What exactly makes Mupen more comfortable with this game? I'm hearing that a lot. If it's just about memory addresses, well, go find them again in Bizhawk.
If the timing would be the same, there would be no problem with using Mupen if you like it, but it's known to be less accurate. So every time needs to be converted (also, it will eventually allow someone to claim a fake sub 5).

No, I don't feel like playing Cheetahmen II, for obvious reasons.
When I play Gex, I do admit that it is exclusively for glitchhunting. It's not a game that I had during my childhood.

Using "no sketch glitch" for the old run would look strange if the new one is also called "sketch glitch", so I'd say just give a name to one category. If I were to decide, I would always make the fastest category the unnamed default, but other's have different opinions here.
If the named category has to be the fastest one, there aren't too many options. "game end glitch" only applies to runs with credits warps and stuff, so we basically have to create something game specific. And "sketch glitch" is a term used by the RTA community, so it makes sense to use it.
Yeah, I'm just one of those people that will never be happy about the change that made the fastest run no longer be the "default", the unnamed any% ^^

It's understandable to have separate categories for this, but I really don't like the naming that spoils what glitch is used, instead of saying what glitch isn't used in the name of the less-glitched category. But whatever, a title doesn't make a TAS worse or anything.

To my understanding (please correct me if this is wrong), the PAL version is quite different and faster in terms of actual gameplay, but becomes slower overall simply because of the framerate. So in this case, the time shouldn't be that important when deciding if it deserves a separate publication.

I'm asking this because a friend of me is running a GB game on BGB and we're not sure how to compare his runs to console or Gambatte/Bizhawk. I read that the Gambatte core is considered the most accurate, but how much of a difference does it make for speedrunning? The game he's running (Batman; The Video Game) is quite short, so this actually becomes an important question. He's using version 1.5.
Thanks for your help!

Adelikat, do you have any plans to continue your "all platforms challenge"? There are many new ones since you finished that project. And who doesn't love TASes of obscure games ^^

Really liked this TAS. The game has pretty graphics and nice 16-bit versions of the songs in the movie, so it creates a cool atmosphere. The gameplay has a lot of variety, especially since you get a different character at one point. Sometimes, the optimal way to do things looks really awkward (the hyena fights for example) and I like that.
I'm voting yes!

I'm a huge fan of the Bond series, so I loved seeing 007 in a platformer for once. If the game misses something, it would be more gadgets, those would have made it much more bond-ish.
The TAS seems to be well done, even if it continues the record of the most edits by Spikestuff. The only part I didn't like was level 3, you should have been more creative there during the waiting times (silly every-other-frame movement, dancing around to the music). But despite that, it still gets a yes vote from me!

I disagree, I play all of my GameCube games on my Wii because it has faster load times and inexpensive component cables. Playing GameCube games on the Wii is a completely legitimate way to play them and probably the way that 90%+ of people have played GameCube games in 480p. If you're trying to emulate hardware limitations, you might as well emulate the best hardware IMHO.

Sounds like an example where it would be okay to use a cheat to access something otherwise unavailable. Especially if that level would make for a fantastic TAS!

Great work so far with the TAS. It's unfortunate that the graphical Puni glitch is still there, but I'm used to worse things from N64 emulation. Also, the commentary was a great idea!
Can't wait for the finished run!

I'm pretty sure Pikmin is one of the few first party games for the console (I think there are only two, the other being Luigis Mansion), where the European version is not in PAL 60. This would make it very bad for TASing.

Also, how much thought have you given to what version you are using? While the GC version seems to be the standard for runners, pretty much everyone agrees that the Wii version should be much faster. There are upsides and downsides to both versions. For example, the way bomb-rocks work has been changed in the Wii version to make them generally less useful (and at least for RTA runs, it makes 1-cycling the final boss impossible. I don't think anyone's tested TASing that). But on the Wii version, in addition to the cursor being disconnected from your movement, you can also skip the end-of-day cutscenes, saving around 34 seconds per day (a little under 3 minutes over a 6-day run).
I would go with the version that is faster in its gameplay. So, if the Wii port was just faster overall because of cutscene skips, but slower in terms of actual gameplay, I think GC should be used.
So, what version is faster just by gameplay?

U-chan should have a story, just like I-chan. Maybe she also has no idea what she's doing, but even worse than I-chan, U-chan actually corrupts memory by accident! What they definitely have in common, is the complete inability to give good names.
Anyway, this TAS was very entertaining to me, it has everything that Pokémon TASes should have. Easy yes vote!

I like the vault and many runs in it, I don't want it to be removed or something (also, I have a TAS published in there ^^).
Personally, I would even be okay with allowing even more games to be accepted there, like pure party games or ports that just have minor differences, so the statistics nerds like me can be happy.
But the thing I would like the most for this site, would still be ILs. If a system for publishing those could be implemented, this would basically be the best thing ever.
