Done Enjoy the ending. What there is of it, at least. Joker never really had a chance. What do you think Aqfaq (or Ideamagnate if he's still around)? Is it submission worthy?

That was almost too short. Excellent run. Those bosses were beaten extra quick. Yes vote.

Boss refights done. Pretty straightforward, I think.

I think there are some hacks floating around that are like that.

Thanks. I tried to keep the action up with close calls and such, but there's not that much you can do. Another problem with that level is it's just too damn long. Oh well. Gotham Cathedral is next.

I'm kind of ambivalent about this one. It's obviously a large improvement over the previous video and there are some great moments, but having one character leave the side on every screen gets kind of annoying after a while (I know it was to reduce lag, but still). It also seems like most of the boss fights are spent waiting for the boss to get up. I don't know this game very well, but can it be manipulated so that doesn't happen that often. It probably deserves to be published, but I think I'm going to vote meh on this. I do think using your partner as a weapon is awesome, though.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3811/arkiandruski-batman-wip.gmv I just figured out how to rename my files on micro-storage. I posted these three levels together because not much happens in any of them. I tried a few different routes in the platform section, and the one I use is just a few frames faster. The theme for the flying stage is missile slalom. That helicopter has a ridiculously small hit-box for the size of the sprite.

Count me in for another yes vote. It was well played and fun to watch. BTW my sound synced with the video just fine, so I didn't really get to see the spinning in time with the music because it was off for me.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3756/Batman%20%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv There's a lot of things I like about my new third level, as well as a few I don't like. I'm now about 2000 frames ahead of my practice run. Boss battles are better. The first half of the level is amazing. However, once I get to the top floor, a new chandelier which wasn't there in the practice run appears. Why? I don't know. Aqfaq, have you seen the driving level from the practice run? If so, what did you think of it.

Wait. Do we want it to be friendly for people playing normally as well? Or does that matter?

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3729/Batman%20%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv Well, here's the rest of level 2, at least. I tested the backwards jump in a few places. There were only two where it actually saved time: The shortcut that Aqfaq found and the place where the screen scrolls before the boss. I did find out that you can use it to prevent platforms from stopping you, though whether that will actually be utilized in the final run remains to be seen. I've hit a snag in my rough run because I'm about to go into the boss refights with only ten batarangs. Fighting bosses with only your fists makes it go very slow. I'm going to try to get as many batarangs as possible without losing time to make sure I have them when I get there. Total frames improvement: over 1000.

Well, it looks like not dying is actually faster than dying on level 2 Compare: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3681/Batman%20%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv and http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3683/Batman%20test%20file%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv The reason for this is you have to wait for the screen to center on Batman when he dies after using the shortcut before the game registers new input. I, however, still think the death route's funnier and more unexpected, so now I need to decide whether a speed/entertainment tradeoff is worth forty frames. Opinions? EDIT: Nevermind, I've decided. I'm going the non-death route. If you continue a little bit further on the death route, the screen scrolling becomes wonky and results in more lost frames. It's not worth that much.

See no reason why this shouldn't be published. The puzzles actually do a good job of breaking up the action.

Yeah, it's really fast so far. Do I see a missed attack around the 20 second mark? Is there a reason that's there?

I just meant in general. I don't think I'll need it on this game that much, but there are a few games I'm planning on doing in the future where that will benefit me greatly. What about finding the NRG (is that right?) for luck manipulation? I'm not sure how exactly you can search for that, or know it you have the right values.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3656/Batman%20rough%20run%20%28UE%29%20%5B%21%5D.gmv Gotham City Street is done, and we go straight into another auto scroller. I think pacifict is the way to go in the skies. The enemies are pretty sparse at first, but it does pick up. Also, when you go down, your hit box grows a lot. Luckily, this level is a lot shorter than the driving one. I think this may be the only point where taking damage in the game actually saves time. Usually it leads to lost momentum, but here, there's very little momentum to be lost. The boss is invincible when running with the swords. When I go through for real, I'll try to hit him three times the first time he jumps over my head. Can anyone help me with reading RAM? I open up RAM search, and all I see are numbers. Are there any values that are normally what you want to see, or easy ways to make sense out of it?

Yeah, one person saying it won't work doesn't mean noone wants to see it. I'd love to see it done, personally.

This seems like a pretty ambitious project, but if you can do it, it should be worth it. I watched your avi, and so far it looks pretty good. One request: on future avis could you have the ssound be the the sound that's coming out of the games? Two things, I notice you never really get fast enough to leave the camera. Might be a few exploits there. Also, you can take damage. I don't know if anything in that run would lead to a faster route on any of the games if you took damage in one, but it would worth checking out. How close to finishing at the same time do you think you can get?

I think it will be. That grappling hook takes about fifteen frames to latch on, and then there's wasted time when you jump up because it pulls you a few feet above the platform. Also, with the death I have to do one less jump after I land. http://www.savefile.com/files/445874 Here's my idea for the driving level. I didn't try to make it perfect, just good enough to see what I was thinking. If this works, I'll make it a lot better in the real run. I've also gone back to see if I can't improve the game. I left the first level intact, since I'm pretty sure none of the new tricks I learned would make that level faster. However, I worked a few new strategies on the first boss, and was able to make it forty frames faster. You can see it here. http://www.savefile.com/files/445874 Anything else I can do to improve this before I tackle level 2?

Is it possible to do it without dying if you don't use the grappling hook? I've been playing around with it a bit, and it seems that I have to choose between the two. If that's so, I'd decide to take the death to save frames. EDIT: I have an idea for the driving level and was wondering if it would seem amatuerish to kill the cars and tanks but not the vans.

Love that video. Death abuse for the win. The savestates are pretty cool, too. I can tell this is going to be a fun run. Two things: what do you think of my two boss battles, (levels 1 and 3) and do you have any suggestions for making the autoscrolling levels entertaining? EDIT: Just wanted to add that the part you skip was my least favorite part of the level 2 run at the moment.

Will do. I plan on doing what I can to make it perfect. I want this to be good, and TAS's are kind of fun if a lot of work. http://www.savefile.com/files/437536 Level 1 and 2 haven't changed. I just did a quick run-through of the third level through the sword guy. Some notes on this: This level seems designed to make you wait. The chandeliers fall at the exact wrong time. The platforms are too far apart to just jump up them, and enemies are in just the wrong place. I use a variation on the jump that I've been using throughout this run. It doesn't change the length of the jump, it just changes the speed the screen scrolls. This is used to change Batman's position on the screen, which comes in handy in a few instances. I don't thinks there's any part of level 1 or 2 where this is necessary, though. Those chandeliers are really annoying. They seem to be triggered by a mix of where Batman is and where the screen is. The important thing is they don't start falling until they are on screen, so they are a bit, but not very, manipulatable. Apparently if you jump backwards into a wall, you can land on it. I used this once, but I can think of a few other places where it can save time. This level also features my first attempt at dancing (when I use my grapple hook in the second shaft). I found out how hard it actually is. After going through and making sure everything lined up, I found that when the movie is played from the beginning, it doesn't. Lesson learned, I guess. Areas for improvement: See if I can't fast jump to the first chandelier. What I have now is probably a little bit sloppy. Use wall-jumping ability to cut down waiting time in shafts. Other?

I think something from Ouzo's three player Lost Vikings has to be up there somewhere. I like using Olaf's shield to skip most of a level in prehistoric times, Erik dying right as the level ends in Egypt, or the end of the final boss fight are great moments.
