I got an old WIP of my new run from ljffdb2. It only reached where the first death glitch was used. I am wondering if I should continue from it or wait until I can get back my latest WIP. EDIT: I'll post it here anyway: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1016830204/cvaos-klmz-new.vbm EDIT 2: What is most worth mentioning in this WIP is the trick to produce a land-cancelled backdash on an edge corner. EDIT 3: Unfortunately, I won't be getting my latest WIP (and the tool, duh) anytime soon, so I guess I'll instead continue with this old WIP and redo half of the gameplay. XD

A WIP of Super Robin Hood! EDIT: It might be worth ducking in front of the crossbow man to avoid taking damage from his bolt.

I have been encouraging players to finish their movies of not-so-popular games, but usually made no difference in the end. Anyhow, I am looking forward to this run.

What will happen if someone not participating in the contest submit a run of the chosen game onto the workbench while the contest is going on?

I've been working on an improved run of this category for a long time, and I am sure that mine was faster than Kriole's. However I have no access to it right now since I left it on a HDD in another computer. With regards to cracking the PRNG (Pseudo-Random Number Generator): I wrote a tool in plain c++ which actually tells you when you can get certain soul/item drops, but I left it along with the wip mentioned above. Anyway, I might be able to get to them in a week or so, hence you can decide whether to continue this frame war! ;) EDIT: Oh no, I hate Lua, at least for now :(

This run doesn't seem to be optimized well, especially on the last level. Could the author please elaborate the health/weapon management on the last level? EDIT: I found something that might be a time saver: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1425599377/avoid_damage_and_do_glitch.mmv

If you release a shell right after you turn around, you'll bump into it.

Could it be yet another frame war? Cool.

I skipped 2 pause screens in the Clocktower by using the Imp to damage the Valkyrie (changing to Minotaur was used in the old run to oneshot it). Slightly different approach on the Man-Eater, I end up on the right side of him, and I manage to have 1 of the eyes take 3 hits from Lightning Doll, something I have never managed to do before (the Man-Eater triggers some extremely weird cooldowns, the 11 frame Mystelain can go from everything from 11 to 16 frames, don't ask me why).
That's the bug I kept talking about. Great that you recorded it!

This run has unfortunately fallen in the longstanding frame war of this particular game, but as the author of this run has demonstrated great TASing skills, I would be expecting more high-quality TASes from the same author. Go, gstick! For everlasting peace! And great justice!

Weren't you and Pirate_Sephiroth working on one? Your post in the allsouls submission suggested that. And I'm pretty sure that I lack the experience to pull off a glitched run. I have little to no knowledge about glitch-teleports. I'll maybe take my time to learn more about this after this run.
No, we were making two rivaling runs to compete against each other, or it was supposed to be like that. however, I doubt if either of the two runs could be finished in a predictable period, thanks to the complexity of solving the optimal route. The problem could be possibly NP-hard.

Still, I would like to see a glitched "100% souls" run better. But this is good enough to me.

I've noticed something that might save time in the 100% soul run: L and R let you page-up or page-down in the soul and weapon menus.
How come I do not know of this? One would think one would stumble upon this while playing unassisted, or even be told by someone.
Oops, I neglected that menu navigation thing, too, during watching your old WIPs. Relieved to see that be fixed this time.

I've been thinking of redoing my all-souls run. Should it still be from SRAM? If so, normal or hard? However powerful Soma becomes in the all-souls run, the differences between normal and hard are negligible at best. The only bigger difference is that the enemies are sturdier. So for maximum flow, SRAM + normal difficulty would be the most optimal setting. I would love some input from others before I start the project.
If it were from SRAM in Normal Mode, I could promise you my best effort. Edit: To clarify things, the preceding statement should be interpreted as a "should not do" warning.

Jonathan's status:
STR 6 + 0.9 * Lv
CON 8 + 1.0 * Lv
INT 5 + 0.8 * Lv
MNT 3 + 0.4 * Lv
LCK 3 + 0.5 * Lv
Charotte's status:
STR = 5 + 0.7 * Lv
CON = 3 + 0.6 * Lv
INT = 8 + 1.0 * Lv
MNT = 8 * 1.2 * Lv
LCK = 3 + 0.5 * Lv
Dart's original damage (seems to be the accurate formula):
initial damage = x - 5
and
extra damage = x * 2
where x = [([INT/8] + [INT/32] + 7) * (1 + SP/200)].
Astarte has 1500HP, 0DEF, and is susceptible to slash-typed attacks (all such damage * 1.25) e.g. Dart. Go figure. Note: Lv = level, SP = skill points, [something] means to truncate something into an interger EDIT: I don't know why, but STR boosted with spells is much less effective than (about half as) that with equipments or level-ups, while INT boosted with spells is just as effective. EDIT 2: Birthday cakes? Don't we already have infinite potions thanks to that item glitch?

There is an all relics TAS that I found laying around. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Here is their VBM Maybe 100% wouldnt be so long after all.
The author of this run is ljffdb2 who has already registered here. This movie was actually intended to be an all-magic-items-lowest-exp (there's no such thing called "relic" in this game at all) demo. The goal was too arbitrary to be accepted here.

It's not impossible for us (reads: adelikat) to accept a "fixed" revision of 0.9.6 as the new mainstream here, if it could get around the reset issue with otherwise no difference in timing from the official 0.9.6 release.

I tried it now and the problem seems to be fixed. I can't spot any inaccuracies with the completion percentage when resetting the game. I have yet to see if I can continue my speedrun on this version of desmume, but I'll worry about it tomorrow. Thank you!
Please be warned that we might reject movies that refuse to sync with any mainstream revision of the emulator.

PAL SMB vs. NTSC SMB: Pros: * Slightly faster acceleration. * Faster speed per frame allowing more glitch abuses. * Everything related to subpixels is easier to manipulate. Cons: * Generally laggier. * Slower score tally. Those depend on the situation: * Different behavior of Moonwalk glitch: It allows Mario to move while still scrolling the screen (though slower). Well, if you see TASing speed-oriented runs as an emulator sport, then you should also see that there are rules of such a sport to follow.

I was accepting this because it was much more entertaining than King's Bounty before I realized that I hadn't watched it from the movie input file yet. EDIT: I am not judging this submission at the moment. EDIT2: Nothing was wrong with my original statement in spite of being confusing. Reverted.

Just a question, when you are re-fighting the bosses, what happens if you glitch through the floor without fighting the bosses? In Z1, if you skip bosses you are stuck, does the same happens in this case?
Yes, you'll be also stuck in Z2 just as in Z1.

Sorry but I can't judge this TAS with merely an encode. Note:

FCEUX 2.1.4a fails to clear certain memory pieces when it starts emulating a game. As a result, the menu selection of the last game played in Action 52 is always memorized with FCEUX, so that any precise TAS of the game will desync at the menu if any game has ever been selected once, even if you have re-opened the ROM after that. The only workaround requires re-launching the emulator.
