For our purposes, don't bother with setting a level. Youtube's decoder for transcode doesn't care, mainconcept makes its own determination about software vs hardware decoding, and most of the desktop players don't care. Levels are mostly for explicitly targeting embedded devices (bluray, iphone, whatevs). Long videos often times are missing higher resolution transcodes. 480p will come out, everything higher will fail. The exact cause of this is not known, but my best guess is that there's some sort of time limit on the transcode, and that 720p, 1080p, and original are all cut off because the "desktop HD mp4" module starts from original and works down. It might help to turn off tasblend and use 8x8 resize method; it might not. Edit: My longest successful originalp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBQYEB5BC5k My longest successful 720p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t460vyG8D-U But I have some faileds that are shorter, so I don't have any real solutions

I wrote it. Works with avisynth 2.6, possibly others. Converts a VFR video track with matroska v2 timecodes file into a CFR video track at the requested framerate. Includes customizable thresholds and dup/drop tracking so you can tell how good a job you did. Documentation and source code is included. Modified BSD license. http://www.mediafire.com/?a51pifo438i7hdb I've used it with grunt's ExactDedup, for which it's good for dejittering KKaptures and mupen internal captures. I've also used it with JPC dumps, Dolphin dumps (you need my a/v sync hack to get timecode files), and just plain old FFMS. The internal Dolphin dumper on sync mode uses the same dup/drop algorithm with fixed thresholds and fixed framerate (exactly 60/1 for NTSC or PAL60, exactly 50/1 for PAL50). You can be slightly more accurate with this plugin. Most people probably won't be interested in this.

I won't be publishing this (couldn't verify sync), but anyone feel free to publish with these encodes: Encodes: Archive.org collection http://archive.org/details/SuperMario64usa0StarIn502.25BySnarkKymanSonicpacker include, normal, 10bit, and a "448p 10bit" I goofed slightly: the encodes have capital letters in the names, but this can be worked around or changed I believe. youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY4QyAlt-3k 720p, on the official channel

Currently shoving a 26.4 GiB mess down youtube's throat. (I don't believe the twenty giggerbites limit!) Downloadables are done (with new video dump, a bug was fixed in psxjin svn 718), just awaiting subtitles and upload. I never actually posted a sync report, so here: Syncs on psxjin 2.0.2 svn718 Greatest hits "1.1" CDs (box with green stripe)

I can't get this to sync. Could you post checksum information for your disk image?

YES! Not sure why the +1 to samples is needed.
Cut point is probably computed with some dodgy floating point math and then incorrectly rounded.

Interesting. As far as AAC fixup goes, can you accomplish the same thing with DelayAudio () ?

It might not be exactly 4:3, but the DAR of genesis is about 4:3, and the pixels certainly aren't square.
Don't you happen to know how to fix the script to make Genesis dump 4:3 and of acceptable size?
Yes. The best way to HD Genesis is the 8x8 method, combined with instructions to youtube to stretch it to 4:3. For Geneis 320x224, that's:
PointResize (2560, 1792)
Then, in the tags section of the youtube, add:
yt:stretch=4:3
The upload will be smaller, and the "original" derive will look significantly better.

Fixed the youtube thumbnail and the primary screenshot, although it might take a bit to update. Can't really do anything about the archive.org screenshots. It's kind of hard to write a hook for a 25 second movie =/

I haven't gotten that to work, no. I don't think I'd use it even if it did; I know youtube is going to convert RGB->YUV during the transcode process, so might as well take control over that part. If you want to send youtube RGB for testing something, camstudio works.

Because of an irritating emulation bug in Famtasia, this new AVI is a joint work of of two emulators: Famtasia to create the video, and Nintendulator to create the audio
Does anyone know more about how they got the .fmv into Nintendulator? I got the video, but Fantasia is emitting a high pitch whine from 4 minutes onward which ruins the audio.
nesmock can handle the conversions. good luck finding something it syncs in, heh

This shows up in an interesting way already in multigame runs, an important part of which is making good use of when a particular game doesn't use an input.

The primary encode of http://tasvideos.org/2009M.html clocks in at ratio 16.72, and an alternate (720p) encode is ratio 26.72; this was the run that prompted this reexamination of ratios. It's our first real Wii publication (as far as graphics go), and I think I did a good job, but I am always interested in technical feedback, of course. Encodes should always try to be as small as possible while meeting high quality guidelines.

Nach, to clarify, is this obsoleting one of the current runs or being added as a new branch? Clarified through IRC, new branch
