The house music reminds me of the Dragon Warrior 2 overworld theme... Good run, Kurabu! This game had me laughing out loud at certain points (the ole' breaking the vase by kicking the ball inside the house). The stages were also varied enough to keep things interesting throughout the 10-minute video. I think you've found your niche in TASing penguin-themed game :)

It was a fun watch (voted yes) and a "boss rush" hack of Sonic 1 & 2's battles is an interesting idea. However, TASVideos site policy is firm on forbidding publications that use game genie, pro action replay, or any other use of "cheat" codes. Felipe, would you be interested in doing a 1-player run of this game in the future and eventually re-submitting? That way, you would not only have a run that's within the site rules, you would also have a very good chance of having it published.

Hey guys. I realized that I never really wrote up a description for the publication that included exactly what defines this '100%' branch. If an editor gets time, can he/she revise the publication description for me with what I have below? I greatly appreciate it! Landstalker is a challenging adventure RPG developed by Climax Entertainment (who also helped develop the Sega 'Shining' series). You play as an adventure-seeking treasure hunter named Nigel, an elf who's remarkably young-looking for his age (88!). After completing his latest bounty, he runs into a wood nymph named Friday who's being pursued over her alleged knowledge of the whereabouts of King Nole's treasures. After helping evade her pursuers, the two team up as they set off for Mercator Island, in search for the fabled fortune. Are King Nole's treasures truly close by? Are they ripe for the taking, or still jealously guarded to this day...? In ars4326's run, 100% completion is based on RTA strats and is defined as follows: Collect all Life Stock (minus the shop in Kazalt) Obtain all equipment All unique/key items Complete all side quests Activate all teleport trees edit: Big THANK YOU to whomever responded so quickly! It looks great!

Not all that entertaining, but pretty cool that another new platform is now TASable on BizHawk! So I take it that no time could have been saved by stocking up on less food? Was that luck manipulation dependent on having food supplies maxed?

Care to elaborate what does TASVideos benefit from submitting/accepting whatever months old TASes for a video game (unbiased, rejecting the "root of tasing" thing) that based on weird assumptions/observes? I'm really interested in the reasons why is this allowed as an exception but many smaller things are not (fucking FDS roms).
Going along with Feos's post, I'd also say that having DOOM TASes available for the general audience is among the biggest benefit. On the YouTube channel, Akse's Ultimate Doom 'Episode 2' publication has accumulated over 3300 views. That's well above the average view count that most publications get on the channel. With that stated, hopefully the situation can be ironed out better in the future.

As far as I understand, the forum library being used here is really old and full of defects and shortcomings, but it has been so much modified by the site developers (starting with Bisqwit and then his successors) that it would be a nightmare to try to upgrade to a more recent, better version.
Would it really end up being that much of a hassle to upgrade to a better version? (I admittedly know next to nothing about website development and whatnot.)

The SOTN screenshots are really looking good, Kurabu. It looks like you're getting the hang of updating screenshots, while keeping them at the lowest file size possible.

Hello, GFX. As Tangent and others have stated, it looks as though your second submission of this run is still unoptimized. It also looks like you're completing non-essential objectives, as well (as Tangent also linked to). At this point, it would be best if you would post future runs in its respective thread (I didn't immediately notice a thread made for Code Veronica...) before submitting to the Workbench to be judged. This way, others can check your work and provide feedback on whether or not it's optimized enough to submit. Otherwise, you're risking getting your movie submitting privileges suspended. I'd personally hate to see that happen, since you've been putting considerable effort into these multi hour-long runs (just not quite at the standards for TASVideos). Anyways, I hope you can constructively take this advice and eventually get a run made that's up to standard! I'm sure many here would look forward to eventually seeing more Resident Evil runs published.

@Masterjun I apologize for my stern critical remark the other day. As mklip stated, I misinterpreted the post and took it as something that it wasn't. I look forward to viewing your future work.

It "would be weird"? Why would it be weird? Try to use arguments to support your opinion. I think a password is just a word that lets you access some place, which fits this game. Uses a password, let's just keep it at that.
That came off rude. He has as much right to express his opinions about the matter as everyone else.

