I'm using that exact version. Actually, I just now got halfway through the file before it de-synced on me again. The weird part is, it's like the game gets stuck on a loading screen and "hangs", or won't load back to the overworld map. Is this a common quirk with Dolphin?

Hi, guys. Could I get a trustworthy member of the community to look into verifying this movie file? I'm not sure whether the problem is emanating from my end, but I just have not been able to get this to successfully sync for me (despite attempting to do so, these past few days).
Here are the settings which the author stated he used, along with the md5 checksum:
I appreciate the help :)

The Difficulty Level DIP switches determine the number of enemies that spawn at Ambush Points, and determine the number of enemies that are allowed to simultaneously occupy the screen. They also determine the amount of damage that a Hero's attack does. This game uses physical DIP switches, rather than digital. Because there is no digital interface, the DIP switch settings must be adjusted in the emulator prior to Power-On. After Power-On, the DIP switch settings cannot be changed until Reset or Power Off. The status of these DIP switches is indicated in the RAM. When a recording is created, these RAM values are permanently set and cannot be changed, even by a memory cheat. Due to the rather different nature of arcade machines, difficulty settings may not always be readily apparent in a TAS. For Final Fight, Memory Address 00FF8064 indicates the DIP switch status of Difficulty Level 1, Difficulty Level 2, and Extend. In this case, a value of 11 indicates that the recording was made at Normal Difficulty Level 1 (2 out of 4) and Normal Difficulty Level 2 (4 out of 8). These are the default settings for the game.
Hey, £e Nécroyeur. Just wanted to respond and state that I read your message and tried to adjust the DIP switch settings, as you described. However, upon opening the emulator and trying to adjust, I get this screen:
The 'Set dipswitches...' option is greyed out until a ROM is loaded up. I also tested running Final Fight with the highest settings and didn't notice any significant differences. Anyhow, if there's something that can be done to adjust the settings that I'm not aware of, feel free to respond (I'm still learning how to run all the various emulators).

Keep this guide coming, guys! You're making a layman like me feel like he could know what he's doing on encoding movies, lol.

Does anyone know offhand what the differences in difficulty are for this game? edit. Just tested the movie file with both difficulty dip-switches set to 'hardest'. Everything still syncs fine!

Aside from the quicker text speeds, the major differences that I noticed on this submission occurred during the boss fights. Here's a list of certain battles, in order, in which significant time differences occurred between the two runs: TRIAL CAVE Battle #3: Slime(s) julius_x: 440 frames Gunty: 153 frames BOSS: Regal Goblin julius_x: 2957 frames Gunty: 2576 frames MINI-BOSS: Follower x2 julius_x: 1226 frames Gunty: 767 frames BOSS: Camu julius_x: 6210 frames Gunty: 4601 frames BOSS: Tarantula julius_x: 8526 frames Gunty: 8244 frames BOSS: Danielle 1 (red clown) julius_x: 3123 frames Gunty: 2702 frames BOSS: Pierre 1 (blue clown) julius_x: 3454 frames Gunty: 2988 frames BOSS: Pierre 2 julius_x: 1534 frames - faster time! Two of the boss fights, however, were quicker! So this is an encouraging sign that the current run can be obsoleted if faster strategies are implemented.

I'm close to reaching a verdict on this run. Aside from syncing and version issues, what do you guys think about the game play? Was it an entertaining run for you?

Man, I'm LOVING IT! No more boss re-fights in not just one, but two Mega Man games! Looking forward to both submissions :)

I'm pleasantly surprised to finally see a run of NES Final Fantasy II submitted! Despite mostly being a trek through the overworld in order to reach the Deist Cavern, I found the overall payoff entertaining enough to give a 'yes' vote. Outstanding work, Pirohiko! ...so whose up for making a run of FF7? :)

Well, the text boxes are definitely much faster. However, I've been noticing places where the published run is still faster. edit: Since I've claimed the run for judging, I'll create a new post in the thread detailing the full time differences.

You guys have made quite the improvement to this, and it's been a pleasure watching the series of finds and improvements implemented to bring this down to a much, much lower time than the original submission. Easy yes vote. Keep running forward on the 'first 500', Alyosha :)

Nice work, Samsa! I was especially impressed with the amount of movement choreography that you put into the run (moving in tune with the BGM, and all the subtle reactions that the main character had with the bosses and NPCs, and such). Yes vote. edit: Someone made an encode on niconico. Already past 10k views! Congrats, man!

Hey everyone, does TASVideos have an active link or account where you can send donations to? In particular, I'd like to contribute an amount to emulator development (as a big "thank you" for releasing PSXHawk!).

Hey d-feather, I know this is probably a bit down the road planning-wise, but have you considered getting the 'cola bottle' in the prehistoric chapter? I loved playing this game, back in the day. Hope you finish this TAS!

