Hey WST, please stick around. I, personally, had no idea what "loli" meant until I checked some of the links provided on here. I'm guessing it's an ambiguous term that got taken the wrong way? Either way, it's always good to clarify if certain terms have different meanings. Please don't be hesitant to make any posts. We're all a community here. So tell me, why were you in Maykop city for 7 years? Was it for university?

Admittedly, this is a bit early to bring up, but I had a great idea for a tasvideos related New Year's Resolution, and I wanted to hear what ideas anyone else in the community had. For me, my resolution is to rate more movies. I've (and I'm sure others) noticed it's been a little hit-or-miss nowadays regarding people's publications getting rated. So, I've decided to make a commitment here and set a goal of rating one movie a day for an entire month. To track my progress, I'll edit this original post and list the corresponding day and movie that I rated, according to site guidelines. Feel free to join me on this journey :) 01/01/2015: [2469] Genesis Phantasy Star II "warp glitch" by AmaizumiUni in 12:03.41 01/02/2015: [2712] DS Nanashi no Geemu by jlun2 in 54:20.63 01/03/2015: [2669] SNES The Ren & Stimpy Show: Veediots! by jaysmad in 17:32.28 01/04/2015: [2734] Genesis Blades of Vengeance "warps, 2 players" by Kiske in 05:02.71 01/05/2015: [2648] PSX Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (Japan) by NhatNM in 16:34.17 01/06/2015: [2721] GBA X-Men: The Official Game by TehBerral in 13:26.53 01/07/2015: [2683] NES Trojan by MESHUGGAH in 06:14.33 01/08/2015: [2591] Genesis ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron "best ending" by Flip in 49:23.95 01/09/2015: [2748] SNES Mortal Kombat 3 "playaround" by Dark Noob in 22:54.22 01/10/2015: [2561] GBC Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! by illayaya in 43:05.06 01/11/2015: [2649] SMS Land of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse by Mephistus in 25:11.05 01/12/2015: [2630] Genesis Ecco the Dolphin by Itresad in 20:44.95 01/13/2015: [2697] NES Kyatto Ninden Teyandee by Ti_ & Ferret Warlord in 08:56.65 01/14/2015: [2643] DOS Jazz Jackrabbit "extra episodes" by Ilari, Noxxa & slamo in 14:35.87 01/15/2015: [2714] Genesis James Bond 007: The Duel by Dimon12321 in 11:46.39 01/16/2015: [2726] Genesis Mr. Nutz by Archanfel in 29:13.85 01/17/2015: [2663] NES Bionic Commando "all items" by McBobX in 19:27.16 01/18/2015: [2720] Genesis X-Men by jaysmad in 07:04.48 01/19/2015: [2545] NES Ninja Jajamaru: Ginga Daisakusen by MESHUGGAH in 15:16.06 01/20/2015: [2709] PSX Samurai Shodown II by NhatNM in 17:10.02 01/21/2015: [2654] SNES GS Mikami: Joreishi wa Nice Body by Odongdong in 18:03.62 01/22/2015: [2742] SNES Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie "2 players" by KusogeMan in 27:28.75 01/23/2015: [2657] PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night "pacifist, low level" by ForgoneMoose in 21:08.62 01/24/2015: [2668] GBC Oddworld Adventures II by Samtastic & Dooty in 20:03.78 01/25/2015: [2622] NES Armadillo by TASeditor in 18:16.93 01/26/2015: [2580] GBA Doraemon: Midori no Wakusei Dokidoki Daikyuushutsu! by PGCX864 in 26:24.48 01/27/2015: [2612] SNES The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie "2 players" by jaysmad in 15:57.01 01/28/2015: [2563] GB The Incredible Crash Dummies "best ending" by Flip in 18:13.93 01/29/2015: [2743] Lynx Pac-Land "warpless" by CoolKirby in 25:18.63 01/30/2015: [2744] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "newgame+" by marzojr & Aglar in 27:31.29 and finally... 01/31/2015: [2754] PSX Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus "100%" by Samtastic & Dooty in 2:08:28.40 I rated a LOT more than these this month, but here I focused on rating those which had 2 or fewer ratings. Merry Christmas to you as well, Kurabu! I remember turning 18 being a bit stressful, as well. It definitely took some getting used to around August when I realized I didn't have to go back to class again, lol. So many memories... I was a film projectionist for a multiplex cinema at that time, and we had some huge movies release around that period. Spiderman, Star Wars: Episode II, M. Night Shyamalan's Signs. Lots of good memories!

BTW Spike, can you replace the old screenshot with your new one please?
NO. Because the game deliberately shows the screen like that during gameplay. There are a few other games (which have been TASed) which does this too. So I'm against not showing a native screen to the game. Also, there's your reason feos.
Constructive advice, Spikestuff: It would really benefit you to learn to conduct yourself more respectfully towards others. Responding to Kurabu's question didn't require typing NO in all caps and bold. That comes off like you're responding in anger/annoyance. Your explanation was reason enough (that, and he asked politely). And the condescending remark was completely unnecessary.

