Player 1 has rocket + horizontal fire upgrade Player 2 has rocket upgrade only This would allow you to take out enemies fast without lag-inducing explosions, and would make boss fights 2, 3, 4, and 6 faster.
If you do so, the difficulty level will be set to 2 (the highest is 3), which will cause the first boss fight to be ~2 seconds slower because the 4th boss tank will come out ~2 seconds slower. However, since less enemies wil be spawned, lags can be less. (Hard to say that, since there is always one more jeep on screen, unless you abuse deaths and continues.) Boss fight 3 won't be over 0.8 seconds faster as you have to wait for the last "eye" to open to destroy it. In my movie, I had destroyed all the other "eyes" before the last one opened.

This game isn't a port. It has new levels (96 in total), enemy (Buried Guy) and objects (rocks), and its gameplay is a little different (a portal must be taken to complete a level). It has better graphics and music than most of other console 2D versions except the SNES version which was just a remake of the Lode Runner for NES. IIRC, there is a Buried Guy hidden in a certain brick block every level. He carries a bonus teddy bear and to get it you have to trap him in a hole. He won't reborn if you kill him in the current level. Otherwise he is just a different-looking baddy as the others. You don't either need to reveal, trap or kill him, or get his teddy bear to complete the level. Rocks are acting like plain boxes in other games. They can be pushed, used as platforms and baddy crushers, or buried to vanish permanently. Baddies cannot move Rocks. I've made a short test run using the (J) ROM since no (U) or (E) ROMs are available. I completed 3 levels in Small World, getting all teddy bears dropped by the hidden Buried Guy. I'm not sure if collecting them is a good idea since in some levels collecting them takes considerable time. EDIT: About the Buried Guy and Rock objects. EDIT 2: Level 3 redone using a better solution. However... Here's a run with 3 levels done without collecting any teddy bears. I'm tending not to collect teddy bears now since I found the Buried Guy can be spawned in one of two places in most levels, and you see how dealing with him prolongs the run....

Yes vote. I like the sound of bolts when you were glitching through walls. It's a pity that most of the time you just used dash to travel inside walls.

There are two types of POWs. Regular ones are just for you to send to the helicopter for some scores, while flashing ones can uprade your grenade/rocket weapon up to 4-way when you pick up them, as well as add some scores and upgrade your weapon again when you send them aboard the helicopter.

Julius has only several ways to get warped. It's very difficult to find a way to warp him into the Chaotic Realm. @pirate_sephiroth: Are you still working on your "100% souls" run?

I think it still lagged even if kill the mummy by holywater glitch, because holywater itself made the game lag, not killing enemy.
But you would have got rid of the mummy after the extra lags, and no lags caused by it afterwards.

I did have explained how in the comments on the glitch demo. EDIT: Well, I quote it:

I've redownloaded it and the crash has gone, but the "Base Directory Override" fails to work now.

Hmmm, it makes me wonder why you didn't kill the mummy in the grave yard using the "killer holywater" glitch to reduce some lags.

FCEU 0.98.28 still crashes if you watch any memory values before any ROM is opened....

Yeah my "alternative route", the stair-walk-off glitch and "tornado jump" etc all work so great! (Pride +1000!) Yes vote of course.

I haven't seen this before. So I guess I am the first one to discover it. Here's the demo for Castlevania 2. This glitch also works in Castlevania 3. Note that you can only perform this by scrolling about the right border of the room. Otherwise it won't work. EDIT: It's less useful in Castlevania 2 than in Castlevania 3, since all floors in Castlevania 2 are just too broad and you can never walk through them. In Castlevania 3, you can use this and the old Trevor-Grant-downstairs glitch to explore many glitched areas.

Although I am not very interested in speedwalks, this 4-3 brain-teaser however attractes me. Is there any way to warp from the left side of screen to the right side without using ivy? (A silly question?)

Yeah. Only Erinys and Final Guard can be improved. I managed to get Ronginus's Spear faster, but than I never succeeded in getting Final Sword not slower than I did in this movie. So I think this is OK. I am still trying, though.

I think translated versions are OK. Just treat them as hacks and throw the movies of them into the Concept demos/Other section.

I think I found a bug with all FCEU versions triggered by Action 52... Try to: 1) Open Action 52 with FCEU. 2) Close the ROM and open a game using Mapper 2, or just open the game without closing Action 52. The game seems to run as usual but.... 3) Reset the game, and the game will freeze. I know that Action 52 isn't supported yet, but why doesn't FCEU clean itself up before opening another game? This sounds like that once you have plugged "Action 52 the worst game ever" into your NES, you can never reset any Mapper 2 games otherwise the console will freeze! The bug has been there for long and hasn't caused many problems in the history, but you can see that something evil may lurk among the core codes, and it may contribute to some hard-to-catch bugs in the future.

@mz: It's solved with your test version! Thanks a lot. Hmmm, now I am wondering whether the sync hack is correct. Does the test version with the hack work the same way as the real NES does?

I found a Super C movie desynced with FCEU 0.98.26, which used to sync with FCEU 0.98.25. Extra enemy spawned and they caused desync. The published Super C movie on this site syncs. But it is possible that it stays in sync just by coincidence. I suspect it is the "Record from Power-on/Reset with a Savestate" bug or something similar that causes such a problem. Now I have some questions: What are "Record from Power-on" and "Record from Reset" supposed to do? And what do they actually do now? Does JXQ's FCMFix fix them? These questions may be unrelated to the desync problem here, but I am so curious.

In fact, I spent much more times on route-planning than movie-TASing. The route was determined by these steps: * The only way I know to win the Best Ending is to beat Chaos. So I just beat it. * The fastest ways I know to warp to Chaos all require using Giant Bat Soul in the Chapel, which is guarded by Balore. Also, the journey from the Arena to the Chapel is long. So I ignored it. * Using death warps is faster than using any other methods else, and even usually faster than travelling. So I abused them. * Saving the game once is required to use Sleep Mode. So I savd the game once. * HP-ups are required to perform the glitch. So I got them. * To get past the last room with Shadow Knight and the watered room with Bone Pillars, simply using death warps to skip them is faster than getting the required souls to get past them. So I just skipped them. * To skip the watered room metioned above, death warp can only be performed in the three ruin rooms attached to the shaft with Lubicants in it. So I warped from the castle to the nearest room to them. * The fastest way to warp to the nearest room from game starting point to Chaotic Realm is to use death warp right before Creaking Skull. So I took this way. * Using better weapons greatly out-performs leveling up. So I didn't bother leveling up unless I had to. * Final Sword is the best weapon for TASing tough enemy. So I just got it. * Lubicant Soul can almost twice your STR that contributes to ATK at the cost that HP has to be decreased, which is necessary to use death warps. So I got it. * After calculating the frames required to beat Chaos, Great Armor Soul is nearly useless compared to the cost to get it. So I skipped it. * Red Minotaur Soul requires at least level 15 to use it, and it can only be used once before the fight ends if no MP-ups are available. So I skipped it. EDIT: I PM'ed Bisqwit to ask him to update my movie to this 7 frames faster one but it seems that he hasn't read the message.
