According to Movie Class Guidelines and Publisher Guidelines, this movie should be classified as a concept/demotration of unusual goal choice (to game over with a texture pattern).

Is this run still being worked on? Also, what is the reason for choosing the (J) rom over (US)?
For some reason, this run came to a halt in last few months. The author chose the (J) ROM for basically two reasons: 1. Major: A glitch involving Chain Rod and sometimes boxes which allows Zero to go through certain ceils and floors only works in the (J) version of the game as stated in previous forum posts and private messages. 2 Minor: The text in the (J) ROM is significantly shorter than that in other versions.

Wow, I tested this version of openMSX just now and realized that it did support rerecording! The way it recorded the replays was quite a bit unconventional, which I found kind of interesting. Under the experimental TAS mode (frame advance being used), it would be appreciated if the graphics were redrawn immediately after each reversion and the input display were updated without delay. Maybe more tests at some other time. Anyhow, good job! EDIT: Just a minute ago I realized it was the conventional way most PC gamers saved their replay files! This enables the player to record unexpected things at any time.

Yes, I TASed it. But I don't think an ED 1 run is acceptable here. I wish Aqfaq will make an ED 8 run next time.

Hey, I'm not dead yet, and I'm still working on my own NOOB run (used to be a co-authored run, but ljffdb2 quitted the two-player team at the beginning). I don't know the exact date when I can finish it, but I suppose this year. EDIT: It is going to take much longer than I expeced. I think moozooh was right with that two players making two runs of the same category of the same game would be a waste. However, I won't interfere with your plan. If you feel like put your run (not this test run) in the workbench, just do it.

An ED 8 run might be better.

Which TAS do you think manipulated luck the best in 2009?
The question is specially questionable for this category: man vs. bot? The bot won last time. Thus this time we shall balance light and darkness.

I vote for the one whose movie obsoleted my favourite TAS of all time (that received the highest entertainment rating I've ever given).

What if a character uses an elemental-strong-or-weak-against-something/ill-status-causing/energy-or-item-stealing/full-screen/high-frequency-multiple-hits/one-hit-KO attack as it does in the original TAS?

I almost forgot this thread...

Ah yes... I've played some of the other earlier ports of this game. Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you picked this one in particular? (Most of the ports would have different levels, so...) The thing is, I'm not sure how well suited for TASing the series as a whole is. There's not much that happens differently from level to level, so the interest would largely be restricted to route planning, and even then for people who know the games; watching more than a few levels for anyone else is going to get boring fast.
As I've stated in the description and you've probably seen, due to new levels and gameplay elements, this game is not merely a "port", but rather a "sequel" that shares (most of) the basical gameplay mechanisms with other Lode Runner titles. With somewhat good graphics/sounds, fast paces, glitches/exploits and many unexpected solutions that many other TASable games in this series are unrich of, this game is a quick choice. There are other "not bad" choices from this series, but they suffer from all kinds of drawbacks.

There are no codes or passwords to start at the hardest world? I assume you stopped input after the small world because an ending was triggered and it would be too repetitive/long if all worlds were included?
As I've described, the hardest worlds require beating all easy worlds beforehand to play. All worlds would take over an hour to finish which could be boring (especially for Middle World which is significantly easier than other worlds, and High World which consists of many large enemy-less/solo levels).

2) TASers, please quit trying to use new PPU. The old PPU is in there specifically for us.
What if the new PPU results in unreal bahaviors in other games, too? We'll make comparisons using Nestopia and Nintendulator as well?

I'm sorry to say that, but I decided to abandon my run. It is really sad for me, having spend so much time on this game. I contributed a lot, and I think it should be finished but...
What?! How could you do that? My life in TASing has then been ruined... for years. Never mind. I guess nearly every TASer has something that he/she/it (honoured bots!) can't fullfill by his/her/its quitting TAsing video games someday.

No offense here, but you guys lack consistency. Comparisons in fastism: 2009's: [1428] Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow (USA) "100% souls" by Kriole in 28:01.58 vs [1397] SNES Romancing SaGa (JPN v1.0) by knbnitkr in 02:14.77 (others probably wouldn't have nominated this run) 2008's: 1145 Genesis King's Bounty in 00:09.93 by gia & Aqfaq vs 1227 NES Wizardry - Proving Grounds of the Mad Overloard by TaoTao in 00:45.82 Comparisons in botism: 2009's: [1428] Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow (USA) "100% souls" by Kriole in 28:01.58 vs [1312] Genesis Shining Force (USA) by DarkKobold in 1:59:59.05 2008's: 1145 Genesis King's Bounty in 00:09.93 by gia & Aqfaq vs Some runs we forgot to (or decided not to) nominate at all because they were not made with bots

@Kriole: Wow, I cancelled my "warpless any%" 2.5 years ago, and I then made a new "glitched any%" instead. However, your recent "100% souls" woke up the evil spirit of frame war within me, and this new WIP broke the seal on it. So watch out for a new AoS run anytime! Gwahahahah! Joking aside, have you ever seen the mysterious "shortened invulnerability" glitch mentioned in my post? I can swear that I once recorded it occurring, replayed the movie to verify it, but then overwrote the only movie along with the relevant savestates by mistake.

Instead, get rid of the old INI file. Then restart VBA and see if you can reconfigure (Options/Input/Configure Controllers/Controller 1...) the input with your keyboard/joypad.

Actually, some games that do run at 60-62 fps don't run smoothly, as if they rushed out 60-62 frames within half a second and then halted until the fps were calculated.

While looking hilarious, this movie suffers from a bad script as a film. Still Yes vote for it.

I'm unsure, but it's worth trying to turn off (uncheck) the FM Chip option.
