I would recommend that you complete the majority of optional game content as well. For example, in VI you can skip almost 1/3 of the game in the WoR if you want, but that's no fun.

Interesting there is no mention of nuking the hampster. I would have thought that would have had some backlash on the development team at some point.

Any updates on this mmbossman? I take it you were going to do level 4 next to get the backpack before fighting the mantis in level 5?

Update. I did some searching and found some useful info. Euclid (one of the hack creators) did a 100% walkthrough. You can get it here for those interested. (Thanks to Tompa for posting) Also, Seph (the other hack creator) has started work to improve the hack. He's asking for feedback and posting progress at http://seeeeph.wordpress.com/. This is good news! Another step closer to getting a TAS of this awesome hack.

Finally got around to watching Tompa's test run of this hack. I must say I was quite impressed with the hack as a whole. Like most hacks, I enjoy watching playthroughs much more than trying to play it myself. This one is likewise way too hard for me. I'd love to watch any other complete wips that might have been made by anyone. Anyone ever make a complete walkthrough wip?

During the first 2 quarters I started getting ideas of possible funny things that could be done. Low and behold, most of them occurred during the last 2 quarters. An excellent job with such a quirky game.

Am I correct in thinking that Level 4 should take less time than Level 5? I seem to remember lots of long (pointless) corridors in the Catacombs. Also, if I remember right, Level 5 is the first place you can get a mini-gun right (or maybe I remember there being one in Level 2 behind a grenade wall)? But that's probably of no use for a TAS. I guess I can't think of any advantage to doing 5 before 4.

Dear Bisqwit, Do you think Finland should be in NATO? Why or why not?

Well, seeing as it was just a teaser, there wasn't that much to watch and critique.

I'm feeling nice today so, Meeper's .M64 Meeper's .avi comicalflop's .M64 It's probably worthwhile to read this entire thread too. There are many links to existing world-records which reveal many ways to get more hits. Cheers.

Would a 100% run include hitting pink puffs? That might be entertaining in a normal run if they could be manipulated.

Just to add my 2 cents, I recently played MP for the first time. It pretty much annoyed the crap out of me. When I critiqued it on a nintendo fan site (a bad idea to begin with), I pretty much got my head ripped off. You'd think I'd called all their mothers dirty names or something. Anyway, props to JXQ for making me laugh with his MP sucks page. From what I've read of the MP 3 control scheme, it seems to be a great improvement, but still a bit "jittery" even on the ultra-sensitive setting.

Yes. Atma made somewhat of a reference to it in the first post here.

A good improvement for the first chapter. I would think there are more sizable chunks to be gained later. Hopefully the tools will help to get over the more troublesome spots better than last time (the first fight in chapter 2 comes to mind). Nice work Adelikat.

Apparently the answer is crooked cart.

I thought I would put this in off topic since it's not so related to TASing. Apparently some folks over at The Hylia have found a way to load the Arwing hidden in Ocarina of Time without using a gameshark. It somehow can be done by doing something to an ice trap treasure chest. The finder (cen) isn't revealing how to do it. But there are hints dropped in the form of assembly code and clever words. I'm sure there are plenty of assembly geniuses reading these forums so take a crack at it if interested... Link I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the beans are spilled...

Is the weapon duplication glitch in all versions of the game? I wasn't sure if it made it into the GBA version.

Watched the WIP. Everything seemed pretty well done. You did skip the next to last spirit as was mentioned by someone already. I would vote to stop in at the Inn before fighting Solvering. Both, because it will most likely save time and because there already is enough "running around" in this game so any chance to minimize running through already covered territory is a plus on the side of entertainment. In my estimation, the Solvering battle is really the "hump" to get over for this game in terms of a TAS. You'll have some decent spells by the next boss (or at least Avalanche at 24 Earth) so they won't be as tough. Whether it's easier to do some leveling on the way to Solvering is probably worth investigating. While power staffing might be a possible solution to killing, I always stuck with Avalanche for its simplicity. You don't have to buff anything or worry about things wearing off. You can stand far away, avoiding close attacks (and sometimes longer animations). Most attacks from far away are avoidable. It just works. Even with Mammon, I remember hitting him with 2-3 boulders a cast and he would go down very quickly. You might find some better battle strategies if you test some things out to see what you can find. I hope you decide to continue with this run.

I would think an any% run would be a great prerequisite to a 100%, especially since there is much to figure out the first time through. As for Spirits, I would think you'd go for Avalanche straight away and every boss battle afterwards is much easier.

I'm pretty sure it does. It's called Razer in this version. Other spells work as well, like Break (BRAK) and Kill (XXXX). I think any run of this game should really consider including the bonus dungeons. There are some really cool/weird looking floors in them. Plus, Shinryu and Omega are really the hardest bosses in the game.

Bump. I forgot about this thread and seeing as how it sort of died a quick death when it seemed Atma was going to go forward, I thought I would ask why exactly it was abandoned?

ok, the route makes perfect sense if you did indeed have to cast return. As for the magic bikini, I'm not so sure. It doesn't really contribute anything (except 8 seconds). Shoes of happiness would be great though. Also, what level did you attempt Zoma? Did he cream you because you couldn't manipulate him very well or because even with manipulation he killed you? Just curious as I may experiment some ideas.

The most recent WIP looks pretty good. I only have one major question. Why didn't you just get the yellow orb after dropping off the merchant? IIRC you had killed the boss troll, gotten the purple orb, and possessed the purple, blue, green, and silver orbs. Why not just exit and enter to avoid having to make 2 trips? Other than that, everything looked great. The Baramos fight was excellent. I thought it would be much closer than it was. Not even a single death.
