If a 1-player movie is faster than a 2-player movie, then a 2-player movie should be made that uses whatever tricks have been discovered, if at all possible. If that's not possible due to the nature of the trick, then the different movies become separate tiers. The exception to that is if the 2-player movie was done with exceptionally poor optimization, in which case it would be obsoleted.
So what if the trick is just avoiding lags caused by 2 players? I've found several games very likely to lag when there are two players.

Probably not, because it's not that much different and it just makes the run longer. Also, you have to revisit some places and that's just bleh in a TAS.
Oh I think I failed to express myself clearly. I mean "will a good-ending run with all unique treasures (those will never respawn once you have collected them) collected be accepted?"

I have been thinking about this for long. 2-player movies are usually faster due to faster boss fight, while they often suffer from lags. However, they usually show some cooperative moves that is impossible in 1-player movies, so they are likely more acceptable than 1-player ones. According to the history of this site, it seems that 2-player movies are always considered superior to 1-player movies. Once a 2-player movie is submitted, it will always obsolete the old 1-player one if it doesn't suck. It's usually OK because the 2-player one is faster and it shows what the old 1-player one shows as well. Additionally, it seems to just prevent any new 1-player movies on this game to be accepted, since they are considered in the same category and inferior to 2-player ones. Well, this time I just want to ask, if a 1-player movie is done faster than a 2-player movie that is published, will it be accepted? And even obsolete the 2-player one or just be sorted in a new category?

I've expected something great in the new year, and here it is. Yes vote and happy new year! SPECIAL THANKS: To Phil, for explaining why Bowser can be killed with less fireballs than that designed.

I don't think I'll TAS any more SMB1 or SMB2j movies in weeks because I'm tired of getting Mario to jump into walls to earn just a few frames. However, I'd like to know what happened with Bowser. :)

Someone told me that my name is spelled as "kmlz" in the encoded movie. I haven't downloaded it because I have problems with torrent. However I wonder if this is true.

So do I. :(

I don't know what to say. So I just hold my vote. However, this movie is quite interesting.

Yes vote. Level 8-2 and 8-3 are improved amazingly. Luigi's runs are more flexible than Mario's. I wonder if Mario could catch up with his brother this time.

This thread just reminds me of the Super Metroid thread for some reasons. If I'd wanted to TAS all SMB1, SMB1 FDS and SMB2j runs, I wouldn't have submitted my SMB1 movie by now. I don't own the glitch, and I did have discussed with Phil. So back to discuss please.

This movie beat the previous one by only one second. Are you saying that that's all the time this new glitch has managed to shave off? I'd say this run would be slower one without the glitch.
Without this glitch, this run would be exactly as long as the previous one.

Any working theory on the trick? Such as "if you grab the flagpole beneath its bottom (by entering the block it is standing on), the game will skip the flag lowering animation, giving a faster completion time"?
Add "you have to grab the pole during a small jump, but not to jump too high or too low" to it. Better than nothing, at least. EDIT: I agree with Phil.

This trick is the same to do with big Mario. And this page needs to be updated.

Well, I am currently working on SMB1 warpless, SMB1 FDS and those SMB2j runs as mentionned in my homepage 30 minutes after this get submitted. But if someone is already working on some runs, I would like to be informed so I and he won't lose free time for nothing. Also, Bionic Commado project is paused for that, don't worry, I'll continue working on it after those runs get done.
How did I forget that! I shouldn't have sumitted this until I had TASed ALL the other possible runs...just kidding. Well, seriously, I had been working on SMB2j warped run for 4 days before I decided to TAS SMB warped run first. What is that bad is that I think that it is that this new trick that the only thing that will make that new movie look that different from that old one. EDIT: I like "that".

Great find! I was entertained. Very yes vote. BTW, is this an 84 frame improvement, (17996-17912) as stated in the NES forum topic, or a 62 (17974-17912) frame improvement, due to Pom ending input at the frame of the axe hit? Just from my preference I like the "earliest time input can be ended and still complete the game" option, but I know some people like to keep prior timing from previous runs for continuity.
I also ended this movie at the frame of the axe hit. So it's a true 84 frame improvement. @moozooh and Phil: I think it's impossible to jump through stairs in this game....

I have already TASed a 84f (1.4s) faster run than the published movie just using one new trick I found a few days ago. Will it be accepted if I submit it?

Yes vote. Allthough it is very similiar to your published movie, it is faster anyway. EDIT: I found that the movie I had watched right before I posted this was the very OLD movie. This movie is NEW. I'm sorry for my mistake.

Blame Yrr for disappearing from the site. His run was a pretty grand improvement (though not perfect), and he only had a few minutes left on it.
I think he is quite busy now and can't afford such time to manipulate luck in AoS.