This has been an interesting thread, with some solid, thoughtful posts about this proposed demo/showcase tier. Can a request something, since this idea is becoming more fleshed out? How would such a proposed tier look like on the TASVideos front page? Could someone make up a 'concept page' to show off how this would look?

The Stage 1 BGM vaguely reminded me of Dragon Warrior 1's overworld theme... Good work again, Alyosha! Knocking out another one off the 'first 500' list :)

I'm impressed that you were able to tighten this glitch down even further. Congrats, and welcome to TASVideos! As for my opinion on giving a custom name, I'm fine with it as I've done it on a few of my past runs, myself. I take it as an author's way of personalizing their work. Great job, JeedUnit!

Nice job! The payoff at the end was about as crazy as the 'Palace of Four Swords' publication. The loading times for the FDS took some getting used to, but it didn't detract from the entertainment value at all. Yes vote!

Hey man, whatever tier it ends up in, this run is likely going to get a lot of views on YouTube due to being a more well-known, modern game. Someone on Niconico will also likely upload this on that channel, also. Altogether, you could get well over 10k views on this. I'd say that's pretty awesome! Keep your head up, Kurabu. Yours and Solarplex's work will pay off.

Welcome to tasvideos dxtr! This platformer would be a great game for a new TASer. You should give it a try.
Oh my, It would be awesome if dxtr had RTA and TAS WRs same time :D
Agreed! I love it when both communities come together with their ideas and improve either a TAS or RTA run. It also tends to silence the haters when you can point to people you know that hold both RTA and TAS WRs. I'd also love to see an updated TAS of this game!

Congrats you guys on finally finishing this run! I bet it feels good to get this one done :) I liked the quick, steady pace throughout and also noticed certain details that Kurabu added (e.g. playful positioning of the cursor during waiting moments). The rapid puzzle solving from Solarplex was nice to watch, as well. Great job!

While my opinions on bounties have changed slightly from a different thread I posted on in the past (can't remember where it's at, atm), I would offer a counter-suggestion that perhaps a donation to the site would a better option for a bounty?

Derakon had the right idea here. Try contacting INDIEACHIEVEMENT and, while being civil and respectful, politely let them know that you are the author of the specific footage used and that you would appreciate being credited. This is no guarantee that they'll comply. I do understand where you're coming from on wanting to receive due credit for your labor, though. I pray for this situation to work out for the best.

Don't get me wrong, the tasvideos site is already very well organized and easy to navigate through. I was thinking, however, from the perspective of the YouTube channel subscribers who might not take the time to navigate through the actual site. Would there be any possible benefit to invest in creating a type of similar organizational layout on the YouTube channel, as well?

So has the idea ever come up to organize the YouTube channel encodes into different playlists; either by individual system, more specific categories (e.g. takes damage to save time, etc.), or both?

In this case it is represented by both a sprite and a background change. The big rock that you see is a sprite (same as the big rock blocking the path between Gumi and Ryuma/Mercator), but the background has also been altered to block the door leading to Verla. Presumably this is to stop you from jumping from the top of the cliff through the door. You can verify this by using the game genie code DBAA-BAAC which allows you to float by tapping the jump button. Most sprites have a height of 3.5 - 4.5, but background changes are effective to a height of 64 (but the graphics will corrupt long before you reach this height).
Ah, that's a shame... I suspected there was something going on, due to not getting anything in test runs. I also remember fooling around with that code, years back, playing on emulator. I recall that in certain spots (definitely outside of the Lake Shrine) you could continue jumping beyond the corrupted graphics and reach another copy of the map that would contain glitched exits. In some cases, these exits would soft-lock the game.

That is awesome that you guys produced a starting lua script to show off enemy HP and damage! By my estimations, that could end up saving well over 10 seconds (at 20 frames a sword strike) in an any% run by optimizing attacks. Lordash, you mentioned that only doors represented by sprites can be hopped over. Do you know if the blocked path leading to Verla is represented by sprites or background?

Hey Nach, similar to MarioUniverseZone's pic, trying to access the 'Movies by statistics' page also produces that long list of "error_handler" undefined offset text.
