Sorry for double post but my old FF5j and FF6j dual run is here. -> http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/105771763/obsoleted-ff5j-ff6j-dualrun.smv.gz Please use a snes9x v1.51 with old savestates file type; Otherwise, crashed. Streaming media are here. (Sorry for no input display) part1 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/1/ part2 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/2/ part3 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/3/ part4 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/4/ part5 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/5/ part6 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/6/ part7 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/7/ end credits -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/8/ This is my first tool-assisted movie. I don't know why I made this run. I didn’t know how to manipulate luck at that time, so I took SDA’s Alex and Essentia’s strategy. Sorry for using their strategy without any permission.

In FF6, whole run is very identical with erokky’s run. Improvements accomplished from erokky’s run are these: -Changing magic order to six; Effect, Attack, Heal order. -Templar battles with a Mithril Claw stolen from Vargas and a Hyper Wrist from a treasure box at the basement of South Figaro in Locke’s quest. This allows you to beat Templar with only one critical hit. -Leo vs Kefka by using Fire Rods. This idea is originally from Catastrophe, and I improved it. -Avoiding pre-emptive in some battles. Sometimes it is slower due to a message display. Especially, retaking Gau in WoR, Gau’s gauge is zero and it’s slower if you take pre-emptive. (-using the glitch only in j version can be done. i.e. equipping Moogle Charm in any characters.) And I took different strategy at some point from erokky’s run, though ideas are from people’ in FF6's thread. -I got Cyan to Zozo alone. Running in each battle was faster, but changing equipments took some time. I don’t know which is faster, Cyan or Figaro brothers. -I set the battle speed to one before the final Ultros battle. The final Ultros battle itself was faster, but at the next boss battle with Air Force, I can’t avoid MagTekLaser. So I don’t know which battle speed is faster. -Before Banquet, erokky seemed to regret resting in toilet, but it’s the fastest because the timer is stopping during black screen, I think. Known improvements are these: Money management due to surplus Fire Rods, to manipulate NPC’s movements, avoiding monster treasures like tonic, potion and x-ether. But I’m not interested in improving it, because my goal is less than four hours. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you, Bisqwit. In FF5, I had better luck manipulation and improvements from samuraigoroh’s run except for encount and the first boss, Wing Raptor battle. e.g.) skip Elven Mantle, skip healing jar when escaping Karnak, skip Ribbon, skip battle messages with the third Gilgamesh battle, etc. I sometimes took slower but funny ways. e.g.) the battle with Abductor at Solitary Island, Galuf vs Exdeath, etc. The time beating Merugene is definitely faster than samuraigoroh’s run, though I’m too lazy to calculate. I’m sorry that adjusting time after beating Merugene may be boring. EDIT: !Flee with holding on LR is the fastest way to run, though I noticed it in endgame. I’ll also post explanation about FF6 in this run in FF6’s thread. Next post is about FF6.

To tell the truth, I have experiences of TASing, though I’m Newbie. Today I’ll introduce my FF5j and FF6j dual TAS. I was very hesitate to introduce it due to language version and known improvements, but I decided to introduce it. Here is smv. -> http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/574326562/ff5j-ff6j-dualrun-v2.smv Please use a snes9x v1.43 with old savestates file type; Otherwise, crashed. Streaming medias are here. part1 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/11/ part2 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/12/ part3 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/13/ part4 -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/14/ end credits -> http://zoome.jp/neo_omniscient/diary/15/ I’ll explain about this run next post. [EDIT by moderator: To avoid needless content duplication, merged the two branches of posts into a new thread, here.]

Thank you, zidanax. I was encouraged. The most apprehensive thing is leveling up. In this game, to equip strong weapon, character’s level must be high. But leveling up itself is quite long and boring even with glitch and optimization. Composition strong weapons are also long and boring. Another apprehensive thing is boss battles. All the boss strategy is identical basically. So it may be monotonous. For audience; Here is just a short encode from v2 WIP, the second Ledesma boss battle. -> http://www.mediafire.com/?jzzmtxky2dz And here are screenshots, making a door in void. It is neither timesaver nor slower, but it’s funny, I think. Left is before and right is after.

