I just went and looked in the forums / BizHawk download page for the first time in a while, and saw that there is once again a Linux build. I just wanted to mention how happy I am about it! Looking forward to try it when/if I try my hand at TASing again. Thank you to all those involved!
I am so glad to see this here! Here is the previous topic on this game (which it seems you started yourself :). I have since completed the game and of course would still be very happy to see it TASed.
Thank you for the detailed rejection notes! I am sad to see that my movie isn't as good as I thought it was, but hopefully my attempt will encourage someone with more experience to pick the game up sometime and give it a proper TAS treatment.
Here's the content of my current RAM watch list. I mostly found them by searching for differences regarding speeds ang glitched/non-glitched states, but I'm not even sure they're related to the glitch or to each other.

I have spent some time looking at this, and while I have been able to trigger the glitch many times, I have yet to understand how to do it reliably. Some enemies, like the very first enemy of the very first level, I have not been able to trigger the glitch with. It is a shame, and I will try harder, because everytime it is done, it saves a lot of time.
I did find some suspicious memory addresses, but I have not been able to understand their meaning so far. If anybody feels like helping, it may not actually be that hard...
I've just been informed that there is a glitch allowing to maintain dash speed in certain conditions (I don't know which ones exactly yet). I will definitely investigate and redo the TAS if the findings are worth it, but in the meantime, I suppose I can leave this submission open?
So, 0garrison beat his own record and even my TAS with this new run! The biggest difference is that he uses the password room after beating a boss: when one doesn't enter a password then, you can simply continue at the last save point you used, with the lizard you had. This makes for a new, very efficient route! And his execution was impeccable.
I intend on making a new TAS in a few weeks' time.
Thank you! Those platforms seem to be on some sort of global timer that may or may not be reset whenever you beat a boss. I couldn't get them positioned perfectly, but I still expected more waiting time so I'm not complaining.
I'm looking forward to see an owl jump in your next run ;)
Thank you for your comments, MESHUGGAH! :D
- At 0:07, the island is too far to jump on. I do lose some horizontal speed underwater, but it is on purpose: you can't jump as high underwater, so running full speed would make you run into a wall and lose all your speed. I slow down just enough to make the jumps.
- Unless there's something I'm not understanding, that's what I did. If I jump earlier or slow down any less, I'll hit the first platform on the way down and lose significant vertical speed.
- Around 0:40, I do bump into a wall, but for the following steps, the required horizontal speed can be gained without losing time (during the jumps). Not slowing down saves a few frames (from the tests I have done, anyway!). But many times earlier in the run, I did decelerate (e.g. when first going into the water around 0:33-0:36).
Thanks again for the comments! Coming from someone with your talent, they mean a lot :)
See here in case you haven't heard about this excellent game! It is an average-length NES game, but in TAS form it should be very short as most of the game is exploration.
This is my very first attempt at any kind of TAS, so constructive comments are very welcome! I thought I'd let you see a bit of my work before I progress further, in case I'm missing something important. I am slowly learning to use the awesome features of FCEUX's TAS Editor, but I'm pretty satisfied so far with my efficiency of the TASing task.
And sorry for the awful encode quality!

Listen to the bass-only tracks to get your groove going and feel like you only plugged your subwoofer to your console!
Get 'em feelings working and identify the 30 mysterious tracks per console!
Write down your answers here (NES, SNES) so you can compare your low-frequency skills to your friends'!
There's no prize and nothing's official so I won't send hitmen if tracks/answers are discussed, but let's keep it fun and let others guess too. Please share with other communities if you'd like, I will soon do the same!
Additional info:
Since channels aren't as "dedicated" to bass for the SNES, there are sometimes other sounds / samples used by the same channel as the bass. I've replaced (most of) those with silence.
SNES sometimes used other instruments (rather than always a bass guitar). It's still a low frequency sound, so don't be surprised if you hear a tuba or something!
I've only trimmed the tracks in case of long silences (or if they began with a silence).
Results will be announced when maybe 2 days pass with no new response.
Have fun!
P.S. The first installment of this quiz is over, but if you can still check it out if you'd like!
Oh, I see! I have never used C# or mono before, but this couldn't be more straightforward. It seems to run fine here, thank you very much! I'm using xfce but I won't need a shortcut, thanks very much anyway for the detailed explanation, I really appreciate it.
It's probably just me as I am not an experienced programmer or Linux user by any means, but I don't see a Linux executable in the compiled program link above. Am I missing something?
And thank you very much for looking into this, I really appreciate it!
> Not an attempt to beat the actual existing TAS.
Thanks for your submission, but beating existing TASes should pretty much be the point of submitting a run.
I tried this once, about 10 years ago. It cost me $300 and all I got was a "sorry, we couldn't get anything". Hard drives aren't reliable, period. Since then, I've always made sure I have at least one copy of all my important data, and never on two similar devices. Doing backups regularly suck, but now my house could burn down and I wouldn't even lose much.
