Most Castlevania TASes just begin to carry on the same IMBA boss fight patterns from time to time as soon as they become available.

Isn't there an option to give FCEU priority over other applications?
That's the workaround (using task manager to set the priority). Still I hope the performance can be improved in future releases. EDIT: Guess I'll stick to FCEU 0.98.28. It runs much better.

Uh, my question about performance: Why does FCEUX 2.10a become even more sluggish than Dega, Snes9x, Gen, VBA etc. every time some background programs hog my out-dated CPU? I know Snes9x is an extremely optimized monster that isn't supposed to compare with, but I don't think FCEUX should run slower than most of other emulators.

With SG should be done under 15min whatsoever is the fastest way between: -Go directly to dracula and fight him for VERY long with pathetic damages -Get the holy claymore from quests glitch and trough a lot of SG, then SG to dracula and beat him quite fast The second option in real time was cleared in about 16min
Were you abusing the Overcome the Curse quest to sell infinite Blessed Rings? That seems to be the earliest (after beating Astarte) abusable quest for money. But... that doesn't seem to be under 16min in real time. Did you abuse the "copied state" glitch for that? EDIT:

You meant that you could reach Dracula without any relics? How could you get into the castle without at least Call Cube?

Well, there's an interesting list of several currently published "any%" GBA movies all abusing glitches: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=456,1093,1129,1162,1168,1198 For some reasons, I am the author of two of them ;) BTW, the ordering looks wrong. Someone may fix it.

It works for the Megaman Zero series at least.

After you hit the enemy there's a "cooldown" timer for that weapon. I dunno how many different timers can exist at the same time, but I'll try: 1 - Main weapon 2 - Bullet Soul 3 - Guardian Soul 4 - Kick (after double jump) or Slide - Dunno, maybe they use different memory addresses...
IIRC, they are using the very 4 timers. I could be wrong though. However, I am very sure that I've ever seen for once the "cooldown" timer for the main weapon get messed up with a knife and result in faster mutiple hits than designed. But I wasn't recording then. Neither can I reproduce it :(

Use frame advance then. If you find it difficult to hold so many button in the same time, use auto-hold to control one character frame by frame.

The pain is that it isn't in English. You may find FCEUX's subtitle feature helpful, though.

There are some published movies that do very few things as well, but I don't remember any of them getting a bad ending.

You don't even know how many levels are there? Ah, we are quite the same :P EDIT: So I've watched your unfinished test run. You seem to get stuck in that level, so you may want to check out some walkthroughs. However, this game may be focused on pure platforming too much and become repetitive. I didn't see many impressive things, if there's any, in your test run. It somehow reminded me of B.O.B. that was not a very successful TAS, due to poor game choice and low TAS tech. Since audience nowadays desires entertainment as well as perfection, a TAS of this game may have a hard time escaping from the TASVideos Grue, even though it's performed better than your test run was. So you may consider another game that is more interesting, or doing something really impressive (and be more precise, of course) in this TAS, if you really want to make it. EDIT 2: I know it might sound too pessimistic, but just keep in mind that it's merely my personal opinion, and I am not the judges who actually make decisions on submissions.

Why can users not have multiple, or at least choices from multiple ranks that represents their different contributions as coders, players, forum posters, moderators etc? EDIT: Oh I didn't see FractalFusion's post.

Hmmm, zhangsongcui suggested an improvement to the last but one boss fight, and it worked. Itself saves 8 frames due to "lag" reduction. While combined with more frames saved in the previous areas, it finally breaks the "frame rule" on the last boss! Now it's 34 frames faster! Everything else looks the same as before, though. I'll search for more improvement before re-submission.

I don't know about NSV files at all, but I think you can make two (or more) similar and short movie files, one with turbo and one without turbo, for comparation.

A case reported before: if the newlines in your setting file are not CR+LF, just replace them with CR+LF.
It works! Thanks a lot! So this problem is caused by VBAWatch itself rather than VBA? Hmmm. I should have asked you earlier, so that I wouldn't have been switching between the old and new versions all the time X( EDIT: Hmm. It seems that it's VBA's fault to copy setting strings that are ended with LF newlines. I guess they should be converted before copied for use with VBAWatch/VBxWatch. EDIT 2: Is it supposed that you cannot record GBx movies from Reset/SRAM? EDIT 3: Alright, I found this:

So you just made From Reset not an option anymore? That seems kinda mean. Oh wait, it only seems to be disabled for the old Game Boys. Game Boy Advance still has the option. What's up with that?
I couldn't get from-SRAM recording to work at all for GB games, so I disabled it until I can figure it out. There is still from-snapshot and from-power-on for them, at least.
EDIT 4: Done on SVN rev85.

That's really weird. Some people can get VBAWatch to work, while some others can't. Mine fails with these settings (copied using the very menu command):
:target:VBA21.exe:72A044:72A050:72A04C:72A064:72A054:72A058:72A060:72A048
The filename of the executable doesn't seem to matter.
