I feel so sorry for this game :( But you still did a great job bringing the time down even more!

Well... if low% is the fastest category then it's any%. So 0 stars is any%. 70 stars is any% "no BLJ".
A true "any%, no BLJ" would just use hyperspeed wallkicks to skip everything. But those are used in the published 70 star for different things, so yeah, it's pretty arbitrary :p

So if the credits can be reached faster by inputting a cheat code, it should be allowed? (My point is that "anything goes" implies "within certain rules".)
Not using cheat codes (except for cosmetic things or gamemodes/characters inaccessible otherwise) is a general rule of the site, just like the usage of the hardest available difficulty. Of course a TAS shouldn't violate those. But what if the fastest way to beat a game was to actually "create" a sort of cheat code by using arbitrary data execution? I think this technically should be allowed.

This is the same discussion we had in the topic about the term "glitched". I can only repeat my opinion: The unnamed (any%) branch should always be the fastest way to reach the credits, no matter how this is achieved. For 100%, the problem would easily be solved by creating a category called "100%, no arbitrary code execution"

That was impressive! Now I want to see a full game run with minimal A-presses. No matter how long and boring it may be, I would watch it!

Pretty cool TAS, especially considering it's your first project. The only things that I can criticize are the fact that the team match wasn't "perfect" (your partner took damage) and the first bonus level didn't beat the non-TAS WR (or did you intentionally sacrifice time there to not take damage?). Good luck on future TASes!

I was always thinking of "any%" as the definition of a "anything goes" run, the absolutely fastest way to beat the game, no matter what it takes. From there on, the communities can make different variations of any% that ban certain techniques ("any%, no X"). For me, that's what any% is about. Therefore, if the fastest way to beat the game is not called any%, this contradicts the meaning of the term. If "glitched" is faster than any%, why is the latter even called any%? It's not a true any%, it's just another type of "any%, no X", so why don't we use this naming convention instead? This way, there won't be confusion regarding the term "glitched", just different types of any% that explain their restrictions in the title.

I just know of at least one game that loses time in the TAS, if a memory pak is present (the one I'm currently TASing, Gex 64). I'ts not much of a difference, but it would still be nice to have the choice.

Well, if a 100% TAS be made, can I suggest using the (E) version? The hidden mansion there is quite different than the normal mansion.
Right, PAL Hidden Mansion is basically "Plays on hardest difficulty" http://www.mariowiki.com/Luigi's_Mansion#PAL_Differences The higher money requirement would mean you can't use RTA players' money route.
This sounds interesting and fun!
The problem with the PAL version is, that this is the only first party GC-game I can think of, that doesn't run in 60Hz. Nintendo was really lazy here :/

Said YES. Love this game, nice TAS. But.. you beat the game soooo fast so we could not enjoy the run. What about a "No Warp" run ? Well done anyway ;)
I rather see a 100% run instead. Also I wonder how would that look like using this glitch (since it can only be done once).
I think speedrunners just ban the OoB for all categories but any%. In a 100% TAS, this would of course be an arbitrary restriction.

That was really fun to watch. I'm glad too see you didn't get discouraged from all the restarts and just kept optimizing it. Newgame+ is a good idea, it makes the run faster, so why not using it? Yes vote from me!

Swordless' run was rejected because it requires a completed savefile and he failed to include a verification movie. It's basically a glitched newgame+ I think the best choice would be to do a 100% with TT.

You unlock TT by beating his ghost on every single track. It would take some time to produce a verification movie, but it would be worth it. A TAS should use this character, as it makes the run faster and more entertaining.

Is maximum score even vault-able? I mean, is this the fastest possible way to beat the game? Would a non-max score run be faster?

This was just as vaulty as the Tekken 2 one, but this time it's much more visually appealing. And the ending is even campier! Yes vote again!

Man do I hate stupid copyright laws like they have in Germany. I can see the videos from Switzerland, but we also get some stuff blocked on Youtube (mostly music from Sony I think), even though not as much as our neighbors. Anyway, the run itself was amazing. I knew this would eventually happen, I just wondered how long it would take. Runs like this may not be entertaining for everyone, but I just love it when TASes reach the point where the game simply gives up.

I liked the run, it really offers everything that a good Pokémon TAS should: Luck-manipulation and crazy glitches. I'm fine with the ending, although I think it would also be acceptable to skip anything just to get to the credits.

For vault, wouldn't it be like: Max-score = 100%? Personally, I think it would be a good idea to handle it this way, so even boring but technically interesting highscore-TASes can be published.

Why don't you try to mess around with RAM addresses to create a code that lets you play from first person view and then encode the current TAS with it? That would basically be the same thing.
