Ok, as the Gex guy, I have to clarify some things here: Gex: Enter the Gecko is not a good example of a game, where you deliberately TAS a version with less levels. The amount of regular levels (bonus levels are irrelevant for any%) is exactly the same, it's just that the two versions each have one exclusive level. The reason the N64-version is used for speedruns and TASes (besides the option to disable the time-wasting quotes), is that the exclusive level lets you have more remotes earlier on, which allows you to skip a boss. For 100%, I would prefer the Playstation version, because it has more content overall. This is my opinion for all games btw, don't try to save time with a version that has less content.

I personally don't care too much what version ends up being published. I love the cheap cutscenes of this game and thought that ending the input that early was pretty clever. Publishing both would also work for me, but in that case, this movie could only go to moons. And it would be pretty arbitrary for a separate category.

I'm through the first two rooms of Smellraiser and my lead is now over 3000 frames. And I found a cool little trick! When you finish a climb from a wall, you have to watch a long animation and your speed drops to 1. However, there's a single frame to jump from the wall, where you still make it to the platform and also keep your speed. This saves quite some frames and also looks really funny, because Gex looks like he gets teleported into the air.

Thank you! One of my goals is to get this published to moons instead of vault.

It's finally here, the first WIP! Link to video My apologies for the loooong time it took me to finish this level. TASing this game is not easy at all due to the movement, and the first level is actually pretty tough to optimize. This killed my motivation for months because I never TASed a 3D game before. I saved a ton of time compared to Mukkis TAS, literally everything is faster, even menus and level transitions. 2933 frames ahead when starting Smellraiser.

This game needs to have a publication just because of the cutscenes.

I hate football. So. Fucking. Close! But I still have to say that the Swiss played an incredible match. They brought Argentina to their limit and eventually got unlucky at the very end. It's so sad to lose like this :(

While I don't find this run particularly interesting, I know that this is due to my lack of understanding of the game mechanics, and the TAS is in fact very impressive on a technical level. There definitely is an audience that finds this more entertaining than I do, so I think this should be published to replace a worse hack of the same game.

The Swiss will get their last chance to stay in the tournament now, this match will be very intense. While a draw (and in some cases even a loss), could be enough, they just have to win today. If they don't, they wont have the slightest chance against Argentina, that's just basic psychology. HOPP SCHWIIZ!

Greece really fought for this draw, 10 players, almost no ball possession and constantly under attack - and yet they still succeed getting that point. Reminded me a lot of the good ol' times back in 2004 ^^ And if they defeat Ivory Coast, they can even make it to the next round (if Japan doesn't win of course, and I doubt they will).

Yes, after the group stage it's a K.O. system. Only the losers of the semifinals get to play another match, the unpopular match for 3rd place.

Switzerland defeats Ecuador with a goal in the 93. minute! Behramis one-man show that lead into this was the best part: First he manages to stop an attack of Ecuador, he falls down but gets up and still keeps the ball. Then he runs toward the middle, where he gets attacked and goes down again. But again, he quickly gets up and keeps the ball. Finally, after running across half of the field, he passes and Switzerlands attack leading to the goal begins. Now France is next. They are very strong this time, so this won't be easy. But I know from previous years that the Swiss can do very good against France, so I'll be optimistic.

Tags are a good thing, but it's unlikely that everyone uses them for finding very specific stuff. Yes, I am also guilty of this, because I most of the time just search movies by system. The list with the tags is not really that hidden, but the one with the systems is the first you see and therefore the natural way to go.

I just have to dig this thread up, because this movie reminded me of why the current naming of categories doesn't work IMO. A friend of me, a speedrunner and occasional TASer himself, asked me if there's a TAS of a category he know's as "no save corruption". This term is used by the RTA community. I remembered there being a TAS of said category, so I searched for it. It took me a long time finding it, because I had no idea what the category is called here. It couldn't be the RTA name because I knew this naming convention is not used here, so I just searched for the name "pokémon" and scrolled through all the results. I really think this is a problem. When people can't find TASes because of how they are named, we should do something. In most parts of the speedrun community, it's kind of an unwritten rule that the naming convention of categories is "any%" for the fastest and "any%, no x glitch" for more restrictive categories. This is what people are familiar with, so why confusing them? I know we already have some differences, like the nameless category meaning any% and the different timing, but these do not really hurt the site. But naming categories after the glitches that are used, instead of naming them after the glitches that are not used, seems to actively keep viewers from enjoying our TASes. Besides, I think having the glitch that will be used in the title kinda spoils the whole thing. tl;dr: The name of this category is confusing.
