Who to vote for. I like all of Aqfaq's runs. Whever you see an Aqfaq run in the queue, you know they are going to be unique and these are no exceptions. Emu had a couple of good runs and Dynamite Headdy, which was a great one. Upthorn took four great looking games and made very tight runs of them as well, and JXQ's runs are just fun, with Sub-Terrania, and both Knuckles and Sonic in the original Sonic the Hedgehog. All four of them could get my vote depending on my mood. In the end, I voted for Aqfaq, just to stir things up, and because he wasn't afraid to show us the dark side of Genesis gaming.

Well, for pure speed, I think Legacy of the Wizard Wins. However, Harmony of Dissonace with it's glitching comes pretty close, and Biker Mice from Mars goes so fast the camera can't keep up. I think I'll go for entertainment because of speed, in which case Biker Mice gets my vote.

Well, normally in the TASer catergories I look for variety first and foremost. However, it seems that most of the TASers here pretty much stuck to one thing, so for his great work on the Castlevania trilogy, I'm voting for zggzdydp

For me, it's Castlevania, hands down.

Tough one. I'm torn between adelikat and Randil, since both released a large number of high quality runs on the system this year. (Baxter also had good ones, but his runs are dominated by Arkanoid and Tetris (although Legend of Zelda was insane and the quad run was good, too)) In the end I voted for Randil because of the games he chose, some games which are well known, some which are more obscure, and many games that were long overdue for an obsoletion. Darkwing Duck alone is enough to qualify him, I think.

Actually, I tested it, and got the same value to work for two different skeleton knights, which allowed me to skip one for another that was easier to manipulate the value.

Well, it assigns each memory value a soul drop number, which if I knew what that meant would probably make it easier to find the right value instead of just going around randomly until a soul drops and working from there, which is what I'm doing now?

I'd like to nominate JXQ as an overall TASer of 2007. I think we need a couple more TASes to fill out the Genesis catergory. Maybe Dynamite Headdy or Comix Zone. I also think that Comix Zone might qualify for a glitchy TAS award.

For overall TASes, I think the winner from each catergory could be nominated. Overall TASers should be nominated separately because there are some big ones who don't necessarily shine on a single system. Also, for the system dependant nominees, could you list their runs on that system. It would make it easier to decide.

Hey, it might be wishful thinking, but does anyone on this forum know how to use VBARead? I'm sure it would be very useful if I could understand what it was saying. Without help, though, it just seems like random numbers to me.

I liked this movie. The boss fights were fun for the most part, and the antics of the two characters kept it fresh, though at times I was rolling my eyes at the transparent jokes. I'm kind of sad that using your partner as a weapon never came up, especially since the two characters spent most of the movie beating each other up, it would have fit quite nicely at least once. Simon's fight is what I have the most issue with. The glitching might have been cool for a bit, but the entire boss fight? It's too long to just have it glitching the entire time. I say it's a yes vote, but it could be better.

Well, I'm not sure how the DOSBOX emulator will work once it's out, but it might not have mouse support at first, making QFG1 the best choice simply because you aren't required to use a mouse. I do like the remake better, though. As for your other questions, no you do not need to defeat Baba Yaga. Try it for yourself. Go to the castle right after dealing with the brigands. The game will end. The back route might be better. If it seems either way will be a forced fight, which just might be the case, then a string of brigands could possibly be easier to defeat than Fred. I'm not sure if I can sneak past the minotaur after that, though. The reason that you don't have to get the note is you can still enter the brigand fortress without hearing that conversation. It's mostly meant to give hints and provide the fighter with the key. I don't encounter the Kobold in my run anyways. I don't even go near the cave where he is except to pick flowers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "use bullet souls for fun" I use that soul quite often, and the only enemy either pirate or I actually killed with a bullet soul, after the first few rooms at least, was Buer, and we both did that. If you mean that I don't switch out to other bullet souls often enough, I'm planning to do that. When I redo the last room (since I'm not satisfied with it), I'm going to equip the ghost soul, which I'll then trade for student witch when I get that. I know it doesn't say that on my outline, but I've been playing around a bit, and I think that's best. Are you sure you mean Medusa head? I can see how it might pull on RNG, but I don't see how hovering in midair is a speed boost. Is it possible you mean Manticore? That calls on RNG every four frames which would be tied for the best of the souls I have at the moment. Losing control of my character might be a problem though. In my opinion, the soul that does best at calling RNG at the least cost is Imp, and I'm pretty sure that will be one of my favorites throughout most of the run. The reason I'm collecting more than one soul of each kind is more for entertainment than for Headhunter. I don't think I can collect enough souls to make Headhunter better than Triton, or Lubicant. However, the idea of the run is making it look like you can just speed through the game and souls will just come to you, so I thought it only natural that I should collect as many souls as possible without showing any significant slowdown to make it look especially easy. (I would love to have at least one room where I just speed through and every enemy I kill releases a soul)

