start would pause the game and not hide the screen :) ... that and my used-so-much-that-my-nes-wouldn't-work-without-it game genie were early indications of my predilection for tool-assisted play

I think it would be neat to have lists of games that are interesting in different distinct ways (super fast looking, crazy luck manipulation, glitchy, ?) and would appeal to different folks. Maybe even lists from individual users that people could browse, and then some sort of aggregation of that into a more general list (man this is getting complicated). I do think it's valuable to have some sort of mechanism to help guide viewers to more enjoyable movies (to them) -- ultimately it would enhance the usefulness and therefore the longevity of the site.

Wow, it's been 2 and a half months since I posted my last WIP. And this new one is sort of a step backwards -- just the first level of the GG version. It's as fast as I have been able to do, :19 seconds... I was really holding out for :18 but I think the camera is just too slow (the end sign does not "spawn" until the camera is sufficiently close). The most aggravating part is that I'm only about 5 frames off from the lower time :( Oh well. I want to post it so I can convince myself to go on with the rest of the game -- also if someone feels like taking a stab at going for a lower time I would be pleased... I have memory addresses if anyone wants them. OK enough with the long-winded excuses, here's the new WIP, and here's to increased productivity.
