Many SMS roms labeled as [U] or [E] are actually [UE].

I don't think your problem is newly introduced because I've met the same (or just similar, or related?) problem before.

I've redone the final stage and had Bisqwit updated the submission. No frames gained or lost. It's strange that I can't find the perfect frame to start dancing in STAGE 5-2. You can compare the updated run with this one shifted by one frame to see which one you like more.

My only complaint is that, after the first boss, the autoscroller is a huge letdown with no dancing whatsoever. But damn. This movie should be published on the merits of the first boss alone.
Thank you for your comments. I'll consider that.

Have you ever tried utilizing the invincibility given by the super-star things that enemy drop randomly when they are killed on bosses? I found at least you can kill the giant bat boss with this by touching it.

ROFL. Look at this and you'll know why. EDIT:

I vote for Gold Millia in Guilty Gear X2 Reload ( PS2/XBOX/PC). I think her dash/dash-leap speed is over 30px/f, but I could be wrong since I've never done a precise test. Edit 1:Gold Johny could be faster when dashing forward. Edit 2: The PC version allows you to reduce the frame rate by half to 30 fps, which will double the px/f. This is PC-only, however.

I just helped him jump over missiles.... TASing GB games is a little trickier than TASing GBA games, mainly due to the laggy 30Hz in-game frame-rate. I hate this, really.

Try to cheat-search for his position instead. It's much easier since you just need to check "Equal", "Greater than" or "Less than" and you don't need to know what the exact difference is. The address of the speed must be, I guess, around it, and watching the memory you can do a few moves to distinguish it.

I tried to record a movie of AoS bossrush, so I checked "From reset (SRAM)" and left other settings unchanged for recording. I've managed to press the START button as early as I could to enter BR mode as fast as possible before I replayed it. However, when I replayed the movie I found the fade-out after the "Licensed by Nintendo" was a little longer than that when I recorded the movie, which resulted in totally desync. What's more, a few months later one of my friends sent me a run for AoS (J), and I found it just desynced in the beginning dialog. The movie was recorded from snapshot right after reset. Strangely, she said that she had no problems with watching the movie. I'm sure that I've watched them with the right roms and I've tried to replay them with VBAR v17, v19.2 and v20 on two computers. But none worked correctly. It seems that this problem will occur if a movie is recorded from reset or snapshot right after reset. I haven't tested other games. So I have no idea if it is a game-specified bug.

Then you'll be surprised with the Ninja Gaiden Shadow for GB. I've watched its v19 movie(s) on a v20 emulator without any problems.

Definitely a large technical improvement over the original movie. Two players seem to do the bosses much faster.
And sometimes two players save time when one needs to wait while the other keeps moving on.

Well optimized run. I just wonder why not avoid some damages when you were on the falling platform. But I don't think it matter much. Yes vote.

About the complete run: A friend of mine sent it to me and I had to promised him to keep it private in exchange.... Well, I'll ask him whether he will change mind.

Now again. Are you still working on this now? I've watched a complete run on this game before. Your WIP seems faster than that one, but you just used up your "magic fire wheels" or something in the first level, which could make it harder to deal with the enemy around in the next level.

I think if you "acquire" the password at a point when a non-tool-assisted player is able to acquire the same password even though it is the first time he has played the game (so he can't "remember" the password), it is okay. I've made a demo of using password given by the game, Young Merlin, to (re)start playing from a certain point. You will see how great this trick is since all the glitch-skipped items are automaticly acquired in several frames. It's said that this game is boring, though. Edit: Text formated.

I know using password to start a game from a certain level (that is, I mean, to skip the earlier levels) is usually a bad idea for making speedruns. But in some games, there can be an item displaying the password for the current level in the pause menu, which can be cursor-selected and used to restart the current level. To do this you don't need to input the password by yourself. All you need is to move the cursor onto the password and then press the decision button. So can I say that doing this is not password/secret-code cheating but actually utilizing a "Try Again" option? Edit: Clarified. Edit: A better subject.