The latest WIP is here. -> http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?llwnozyztog (FCEUX 2.1.3 or 2.1.4 or 2.1.4a with old PPU) My mediafire account is free, so if deleted, feel free to reupload. This is applied to my other files. To watch this, you will be surprised how fast it is to manipulate luck. This is faster about 700 frames by my v1 WIP or about 300 frames by my v2 WIP. I’ve done first glitch battle. Minor improvements accomplished are these: -Robo HP is no longer needed. It’s slower to get colon (money). Besides, it is necessary to remove weapons after final Oregi. Removing Denis’s equipments and selling all tools is totally 312 frames faster. -Just when the step counter gained, you cannot move with holding A-button on in dungeon. I am very careful not to do so. -When encountering, the lag is different according to monster formations. I manage to minimize it. -Using Chris’s flash is the fastest in the first glitch battle. I’m going to change the strategy in the second and third glitch battle a bit. No reply means that it is not to be submitted, doesn’t it? It’s natural. Okay, I won't submit. I’m not disappointed. Someday, I’ll finish this run, post and explain glitches and tricks I used. This might be useful for other classical RPG TAS. Route and strategy is similar with my old run basically, so I may not post any WIP. But if any request, I’ll post. Any comments will be welcome. EDIT: Corrected grammatical error and spelling in bold. I curse my bad English.

Does microstorage have something wrong now? I can’t access any old movie files. Only to get this error message, “Data error accessing video.” EDIT: This issue was fixed. Thank you.

My notation is about Mukki’s published TAS. I used Rice on mupen64-rerecording-v2-reset copied in Mupen64 v8 reset v2 folder. I don’t know whether Grunz’s TAS is synced or not with Rice, because his WIP is deleted. EDIT: Not deleted, just a microstorage error. I tried replaying Grunz’s WIP on Rice. As soon as the first day began, desync happened. Of course, Jabo syncs.

I checked old posts. As Halamantariel mentioned there, Rice 6.0.0 video plugin syncs. But loading from savestates causes desync. So it is necessary to start replay from start whenever watching movie on mupen64. I hope desync problem is solved. Another method to avoid desync is here from Bisqwit, though I haven’t tried. Thank you for your explanation about the mechanism of desyncs, Mr. Grunz. I’m looking forward to your work, all the more. EDIT: I also tried Bisqwit’s method, only to end error message, "Error creating Direc3D device!" I can replay by Halamantariel’s method, so I’m not bothered, except for the demand of replaying from first. EDT2: This notation is about Mukki’s published TAS and this topic may be out-of-date.

Nice run. I don’t know the address of manipulating NPC movements, but I predict that the RNG changes only by time where NPC exists basically, and isn’t reset through whole game like FF6. I have a question. Is it possible to manipulate an initial formation of 15puzzle? EDIT: Corrected my statement a bit.

Good job, sparky. Does anyone calculate saved frames from a published run level by level?

EDIT: Note! This statement is wrong. I seemed to misunderstand the cause of desync. :P In my experience, using fast-forward seems to cause many desyncs, so I suggest avoiding using fast-forward even in boring cutscenes. This might be applied to other long m64 files.

Hello everyone. How do you do? I’ve been working this game since last summer. This game was released only in Japan, so maybe Japanese text looks boring. After finishing it, I don’t know whether it should be submitted or not. But I’d like to complete this run. Well, is there anyone who is longing for this run, especially non-Japanese? Anyway, these are my WIPs. I made them on an old version of FCEUX, but version 2.1.3 synchs perfect. Old version causes many desyncs. And don’t forget to use old PPU. Version1: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5edmzmzxekj This is completed. Version2: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?y0oizn20gyn This is not completed. I noticed minor improvements are there, so I have to redo this run. Edit: Corrected a grammatical error in bold.

I noticed some time savers. First:If Locke steal a Mythril Claws from Vargas and get a Hyper Wrist at the basement of South Figaro in Locke’s scenario, Sabin equipping them can beat Templar only one critical hit. Second:Magic order should be changed. Third:In the battle of Leo versus Kefka, using Fire Rods is the fastest way, I think. I know in Catastrophe’s run he used Ice Rods, but Fire Rod has the fastest animation. I think that Kefka’s Tower boss is the hardest part in advance version, too. Good luck!

I’m new here, but let me point out a bit time saver. I think that if a player is upper part after beating a boss, a display change starts a bit earlier.
