So I just found out something that may or may not be helpful. I'm sure you've noticed by now that Sonic HUD makes camhack lag. Apparently the Disable HyperFlash option is the cause of that.

Oh well I guess we'll just sort that out when we get there. @TheYogWog, Yeah I agree. I can say from experience that ring attacks, especially 2-player ones are very labor intensive. It is still enjoyable in its own aspects, but it can still take quite a toll on you. I'm just glad I was able to take some off the weight off Evil's back with these testruns. You know I've actually thought about tasing as a videogame. It is something I like to do every once in a while just like playing videogames. Of course the experience wouldn't be complete without you guys.

I checked it with frame advance. The LRZ1 hand from that run doesn't look frame perfect to me.

I do agree with you. Only using Hyper Sonic in places where it saves time is enough for me personally. Wait how would you get a frame perfect kill with the LRZ1 boss without Hyper Sonic or the instashield? I used it there to hit the hand on the first frame it became vulnerable because I thought it would be impossible to do otherwise.

Pfffft I could totally do better. I can beat this game in less than a frame. In all seriousness this is a definite yes from me. Very nice and well optimized run. I'm kinda confused about one thing though. Couldn't you do a level wrap in Scrap Brain 1 by using the flipping platforms in the begining?

Someday you definitely should, because trying to improve Aglar (or Tee-N-Tee, Zurggriff) is completely difference experience and teaches you very high attention to details. Even if you fail (which is actually quite likely), it will still affect the quality of your future runs. :)
Maybe someday. I actually have tried to improve one of Aglar's runs once which was AIZ1 any% with Tails (I was doing a testrun to see what a Tails NG+ run would be like). Let me tell you one thing. You weren't kidding about his level of optimization. I wasn't even 4 seconds in and he was already far ahead of me. I was like wtf? The rest pretty much went the same way. I'm all for paying attention to every single detail and saving every frame I can, but trying to match that level of optimization is something I don't really think I can nor want to do atm. @TheYogWog, Oh hello haven't seen you in awhile. You can send the file if you'd like, but I don't think that start is faster than this one (link below). I think we've pretty much hit the limit for the first half of AIZ1. That is if I didn't screw anything up :p I don't think I'll have too much trouble with the monitor superglide as that's just a matter of getting the right position, speed, and timing. The tunnel trick on the other hand I'm not so sure about. Knuckles ring attack gmv Yeah helping you guys with this run has been a blast. I'm a little sad that it's almost over but I suppose all good things must come to an end. Maybe I'll be able to help out with the next project. SOZ isn't even that bad in this category honestly. Act 1 is just long and Act 2 just has 1 insanely difficult trick among a few other things.

Thabks WST. I know it won't be easy. The fact that I'm trying to improve a well optimized run makes this even more difficult. At least I'm not trying to improve one of Aglar's runs XD

Thanks Evil. I'll definitely be referencing your run if I have trouble with those difficult tricks. Oh nice that is faster WST. Where all did those rerecords come from btw? The run above was just a test to see if I was capable of improving AIZ in any way which I was. Time for me to make the billionth iteration of this run.

So I realized that in all my time tasing I never actually tried to improve any runs other than my own. So I decided to do a quick Knuckles ring attack in the first half of AIZ1 in an attempt to beat Evil's time. I managed to save (give or take) 31 frames over his run. I'm probably gonna redo it if I want to make a full run of AIZ. I think I lost time in some spots as well. Link to video

Yeah that'd be nice. Everytime I try to merge the video it becomes something that can't be watched which by extension can't be processed by youtube. Take your time with it though. I can't wait to see what your FBZ1 is like anyways.

Youtube couldn't process the video so I removed it. I don't want to stress out my internet anymore trying to upload it again only to find out it failed again so I'm going to put the video on hold until I can figure out how to encode something that long. Yeah out of all the testruns I've made this is my favorite. I'm really amazed by how it turned out.

