I like this idea and I agree, but it may be stretching the definition of 100% too far: if you get all dungeon chests, why not all keys? Open all locked doors? I'm not sure to what extent to take this, and how much harder it will make it for the people who do the TASing, since with every new requirement a whole new set of complications arises.

Well, I doubt that I can do such a thing :/ Just downloaded version 440a and it doesn't have the problem. So unless there is something else wrong with that version, I'll be using that instead. Thank you very much for your help anyway, at least I now know that I did nothing wrong.

I also think it's a good definition. Collecting maps/compasses/boss keys is a good idea, as you never see this in other categories. About the strength/diving upgrades, I'd say get everyone of them, not just the last one. No one outside of the community would understand this. But I wouldn't really have a problem if you decide different on this two things. The only problem I have is Epona (which, again, would only become relevant if you could actually skip her). If you require her, you could technically also require the cow in Links house. They're both not displayed as items on one of the pause screens and are rewarded to you after beating a certain minigame. The only difference is, that Epona is required for some Items, while the cow only gives you something you can also get elsewhere. I'd say put the cow on the list if you already have Epona there, a horse race wouldn't make the TAS worse.

I can go to "Record Movie" and choose the settings, but nothing happens when I press "ok". When I exit the menu and open it again, the emulator crashes. It always worked fine in VBA 23, but I want to use the more accurate version. Can somebody help me?

She can't currently be skipped, you mean. That doesn't mean there won't be a way in the future to skip her, or to lose her after getting her. We may not need an answer right now, but there's still value in deciding on what exactly constitutes 100%.
Well, if she could be skipped completely, getting her wouldn't contribute much to the TAS. It would just be: "Hover over the fence in LLR, watch Epona cutscene, get off her". Although there are the big poes, while they can be gotten without Epona, it would probably be slower.

I don't have a problem with the run being as fast as possible, in fact, banning RBA is the only big speed/entertainment tradeoff I would make. The problem I have is just, that I think RBA would sowehow defy the point of a 100%. In Pokémon, the glitched run is technically a 100%, because the endscreen shows a maxed Pokédex. Yet, there's still a separate 100% on the site. I know that's probably not the best example, as the 100% still uses many similar glitches, and OoT doesn't allow you to magically show full completion after being beaten. Banning one glitch doesn't make a TAS a playaround.

The point of a 100% is to show of everything the game has to offer: Visiting all the different locations within an optimized route, using your items in creative ways. Many of those things aren't seen in other categories (the Ice Cavern is a good example). By getting the required items into your inventory without legitimately obtaining them, this whole idea becomes meaningless. If you absolutely have to use RBA, then at least make it required to still get every item legitimately. Either way, I'm still against it.

Why? RBA sucks. It's almost as bad as the x-ray glitch in Super Metroid. Nobody wants to see Link catching bugs 24/7.
If we allow RBA in a 100%, we might as well allow skulltula duplication :P

There is very little interest in a 100% OoT run AFAIK. For starters there is arguments as to what exactly a 100% run is and what restictions should be put on it. Aside, much of the side quests are boring and dull.
There already is a good 100% definition by ZSR: - All C-items - All equipment - Only the highest capacity upgrades (this means goron bracelets, silver gauntlets and silver scale are skipped) - Everything on the status screen (skulltulas, quest items, songs) - All hearts - All fairy upgrades It doesn't include 100% in the dungeons, which means that maps, compasses and boss keys are skipped. Would it be that hard to find a good route? The RTA route would certainly need to be modified, but it wouldn't nearly be as complicated to do as MM 100%.

Someone should just do an unoptimized testrun with the current RTA route (or a slightly altered TAS-version of it). This would make things much easier. But there's still Mupen...

You could do a "bad ending" category that just glitches into the Wizpig 1 race and beats it.

I could see it being done, if Project64 would be integrated into Bizhawk. But right now, with an N64 emulator that is worse than the GC and Wii emulator, I'm with Grunz.

[3695] GC 007 Nightfire (USA) in 42:30.4 by gamerfreak5665. It may not be the most optimized TAS of all time, but it's still the first Gamecube TAS and I enjoyed it.

Btw, how hexable is this game? If it hexes well enough, separate-cup TASes could eventually be combined into a full-game TAS.
Not really, time trial allows you to pick a different vehicle for each track, whereas a full game run would (probably) be Blood Falcon all the way. Unless you're not starting from SRAM or using a cheat code to unlock all the vehicles. In that case I'd suppose it'd first unlock Blood Falcon.
He probably meant a movie with all cups, but still in time trial. Btw, out of curiosity: Is it possible to TAS the 64DD-Expansion?

I absolutely agree that this game is nothing more than garbage, but that's not my point. The only problem I have is, that nudity is seen as more offensive than violence, not only on this site but generally. Maybe it's because I'm from Europe, which isn't very restrictive with showing nudity on TV or in movies. If a game or movie gets banned, it's always because of violence. It's similiar to how europeans can't understand why there's so much censorship in america with swearing, while they don't understand our problem with blood and gore. Well, if Atari porn can't be published here, we're not missing much. But the topic will come up again, when TASes of good games with nudity get submitted.

This movie was awesome! Big yes vote. And I support your decision for each cup to be its own TAS. I think MK64 should be done the same way for the same reasons.
It would be awesome to have MK64-TASes of GP and Time Trial. The former would look more impressive to watch, while the latter would be very interesting to see how much time can be saved, compared to the best realtime records. About the run: I was really impressed by the speed and the glitchyness of it. I sadly never played the game back in the days, but it was still very entertaining to watch. You should definitely do the other cups as well!
