Still a problem. Firefox on Ubuntu. For some reason, a significant portion of the "Topic Review" is put into one of the embed frames...

Capping at native resolution rather than from encode would have been a bit less obvious (there are a few missed pixel-wide borders)...but poking values into the nametables at some likely frame would be even more easy to keep standards-compliant than image-editing (so as not to accidentally wrong-palette an inserted character). Pity it doesn't actually do that...what IS it doing during the extended wipe transition, anyway? Why does it do that rather than just start the ending sequence? (Must one bankswitch to L9's bank to access the ending routine, and level-transition is the easiest way to provoke that and still include "go to end"?)

This is not meant as a correction/criticism, but merely an interesting philosophical observation that struck me reading the last two posts: it's kind of odd that it felt natural for you to distinguish between the actions "human takes notes" and "bot memorizes" in that way,
Not distinguishing these things is the idea of Extended Cognition (or Extended Mind), put forth in a paper in 1998 by Chalmers and Clark.

Lovely use of those very particular random numbers; I'll not spoil it. Probably too large a state-space to search without a dedicated program, I expect, or possibly even with.) e: I was going to post "YARFU" Yet Another Request For Updates but you had, so it's slightly redundant. the typo "manipluate" remains in the text.

Well, the cutscenesTALKING★TIMEs were interesting, and the graphics pretty good for NES, with some unique choices, like portraits that run away from cutscenes. The music was also above-average. Except for the weapon-holding bit being so unanimated and tacked-on. Weak yes.

You neglected to mention the lava panels which have bubbles increase in size to pop after maximum, rather than the usual decrease. This is only terribly interesting in stage 95 where they checkerboarded water/lava tiles, as you never really have to worry about mixing the fuse burn direction otherwise. (Another game with no convection.) And the gimmick where one has to push the key in behind oneself. So...amateurishly translated, block names are Magic Forest, Flame Cavern, Ice Palace, Trial Tower, Dark Space, and Final Exam Tower.

Watched the whole thing, but it wasn't terribly interesting for most of it because it was usually just a case of "And how do you get the bubbles across ONE MORE panel?" Meh voting.

Is the video entertaining?
Is the gameplay portion entertaining? Reasonably so. Is three minutes of score counting up afterward entertaining? No. Still not sure what was meant by "killing the divers".

It was a good finale (definitely a thousand times better than the season 3 finale). A couple of things I personally find a bit unlikeable, though (and yes, this is a spoiler, so don't read it if you don't want to get spoiled): So now Twilight's homely, cozy treehouse library has been replaced with a big, bulky, sterile and, let's be frank, ugly, crystal castle. In the middle of the homely, cozy little village where it doesn't really belong... Ugh, I'm not sure I agree with that decision at all. It sticks out like a sore thumb, and it looks like a horrible place to live. Even after the entire season, I still can't get comfortable with Twilight being an "alicorn princess". It still feels artificial and tacked-on, with some episodes more or less forcefully trying to accommodate the fact, while other episodes basically completely ignoring it. This finale didn't help much in that regard. While I appreciate their, maybe intentional or maybe not, self-deprecating reference to Twilight not doing much as a princess, it still just doesn't fit. Her role as a "princess" makes no sense no matter how they try to force it.
Perhaps I was feeling cynical when I watched the last few, but (and also spoilers) Crystal palace? New playset possible. Equestria games stadium (with menacing icecloud?) New playset(s) possible. Super-chaos-emerald*-forms of Mane 6? New figurines possible. Transforming Tirek? New figurine set possible†. Terrorized theater with stage-magician Discord? New playset and figurine possible. Evil bookstand and "Rariot" and evil Rarity? New dress on RD and a crystal suit for Spike? New playset(s) and figurines possible. *I cannot be the only one who thought this. †Gray-eyed but NOT washed-out-colored coats? New figurine line possible.

It might make routing more interesting as there'd be incentives to go out of your way to get certain cards, too. A Fighter or Shooter mode could be good too, where the cards simply aren't available at all.
The most desirable cards are incredibly annoying to get, and not only from a non-TAS standpoint. Pluto, in particular, having all those things you want like "faster movement" or "skeleton mode" or "invulnerability". It drops from candle mimics appearing...in the very first bossroom, after you beat Camilla. Significant backtracking. Of course, for skeleton mode, you also need Black Dog, which is only available deep in the Arena. Also, Shooter mode gets cards as pickups like normal, though if I recall correctly they cannot get the last few Power cards like Pluto. A Magician-mode showcase of what you can DO with DSS would be neat (though many, like most of the attribute-boosting ones, would be boring.) Something of a 100% completion, perhaps? To show off all the effects, one would need the ring that alters Pluto+Black Dog... (I have not watched this movie.)

