It can't be speedrun, but it CAN look really cool/flashy!
I'm almost done with the first level, so I'll post a WIP of it soon. ^^
gravity abilities..? You mean like the fireballs, the ice storms, etc?

My frame advance key and pause key are both stuck at the value (25) when I try to change it.. T_T
Does Mupen have a "reset controls to default" or anything?

I've been playing that game, and I admit it is QUITE fun. =] I may try to TAS it a little, but don't get your hopes too up. =[
In a somewhat related sidenote, my brother's name is Saki! ... creepy. o.o

Experiencing problems with frame advance.. Game is for Star Fox 64, but I highly doubt the game is the reason why its faulting. Input plugin seems okay and so does the video...
Whenever I tap my frame-advance key (R) it will advance a frame for the most part, but sometimes mupen will register a tap as "hold the button down for 30 frames or so" which makes the game play at 100%< speed which is odd.
I've never had this problem before, but I'm going to attempt a fresh reinstall of mupen and see how it works.

After much brooding over (actually, more like 5 minutes worth) I have been convinced by some people that..
<JXQ> if you have fun redoing the run then do it
<JXQ> fuck what others think
<DK64_MASTER> yeah
<meepers> rawr then its settled!
<DK64_MASTER> :D
<JXQ> some will hate it and some will love it, that's how it goes
* meepers will redo Corneria
<JXQ> *fanfare*
* DK64_MASTER blows horn
(conversation SLIGHTLY editted.. but I'm sure JXQ won't mind me twisting his words a wee bit)
That's right everyone! I'm following a "No Hit Left Behind" policy and expect to follow it religiously until this run is finished, meaning I will redo a stage if I feel it can get more hits. I also doubt anyone will ever attempt this game after me, so I want to beat this SF64 thoroughly enough that the game is indeed perfectly optimized.
With that said, Corneria should be redone in a week (or even less if I have more time!) and I will begin testing on Meteo and the usage of bombs to fully get as many hits as possible, hopefully going to back where I am at the secret gate warp with a +10~ hit lead (3 from Corneria, and 7 more from optimizing the asteroid fields). =]
Any screams of "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!?!?" or name-calling/insulting should be directed at "meepers" in the #engrish / #nesvideos channel. ^^;

Not quite sure what you're trying to ask, but Zoness can net around 450~ hits compared to Sector X's 331. Top in the fact that Aquas' record is 362 compared to Katina's 317, Sector Y is probably the choice to take if you think you can keep the gap between Meteo and Sector Y (which is only about 120 or so) relatively "small".
As for actual progress of this run, I have temporarily taken a break because I've gotten very frustrated with my playing. Meteo can be optimized so much more but I've just been really stressed out with work/school/gym/dance stuff that I haven't really had much time to work on the run. I've gotten a little bit more time now, so I will probably start again sometime soon. Meteo is currently clocked in at a +5x lead, and I hope to extend this to +100 so I can break the 600 mark.
To the questions earlier regarded on optimization, it is VERY hard to reply accurately as my run has been focused more on getting hit bonuses than actually just shooting asteroids. Since Meteo is a enemy/asteroid-dense level, I have to balance shooting things with milking bonuses out of things. This explains why I don't shoot some asteroids, as I opt for the more advantangeous ones that give me "more" hits. If I didn't do this, I'd have to use bombs and fiddle with them for a long time, which is fine I suppose but I'll run out of bombs very fast and this may pose as a problem later on in the warp area and in the following map Katina. Also, the asteroids DO move around so what may have been a +3 hit bonus may just be a +1 bonus later, so I must utilize braking/boosting (I highly doubt boosting will work as I want as MUCH time as possible on every single asteroid/enemy) which is yet another manifestation of kill everything vs go for "more". =/
In any case, I'm actually working on an essay at the moment so I will cut this post short. If you have any feedback, questions, or anything that concerns me or this run, you can contact me on IRC #nesvideos or #engrish on the freenode server. =]

Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay =]
As mentioned above from the fellow posters, the best way is to just try it out. That's what I did with my project, and it's been redone 4 times (each redo makes me better!)
So just play a lot, upload WIPs, and correct your mistakes. Pretty soon, you'll be pro la :P

Maximus, I'd suggest finding a few people you can talk to often (on IRC preferably, as we're all on there for the most part and communication is much easier that way) that can help you with your endeavours.

Semicolons are usually used to join two sentences that "share" a relationship. For example: I'm bad at history and english; I like foreign languages.
I know Cantonese fairly well... at least, it's enough to hold a conversation anyhow. I don't think Chinese is actually that hard since its incredibly specific and context-wise, so you could just ramble off nouns and a verb or two and they'll probably understand. As for Japanese, it's not terribly hard if you try not to relate it to a germanic language. Double particles and particle usage (and grammar) is the death of me, but I can understand it alright if someone could conjugate it properly.
I think by far, the languages which requires feminine/masculine noun and verb form conjugates are the most difficult IF there has been no prior training/education. For me, I've learned English, Chinese, and Japanese (portuguese not so much) and they all don't have gender forms. =/

Alright guys, I promised the worlds would be done faster this time (at least.. compared to Corneria anyhow) so here is the checkpoint of Meteo! I'm comparing my run to the 508 run hosted on the superplayers.de site, and am currently holding a +40 lead vs the expert run. The part at the checkpoint isn't actually optimized, so my lead is mostly liked to extend back to a +42 or so lead.
Some things to keep in mind is that Meteo is insanely hard. There's way too much stuff to shoot, and I miss about 3 asteroids in the opening 5 seconds because there's too much to shoot at. The expert run has a few more enemies, otherwise I'd be having a +53 lead or so, but oh well. I'm expecting to break 600 easy, but 620 is probably going to be the upper limit.
Input, comments, and feedback is always welcome!
PS: I didn't want to make the viewer bored, so I put in some seizure-causing moments. ^^
Edit: Oh, forgot one more thing. Corneria's boss is redone, destroying both left (boss's right) missile bays in one go.

Hey everyone, been a while since I last posted on my progress.
Ah, I got it as if you slow down the video a little, you'll see 2 hit+2s, which indicate that the left one blew up first, and the right one died to the charge after.
Onto actual news, I had a segment for Meteo to post, but it got messed up and I'm having trouble redoing it. I've also started school and work, so progress well be a [bit] slower than usual, but Meteo shouldn't take more than 2 months.
With that said, I should ask: Do you want a WIP of the finished segment when I actually finish it, or should I just upload what I have by sunday night/monday?
Thanks everyone for the support so far, it means a lot. ^^
Edit: Yeah, I'm a girl. I guess I'm glad that girls are welcomed to TASing, although I'm not surprised since this community is predominantly male. =X

Kind of sad isn't it? The country with what seems to be the most freedom (politically speaking) also has the lowest turn-out for votes and political activeness.