What the? I'm not sure what happened with the link. I must've deleted part of it by accident. Normally I don't use the userfiles or dehacked because neither of them has a place to put your savestate in and I like to put the gmv and savestate in one place for convenience sake. Oh well I'll take your advice and upload them separately anyways. gmv savestate

Well after about a month and over 50k effing rerecords (to be honest I'm not sure why the rerecord count is this high) my Sonic and Tails Lava Reef ring attack testrun is finally finished. This zone wasn't too difficult to tas but optimizing it took ages. I'll provide an encode later. I'm having issues with it right now due to the gmv's length.

Wow. I thought the one I'm gonna do in LRZ2 was difficult but this one takes the cake. Good job.

Yeah it was. The run looks way better than it originally was too. Your FBZ1 is amazing. My favorite part is that unexpected stair clip you did at 0:46. How long did take you to do that? Something that well coordinated must've been extremely difficult to pull off. Just one thing. What's with the small jump at frame 209562? EDIT: Nevermind I see why you did it.

It really is. It allows you to plan out the movement in your run better. That's kinda why I made these testruns. It gives Evil a reference and allows me to improve my tasing skills. EDIT: Well I got to the point where I stopped in the old run. I saved 12-13 seconds so it was definitely worth it to redo Act 2.

Yeah I decided to redo Act 2 and I'm glad I did. I'm not even a minute in and I already saved about 4 seconds. Unfortunately a good chunk of that might get eaten up by a moving tank :( EDIT: Nevermind problem solved. I clipped through the tank.

Alright I Sent you a pm Evil. Maybe you can give me some advice on this. Maybe I'll send one to WST as well.

I finished Act 1 in my lava reef testrun. It was kinda difficult to optimize but I'm happy with how it turned it out. As for Act 2. I have a full route planned and tased 1:50 of the level. So far I'm having an easier time with it than Act 1. In fact that's my main concern. I feel like I went through it a bit too fast. It's not that it looks sloppy. It's just that I feel like it could've been done much better. I'm honestly not sure what to do. I kinda don't want to spoil the testrun until it's done but I'm considering pming it to some of you guys to take a look. What do you think I should do?

Yeah the Sonic 2 tas could use an update and you are doing an amazing job at that Zurggriff. I'm sure you'll find improvements in the other levels.

I'm not sure if it would be viable in a tas. The only thing we'd have to take into consideration is the reset. Even if we did allow it we can't record a reset in a movie file. This can also be done in ice cap with Sonic and Tails without debug. Although it's a lot slower than beating the whole zone normally in pretty much any category.

Yeah I know Aglar is godlike in tasing. If I tried to match his level of optimization I'd get burnt out as fast as Sonic can run. As long as the movement isn't sloppy and I get all the simple (not necessarily easy) time saves I'm a-okay with my runs. Oh yeah I should really note this before I forget again (I meant to say this months ago lol). I found a 1 frame improvement in Sandopolis 1 in the any% run. Have Tails hit the miniboss from the ceiling like I did in my testrun.

Looks sloppy, you can check marzo and aglar TAS for feedback is very useful.
Yeah I checked the sonic 100% run (any% had no stair climbing). It appears that those stairs aren't the only thing I need to improve. Oh well, I wasn't very satisfied with the start anyways (I tased up to the first spindash platform). EDIT: Using the Sonic 100% run as reference I was able to improve the stair climbing by about second and still got Tails to land. I don't think I'll need help with anything else so I'll update on this when I have act 1 finished.

Yeah I figured you would all approve. I just wanted to be sure there weren't any objections to me doing it. I wouldn't want to see a glitchless ring attack either Evil. I feel the glitches are what makes ring attacks whole. Without them the run would lose most of its entertainment value and possibly drag on longer than it should. Also does this stair climb look okay? I tried to change it to where I climb more of it 3 steps at a time but I lost 20 frames and didn't get Tails to land. Link to video

@paused, You have a good point. Some of the stuff done in the run is arguably more broken. @WST, The only thing I really intend to use the level wrap for is to start from the very end of the level. The route idea for that is to backtrack through Knuckles' area and then reach the end from Sonic's area. Right now I barely know anything about what Sonic and Tails can do in act 2 so I don't even know if I'll use it. The extent of what I know is how they can traverse through Knuckles' area.