Thankfully, I have no firsthand accounts of war. I can't fathom being in a kind of situation where it's me, an incoming enemy combatant, and my firearm--and it's either shoot or get shot. Or even worse: unarmed combat to the likely death; because now you're in a situation where two human beings are trying to take one life, in the most pure and terrible intimate setting. War is hell enough to read about, let alone to experience. However, I am reminded of a historical book I read about George Washington, during the period where he was leading his Revolutionary War troops in the dead of a bitter cold winter. They were desperately short on supplies, including food and warm clothing. Some soldiers were even eating their shoe leather, it got so dire. One shocking excerpt from this book noted that you could tell when the Revolutionary War troops had marched through a town, due to the bloody footprints left embedded in the snow. I may dig this book out sometime and type out this chapter. Very compelling read.

What is the point of showing user gender on the forums? Genderism is a potentially discriminatory social construct that has nothing to do with a piece of text displayed on an Internet forum, so why? Why would anyone want to label their mind with contingent labels?
Aqfaq, this is just my take here and, while we probably won't see eye to eye, I only intend to have a civil exchange of ideas. I've noticed here recently that there's been a bit of a movement regarding gender equality and, as you put it, genderism as a social construct. Now I have, at least, a degree of familiarity with these topics as I came across them quite a bit during my time at University (I'm a communication major, in real life). While I'm familiar with it, there's one foundation of thought that I don't agree with at all: With the exception of medical anomalies, people are either born male or female. Specifically, you're born either with a set of male or female sexual organs. It's not a label. It's what you are. With that said, I agree with you that gender discrimination is a terrible reality. You know, the mindset of "Well, your such-and-such because you're a man!" or "You're no good because you're a woman!". And it obviously gets more graphic than that (trying to keep my language clean). A lot of people have been hurt, both ways, due to this. As for this forum, I've gotta truthfully say that this is a pretty chill, welcoming place (for the most part). I've noticed that when things get heated and people start disrespecting others, the mods are usually quick about handling it. And I'm sure many of us here would defend one another and least try to solve the dispute peacefully if a debate/disagreement/whatever gets out of line. As for me, I try to address others as if they were a brother or sister. Yes, there are nuances due to gender, but never from the notion that someone is less than a human being. edit: Bobo the King, I also agree that it would be wise to eventually address a sexual harassment policy.

Have you guys ever felt fault for giving pain to your character by taking damage?
Man, that's a deep question... From the earliest I can recall, I remember Dragon Warrior 4 (NES) being one of the first RPGs I ever played; I was around 7 or 8 years old. And since I was a kid in the early 90s, with no Internet and very limited graphical capabilities, I was able to use my imagination far more than if I was playing on a modern-day console. (which was actually one of the strengths of the old-school systems. The simplistic graphics and text-driven stories really allowed your imagination to "fill in the gaps" when playing) Anyhow, there were a lot of moments in that game where I developed a strong empathy for the characters throughout the game's 5 chapters. I remember Taloon (Ch. 3) being one of my favorites, since he seemed like a kind, jolly merchant who was striving to chase after his dreams and support his wife and son. So during Ch. 5, there's a point where you're controlling the hero and you're heading towards a port city in search of a ship. Upon reaching here, you discover that powerful monsters have overrun the lighthouse outside of town and are preventing any vessels from leaving shore. What's worse, Taloon went to the lighthouse by himself and is trying to fight them off alone! So I'm thinking at the time, "Taloon!! Help's on the way!" as I rush out of town and jet toward the lighthouse :D So to respond to your question WST, I was very engrossed into the story and the thought of one of my favorite characters being hurt invoked a strong reaction out of me in wanting to help and protect him.

If someone had the patience and time, perhaps it would be a good idea to provide a YouTube video tutorial of how to create a compiled build? (that or, as Beed28 suggested, offer a link to an already compiled build) edit: Thanks, Solarplex and zeromus, for providing the video tutorial and dropbox links!

I think there's been some good points/ideas presented in this thread so far. Would there be any way though for people to upload some images, or technical demos, of their ideas also? For example, a while back arandomgametaser provided this example image of an idea I had for showcasing videos on the front page for the Vault tier: http://i.imgur.com/GfmW3pP.png Maybe seeing some visual examples from everyone would better bring about some changes to the site?

Well, my only concern about that is the amount of traffic a published thread gets over one that's still in the Workbench. But either way, it would make the movie rating feature more visible.

I think that would also be best. Maybe have the rating option appear right after one gives their vote.

I was thinking the same a little while back. Having that option upfront would be very likely increase the number of ratings. I think scrimpeh and solarplex's ideas are good, too.

Someone just posted up a new WIP of FFX, ending at the point where Rikku appears and joins Tidus in the Klikk boss fight. Link to video I haven't been following following along with time records, but this is looking pretty good.

(is it just me or is the sound not working on the encode?) Welcome to tasvideos, Alyosha! Your TAS is looking nice so far. I would love to eventually see a published run of Mission Impossible. One thing I am curious about in your WIP. At about 1:28 in the video, could it be faster to take this route in the room with the ON/OFF switch, instead?
Cutting up through the middle, instead of sneaking around.
Hope to see a finished run from you :)

If you keep putting in the work that you've done so far, I could see it being a Moon-tier run. If it doesn't cost any time, I'd recommend making your own style out of the cursor movements (I've noticed you've done that, in places, waiting on the game). Kind of like putting your own "artist's touch" on things.
