I made a testrun of Flying Battery 2 because I felt like doing so. I think you'll be very entertained by the first minute of this for reasons you're seeing in the thumbnail. I also decided to look into making an HD encode with the tips Evil gave me and it turned out pretty good. Link to video EDIT: I forgot to upload the gmv and since I there's a power outage where I am I probably won't be able to share it anytime soon. This also means I won't be able to do anything other than talk on these forums until the power comes back on. I'm not gonna lie. I actually want to see a Tails newgame+ TAS. Tails 100% wouldn't be as interesting because he can only transform with the super emeralds.

Thanks man. To be honest I'm kinda surprised I got this good in the first place. You're welcome. The reason I did a testrun of Death Egg 2 is because of the way the majority of the level is laid out with the 2 split paths. Also thanks for your tips on recording. I'll definitely try them out.

So to give you people a bit of context. There are 2 methods we can use to enter Knuckles' start in Launch Base 2 which I'll describe briefly. Both of these require you to reset the level boundary. 1) Use the level wrap setup. Instead of initiating the level wrap you go down to an opening in the wall that leads into Knuckles' area. 2) A method shown in one of Orkal's videos that involves you manipulating pathswappers. I already did the first method in my testrun so I only had to test the second. Which one is faster is dependent on what is done up until that point. With my route it ended up being pretty even so I can't say for sure which one will end up being faster. On another note a did a testrun of Death Egg 2. This is the first gmv I ever encoded with the emulator so I hope there isn't any issues with the video. EDIT: Well that was a bad idea. The video quality was terrible so I replaced the encode with a bandicam recording. Link to video http://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=1400961 There's the gmv. For some reason Dehacked had issues with uploading the gmv so I had to use that website instead.

Probably not. Plus I think that tas should be completely redone if the new special stage strats are implemented to it because it's so outdated.

Very nice improvements. Saved over 24 seconds from the special stages alone which is kinda insane. It's a definite yes from me.

That is interesting Chrezm. If someone can find a way to spawn and defeat the launch base act 2 boss (btw the only thing beating the act 1 boss would do is trigger an act 1 to act 2 transition) it could make for a cool skip. In about a week I'll be able to access the game again. When I do I'm going to test to see which strat for entering Knuckles' starting area in Launch Base 2 will be the fastest because I'm not really sure.

Oh my gawd this is the most epic tas I've ever seen in existence! I totally loved the part where you waited at the title screen for no reason. It got me hyped for the insanity that was about to unfold. The run itself was absolutely beautiful. I don't care if you didn't beat WR. I think this run deserves a star anyway.

Well Marzo has been somewhat active on these forums lately. I'm sure he'll respond here soon. You'll just have to wait. As for your slope glitch problem. I would try to find a more consistent setup for it myself but I can't play the game at all right now. Have you observed what you do in Sonic/Tails runs vs Knuckles runs on your way to the platform? I think that may have something to do with slope glitch being more inconsistent for Knuckles.

Now that I think about it those inconsistent score tallies was the only thing that's truly caused us problems. Other than that the game has actually been pretty generous with letting the run sync. Evil you may not have to do anything with CNZ or ICZ at all. Beating MGZ2 on a specific frame might get both of those zones to sync all the way through.

So you're saying that CNZ1 will sync if we keep everything exactly the same. The act transitions in general are strange. Even with no diffrences in score or lag we had to delay the inputs in both HCZ2 and MGZ2 by a frame. Is there some kind of frame rule to those?

I was wondering why you kept inching towards the right in that tas. Good luck with the new run. I rewatched the both CNZ acts. We might be able to work with the balloons in act 1 unless we get extremely unlucky, but the ones in act 2 will more than likely cause desyncs if they aren't in the same position. I suppose we'll worry about this when we finish MGZ2.

Yeah there must be some inconsistencies with the act 1 to act 2 transition because something similar happened with hydrocity that required me to delay the inputs by a frame. Honestly redoing MGZ2 probably is easiest way you can finish it. I'm gonna rewatch your CNZ runs to observe the balloons. There's a chance that we may be able to work with the rng we get and resync a good chunk of the zone.

I think the reason MGZ2 desynced is because you had to delay your inputs by a frame. You may be able to get it to sync again if you compensate by saving a frame somewhere in act 1. EDIT: I just realized that this may be difficult to pull off due to the precise starting positions required to get act 2 to sync. This is something you could try nonetheless. Also let's hope that we won't have to make the rng manipulation too noticeable.

Good idea. And I'll... just relax for the rest summer I guess. I'm out of country so I don't have a computer to play any Sonic games in. Plus this tas was starting to wear me out too. Once I can access the game again I might consider doing a testrun of another level (which will likely be Death Egg 2).

It's fine. I know how exhausting making this tas is. If anything I'm surprised that you didn't decide to take a vacation sooner. Take all the time you need. I'm also taking a break. Due to some events I won't be able to access the game until the end of summer which means the only thing I'll be able to do is talk here.

I think you may have misinterpreted my text. The level desynced here. I may be able to continue resyncing the level after all. I was able to get Tails to sync with one of my edits. This means that I might be able to make Sonic sync using a Tails carry. I noticed that my progress with this has been slow because I've been a bit preoccupied with other stuff lately. I don't know if I'll be able to finish MGZ2 in a reasonable amount of time. If this keeps up I may just stop altogether.