Forbidden Zone is the place behind the waterfall in the Underground Reservoir. Normally, you'd need both Undine and a transformation soul to get through. I'm looking to skip that step.

Hey, I'm not sure which thread to post this in. I don't know if pirate_sephiroth is still working or planning on working on this, but I decided to take on a(n) 100% souls run on normal difficulty as a long on-going side project. Here's what I got so far, using what I learned in the threads (all three of them) and some of the WIP's posted. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/973412488/ariaofsorrowallsouls.vbm Let me know what you think. Again not trying to step in on anyone's territory. I mostly just like the idea (and want to practice luck manipulation). By the way, here's an outline of my planned route through the castle, since I'm all about sharing information, and the discussion would be fun. Let me know if I missed something. Aria of Sorrow planning: EDIT: Here's the short version if you don't want to read the long one: As normal through Great Armor, then Dance Hall, then Clock Tower, then through the Underground Reservoir to the Arena, fighting Legion on the way. After that, I fight Graham, then go to the Headhunter and pick up Chronomage, then to the Forbidden Area for one soul that isn't found anywhere else. Finally I go to Chaos. However, Dance Hall can be done at any time without affecting the route too much. I'd like to know whether you think I should do it sooner or later. Advantages of sooner: higher levels for every boss fight afterward (and a couple armors). Reasons to do it later: Tsuchinoko. /EDIT Question: Is there any way to glitch straight to the Forbidden Zone? Ways to manipulate RNG: 1.attack 2.cause damage 3.slide 4.scroll the screen (vertically at least) 5. make the enemies take action 6. partical effects (e.g. clouds of dust, souls flying through the air, fire effects) Enemies that call RNG on every frame and thus are my friends: 1. zombie 2. skeleton 3. merman 4. bat (apparently) 5. ghost 6. any of the large armors 7. golems? 8. medusa heads? Well, I tried, and although it gives you a nice boost, the place it puts you puts too much stuff in the way, so ultimately it's slower.

Man, I would so like to see a run that doesn't use the DSS glitch. That takes out an immediate warp to Dracula, and means the TASer can manipulate card drops, which I know from playing take forever. Also boss fights will be more interesting because it won't be just using skeleton all the time.

Best way to learn is by doing, and don't worry if it's bad. Everyone's first run is bad.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/687250413/Aero2.gmv Goddamit I hate these enemies. There's very little youcan do to manipulate them. Most of the time if they're going to jump, they will jump, and evey time they jump they jump right when it's impossible to avoid them. Anyway, I'm restarting the run because I realized something stupid. You can skip level introduction text. Hopefully my luck will be better this time around. For now enjoy the weird cutscene after the movie is done.

I really think that a better goal for a Tony Hawk run would be as many goals as possible in the time alloted. Basically, you go through each level once, but complete as many goals as you can. This would be more interesting to watch and would contain more oportunities to impress. This might be more true for THPS 2 than 3, though. In 2 it's probably impossible to 100% the levels in the time given. As it stands, the movie doesn't really impress me that much. The levels go by too fast and you spend most of the time waiting for the next level to load. Contests are especially boring. Skating for one second then quitting out is not fun to watch. So while the run may be optimized, I'm going to have to vote "no" on this one.