EXCELLENT work, guys! Been looking forward to seeing PSXHawk released. Btw, is there a donation page set up for emulator development? I'd like to donate an amount in that direction.

Zanoab, Concerning the Colorado pics, if you check closely they are timestamped on the 17th and 19th of June, last month. They were also taken in the morning hours, at around 10 and 8 o'clock, respectively. Here's a better quality image of the one taken on the 19th: http://oi57.tinypic.com/r8e5w4.jpg

Everyone...regardless of the reactions this thread may get, I feel it is my duty to share this information with you and, at the least, give you the opportunity to view it for yourself and make a decision. The topic of this thread concerns an extra-planetary object that has allegedly entered our solar system and is now in orbit around the sun. I don't present this information lightly as, when informed of this phenomena about a month and a half ago, I was very skeptical upon hearing it. However, upon doing my own research and checking things out for myself, I am convinced that this is not some kind of hoax. This is the evidence that I've compiled up so far that I believe is the most compelling. In the near future, I'll add more to this post as I come across it. You're, indeed, free to have any opinion you wish about all of this. Again, I just feel that it is my obligation to share what I've uncovered. update 07/16: -Added section "SUPPORTING VIDEO" w/ one new video. VIDEO EVIDENCE
"Two Suns" 2014 compilation. Shown footage taken from Canada, Hungary, and Neumayer Station in Antarctica. Satellite footage from NASA also included.
"Dual sunrise" caught on film in Nova Scotia.
Part 2 of above video. Camera is left in position for 20 minutes to prove phenomena is not due to window glare.
Additional footage shot 3 weeks later. Object is now on left-hand side ofthe sun, instead of the right.
Footage pulled from live webcam in Mexico. Sun sets at approximately 18:30. At 18:56, second "sun" momentarily peeks over horizon.
Recently uploaded on July 1st (footage allegedly shot in California). Record-like object is used to filter sun's glare, revealing additional planet-like object orbiting nearby.
SUPPORTING VIDEO
Covers intricate crop circle design which appeared on 06/23/15, in Turin, Piedmont, Italy.
The Sumerian Stars Tablet and Mayan Calender artifacts were used to interpret this as a 16-month Lunar calendar, covering the future time period (and corresponding events) of 07/15 to 09/16.
ADDITIONAL PICTORIAL EVIDENCE
Taken in Colorado (I know the photographer, personally). A sheet of welder's glass was used to filter out the sun's glare.
If you look closely at the first photograph, you'll notice a "Saturn" like translucent image which is similar to the object caught on the NASA satellite screen capture, at the top of the page.

Hello Gay. Was any of Kurabu's inputs or general strategies used on this improvement?

Ah, so it's a phony lead, eh? Ah well... Anyhow, I've got a short 1st WIP uploaded. The game plan in the beginning was to avoid level-grinding and tedious enemy spawn manipulations for all of those slimes. I more or less ran straight through them and got the level 3 gun, with little issue. From there, I had to do a small bit of spawn manipulation at the two houses in order to get the keys needed for the 'vice grips' and 'dynamite'. Dynamite, especially, should make the sewers a bit easier to deal with. As for future WIPs, I might upload new ones after a new boss is defeated.

So I'm thinking about doing a 100% run in the near future, where all of the inventory items are collected from fellow Addams family members on the overworld (as well as all life-ups, etc.). Also, I'm thinking about foregoing the 'boss skip' glitches to make the run more entertaining. Any thoughts? Also, I tried watching Sonikkustar's sub-10 TAS, but the video is private... Can anyone elaborate more on this wall glitch?

Looking forward to checking this out, Malleoz! I'm really impressed with how much this run has been improved on, over the past year.

Before the tone of this thread escalates further, I'd like to (even if only temporary) nudge it into a different direction. Zeromus and everyone on the dev staff: Thank you for your hard work and contributions to this site. BizHawk, especially, has been the best emulator I've used and made TASes with. From one semi-anonymous avatar to the other--you're appreciated. With that said, I can understand that it can get quite annoying when newbie questions are asked out of blue; moreso, I imagine, in such a technically skilled field as programming. On that, I would only respectfully urge that patience and kindness would be considered in these exchanges (on BOTH ends). After all, we're all a close-knit community that shares the same interests in regards to speedrunning our favorite video games. Anyhow, I hope everyone involved can take a deep breathe and forgive one another. Hope everyone has a good evening/morning/afternoon/etc. :)

Kurabu, being a laymen on the subject, I also don't have the slightest idea on how to implement emulator cores into Bizhawk (and would likely need years of programming experience to comprehend it). However, I recommend checking out this video Bisqwit made a couple of years back where he created an NES emulator using C++11. I have no idea what's going on, but it's fun to watch :)
