I've tried looking at pretty much all addresses for BOF 3 to find the battle byte, to no avail. Any suggestions to find it quickly? I've tried highlighting non-zero addresses...

I'm restarting the TAS. Just with the self-attacks in the mine, I estimate the saving to at least 75 seconds. I haven't harvested treasures like Maejin, because I think it's a waste of time I have yet to find the battle address. I thought it was 0x80143F22 from a hacking guide, but to no avail

Indeed, it's a long way. But... what does it show exactly? the best road in the ice cave?

Any updates? This game has a lot of potential: any%, new game + and 100% platinum medals (also in combination with new game +, since you can import skills from previous games). The best one: random smash. Can be lethal when combined with long-range weapons

I finally found the time and patience to get the Mirror of Ra. I'm on my way to get the most rerecords ever; each fight will be hell to manipulate

Back to Reidock. I would really be curious how the original creator was able to get a royal flush at the casino. The best I could get (after a failure, not included) is a full house.

Who am I kidding? This is a TREMENDOUS reference. Except for 2 battles (the creator was either very patient or lucky), I was able to replicate his run, needing no leveling up and abusing critical its thanks to slow dialogues. I wonder if this had potential in other games

that's the "regular" run, i.e. without jobs. Still a good point of reference

New update with a first job mastered, i.e. 130 battles crammed. I can acquire job experience in Mudo's castle until level 26, so there's plenty of time. I will master jobs as long as some still need to learn; in other words I will seek explicit job experience until it can wait after the final battle to master the book of babbles (100 battles to level 6) and the book of dragons (130 battles to level 6)

On my way to defeat Mudo for good. His first fight wasn't too hard, although Muriel at 1 hp made it a little harder. And I do have to get to Reidock (dream world) before continuing. I hope skipping the magic potion in Mudo's cave won't play against me

finally about to get the mirror of ra. I will need to check the people I need to talk to in Reidock and Amoru; it's fewer than I thought

thanks, I will see it soon. I had to completely rework the run since I couldn't decently defeat the first 2 bosses otherwise. But I definitely need much fewer shield drops since I won't find a bronze shield in Riedock. And I won't need (I believe) to buy Hassan weapons until I reach San Marino

According to a code website, the address C2342A (and B) can be tricked to "Keep Getting End-of-Battle Rewards" . But I watched it for the times I had item drops and nothing changed. Am I missing something?

First WIP published. Manipulation seems fairly easy for battle; the step counter changes whenever you change screens, and WHEN you enter the next screen influences it. I'm able to get 60-75 steps before each battle. Inside battles, item drops seems fairly easy too. I just need to combine optimal battle outcomes AND item drops... Therefore, I don't think that, in the end, I will need that herb I got from the chest in the mountain pass. Let's see for that agility seed later on.

I want to make a Dragon Warrior VI TAS (for the SNES). Since the game for that console was never released for the US, no official English version exist. I did find a translation, but Bizhawk tells me it's "unknown" with a warning sign. Since I recorded my playing of the game on another website, I can use the JP version. But it's going to be so much longer to refer back to it when I shop, etc. Please advise

I'm surprised this game hasn't been attempted. I want to make a run with the best ending, i.e. all the jobs and the secret dungeon. Should I use the regular JP game or the 90% translated one? Because it's running around on the net. I've played the game, and found some tricks to speed up things, like running around Zaxon (metal babbles) and the last dungeon (King Metals). I've even calculated the level at which you stop accumulating job experience

How in hell are we supposed to use bizhawk for the PSX? I have a ROM, but it keeps telling me I'm missing the firmware, which I'm not. Discohawk even says that it can read .cue files, but that program seems useless

If I calculated this right, I already saved 10 seconds from the previous run after the first boss. Same number of fights (6), but I ran away one more time, was able to cast fireg against the first boss AND still complete the fight in 5 rounds.

After my tribulations with SOW, I've decided to revisit this game. Just before entering the Tower of Gabnid, I realized that waiting a few frames changes the step counter. More to come...

Back in the 90s, Virgin licensed this game for several consoles: SMS, Sega and SNES. Which one should I use to try and TAS it? A quick google search only yielded maps from the SMS, but I wager they would be very similar...

Is it optimized? It seems that 7-1 (?) could have used a cannon ball finish

You have no idea :P. But I'm sure Dark Kobbold (he did SF I and II) could breeze through it...