Maximum breaking. If the bosses weren't also well-manipulated and optimized (doing what seems like three to four times what was intended per phase) then it would've been a Meh. Yes. [unfunnyjoke] Eagerly awaiting 0-talisman run...[/unfunnyjoke]

So...9-panel combos are what summon the Bowser sign ("Kambank"), an instant kill. With luck manipulation and the "Drop more pieces!" button (X) this happens in a second or two every time. Novel, at least. Also amusing: "Kambank" says 安全第一, "Safety First!"

2) I think it's Jet Vermillion. Although you ussually unlock it by (yeah, really) beating every cup with every vehicle on master (again, yeah, really), Nintendo left a password in. Although dependent on save game name, someone decrypted it, so it could be used in a TAS.
Hey, different vehicles are differently suited to the tracks. It's actually an interesting challenge. Alternately, completing "Championship" 256 times unlocks it, I hear.

Guess I can't offer specific advice, then, and it seems like you're close enough that anything general isn't going to be good enough (top 4-quality?)

Enjoyed the movie, am pleasantly surprised that this was on SMS, though starting with two autoscrollers was a bit of a drag. At least "A Whole New World" wasn't just a bonus stage. Interesting that there was a little Prince-of-Persia-style gameplay at the palace. The first level reminded me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (NES) but faster. I presume the Path to the Lamp kills you if you grab any treasure? Oh, and "racing Jafar" was amusing, as were the screenwraps.

I'd like to finish my TAS of Ricco Harbor 1, using this trick on the Gooper Blooper, but I don't understand what is even happening here.
If I'm not mistaken, using FLUDD's spray nozzle and flipping causes a huge, instantaneous spray shot (often seen when doing the first Petey Piranha fight). I assume it's the same as the backflip in that respect, anyway.
One gets a large, scattershot burst of water when doing R+A, provided one could spray normally (thus, not just while belly-sliding) yes. However, one only does a backflip if one is on the ground standing. It does use an appropriately large amount of water, though. I can't remember, but I think there's some other proviso to rapidly activating it, like having R go to fully released between them...

I...huh. That would make more sense. I was referring to those stars IF it were achievements, but as they're not...

Woah...those were simply jaw dropping and really had me going! Always loved city trial growing up and this just easily made my day.
Neat to see the glitches and improbabilities available like the showcased "secret chamber of All-powerups" (it's always six of one item, for those uninitiated), meteor-sniping, achievement counter overflow (I'm rather surprised at that one-it's the "stars x 1" after the match, except obviously then it shows a lot more being cleared). The maxing-out of stats in under two and a half minutes is great, too, of course. (Round time is adjustable from 3-7 minutes, so it could finish before the end-of-round siren no matter what.) [font size=9]Man, that chamber full of All-upgrades would enable a non-TAS to get fully maxed-out stats too...

I think our quest for "which item to generate" has been solved
I was going to say "blessed figurine of an Archon" (which you don't pick up, just walk over) but I think "cursed figurine of an Archon" (which you DO pick up, and manipulate to transform at the right time, substituting for an egg) would be better. Other suggestions: stack of scrolls of punishment in order to get both 1. an iron chain and 2. a super-heavy iron ball. A saddle, tin opener, or other annoyingly rare tool like a grappling hook. A cursed bag of holding in which you carry a bunch of stuff and completely don't care about the chance of it eating things. Silver saber, shirt. A towel if you're not a hoopy frood yet. Demogorgon. Wand of Nothing (0:8) Slime Mold Decided how to kill(or not-kill) Vlad yet? A figurine of a Woodchuck is completely out of the question without wishing, yes?

The whole game can be done without hovering.
I was thinking spraying was going to be the problem.

Hmm. I don't suppose there are any of the moonlit valley (or whatever it's called)? The wheelie scooter is already quite nastily fast on that, without the...bounce-boost? they keep using on lap 2.
