So are you working on an improved movie already?

I am not sure about the weird glitch in The Smurfs. It might be some object count limit (the dropped presents weren't removed from the game). This might affect other games.

Here's something else: If I let the VBA21 window open (doesn't matter if a game is running or not) and do something else for an hour or two, then decide to load a game or continue emulating, emulation speed is as if fastforwarded. I can't slow it down. I don't know if it happens with VBA23 or 24.
Perhaps you activated Options->Speed->Turbo Mode by mistake.

IMO the difference between "this movie is entertaining" and "this movie should be published" must be addressed more carefully when voting. It's pointless to TAS a fighting game unless you can do something that really needs tool-assistance to be done.
I agree and add that it's almost the same issue as that with TASing an autoscrolling shoot-them-up game.

Instead of using annoyingly automatically animated pictures, what about implementing a slide show feature?

GB Pokémon games tend to desync with almost every different emulator version. I don't know why, but that seems very true. There should be a note on this.

I think the bigger problem with this submission is that this game is so unpopular that no one else has ever commented on it at all. If this game had been TASed and submitted in the early days when SMS/GG was first made a TASable platform, it could have had greater chance. Anyhow, I realize that this quick cancellation can be frustrating to you. I wish you better luck next time.

Try these: * change "Options->Video->Render Method" settings by checking (ticking) on "Direct3D" or "OpenGL" * check "Options->Preferences->Process Priority->Above Normal" * check "Options->Pixel Filter->Interframe Blending->None" EDIT: I figured out what caused the problem. A fix is upcoming.

Weird... have you tried the way to rename the config file?

Here's another emulation glitch in GB The Smurfs. Go to the Boss after Act 9, stand near the ledge on the right. Press 'down' a few times to grab and let go of some present boxes, until you can't grab any more presents. As a side-effect, the dragon's head will be gone. I haven't checked it just now, but on the real console you can't run out of present boxes nor does the dragon's head vanish, as far as I know.
Which version?

The Rewind feature is to automatically make save states now and then coresponding to the settings so that the user can "go back in timeline" by loading earlier auto-saves made with it via the command "File->Rewind". However, as the size of the movie grows up, it will take longer and longer times to make the save states (because the whole movie will be stored inside the save state file), and eventually slows down the emulation speed. You may examine this by looking at "File->Rewind": if the menu text is grayed, the feature is not in work; otherwise it is. If this is the case (or you may just skip the previous step), you may click on "File->Rewind Settings..." and type 0 in either or both edit boxes in the dialog to disable Rewind, and see if VBA will run any faster. If this is still unclear to you, there is a quick way to see if this is caused by the settings: rename or backup & remove the config file ("vba.ini") in your VBA directory before starting VBA.

Were you using the Rewind feature? But first of all, which version of VBA were you using?

Only 3022 rerecords? Sorry, but my old testrun WIP was just faster. EDIT: I couldn't recover the last testrun that had been at level 3 before my HDD data corruption. The run posted above was an older one at merely level 2. My vote: Strong No due to various known improvements.

You agian forgot to specially thank me for...uh, maybe noting that it might be worth examing whether it could be faster if you should use charged shots in any boss fight. That was quite a long time ago, though.

Could you please make Hourglass working with http://headsoft.com.au/index.php?category=vjoy (basically KeyToJoy) so that games requiring a gamepad/joystick could be TASible?

You mean when the game is running normally, or when it's running in Hourglass, or both?
Only outside Hourglass. Hourglass actually makes them playable (they still lag at times, but no more freezingly). I wonder if this can be explained with that they suffer from some timing bugs with WinXP SP3 +certain soundcard drivers on computers faster than the games were originally designed for, while Hourglass limits the frequency of timer queries and simulates their old runtime environment.

Have you experienced any lagging problem with this game?
