Great run! I loved the precise jumps and it's hilarious that the car behind you performs all the same slick moves too (supposedly). Absolutely yes, and I have no issue with the 2nd place finishes. If anything, it makes the run even more interesting because it's different than what you'd normally expect. Also takes more skill, as you had to finish second by just one frame. That's a lot harder than simply blasting across the finish line.

Okay, I'm going to throw in some food for thought: Whatever decision is made here will set a precedent that will be applied to other runs. So, what do we want to happen when a faster PAL version with different glitches is submitted for:
    SMB warpless SMB warpless walkathon SMB maximum coins
? Do they get all rejected because they're PAL? Do they all get new branches? Do they all obsolete the existing NTSC runs?

However this plays out... I want credit for creating the word "Obseletion"

Great run! My vote for published screenshot is the end of 8-3 with the flag just floating in the air. I won't give an opinion on obsoletion (new word!) of the NTSC run or not, but just hope the final choice is what would make this site better. What would make it more interesting for newcomers when the come to the site, and prompt more people to join our community?

What? No high score?? Yes vote anyway, I never imagined this would get TASsed. P.S. Since my vote was only the second yes vote, someone above is fibbing.

Ugh... I appreciate all the hard work put into this, but the game itself is painful to watch (and listen to). Have to vote no for entertainment on this one.

Looks well optimized, voted meh for entertainment. Using the glitch to get multiple boulder scores would definitely help on the entertainment front.

Very nice, voting Yes. Was that you timing those punches to the music during the credits or does it to that automatically?

I'm late to the party, but I'll echo everyone else: This was amazing to watch. The sheer number of enemies, hitting bosses with the back of your whip, that first elevator!! Personally, I think this borders on stars quality. Great work, zggzdydp!

It was nothing like the Mario Kart TAS. No vote. :P ... Just kidding. That was fun to watch, and I really liked that jump in Silence. Good work, Yes vote!

Even at turbo speed, this is very hard to keep interested in. Good for vault, and I sure hope you used a script to create this (instead of TASsing it manually)

I'm going to add Below the Root to the C64 wishlist. And now with Official BizHawk support, I think the C64 threads deserve their own discussion group (instead of just being in "Other Computers")

Oh man, the music sounds like a broken record. Still, I found the run more entertaining than not because of the absurd luck manipulation, and it doesn't last too long either. So here's a 'yes' vote of some description.
That's one of the things I loved about the run! Yes vote, great job!

The changes in each hole's layout was interesting enough to give this a yes vote. Good work!

Not much entertainment here. I'm sure it's well planned, just no real action to see. Watched it all the way through, though, so that's good enough for a 'Meh".

Looking at extramenu, it looks like it's just this sequence of commands:
jpcrr.vretrace_start_trap(is_on);
jpcrr.vretrace_end_trap(0);
jpcrr.timed_trap();
jpcrr.pc_start();
Awesome! Thanks a lot, slamo!

I'll stay out of the cheat/warp discussion, but I'm definitely giving it a Yes vote for entertainment.

Thanks, slamo! I was able to find functions that will create and load save states, and I think I can figure out the mouse stuff and memory inspection. One thing I couldn't find is a command to do a single frame advance. There's pc_start, but I'm concerned that will start going through many frames instead of just one. Do you know how to just advance one frame at a time?
