huh..I've been working on Venture for Coleco for months. I'm still not satisfied with the results. Maybe I should go through it once more and see if it is ready.

Reviewing... First off...the movie syncs all the way to the end for me. Second, I have analyzed the improvements made over #4813: Weegeechan's NES Balloon Fight in 02:39.62 and the most notable differences are the control of RNG on the balloon bonus levels. In fact it is quite impressive to see just how fast the bonus levels are now completed. As for all other aspects, the normal rounds...aiqiyou edges them out (on most), but I do not have a count on level improvements (I usually like to do so with a lua script, and might later...but I have so many things I have to do in life). Because I was a follower of Rodrigo (on twitch), I was drawn into this game. Personally, I have tried it and it is rather difficult to control. So, TASing this games has been a treat to watch and this is very good work. Since the previous TAS also stops after completing Phase 12, I can understand why this also follow suit. My only concern is how the rules apply in this area for unique content. I am curious on the judge's comments on how the new rules apply to the stopping point of this game. Looking past phase 12, content is different...but I will just leave it at that and watch for judgment. Great work!

I used to watch speed runs of this game by Rodrigo, and this is a great game to see TASed. I'm also happy to see an improvement over the previous publication of 799 frames. I'll be reviewing this run, hopefully by the weekend...but looks to be a great piece of work. GG! Yes vote.

After 6 years I'm still personally in the camp of "this TAS is incomplete as this title features more than one loop". I mean at least it's faster than the attempts from 6 years ago so thank you for that, but this game does get increasingly more difficult.
I've been having this conversation with DrD2k9 and I've been saying the same thing; however, he states that the updated rules don't require it anymore...as long as there isn't any "Significant Differences". I think we need to identify what that means...if it doesn't apply to speed and increased tasks.

Reviewing.... After seeing a review of this game on Zero Page Homebrew https://youtu.be/QHD_BZ9bNwY?t=3716, I have a concern that needs addressing. Completing one repetition doesn't seem to be enough to satifiy the rules, as difficulty increases in two different ways. For one, the game repeats with increasing number of parcels to deliver. Two, the speed of the dogs also gets faster later on. Because the run needs further development, I am going to test its optimization upon an updated movie file; however, it doesn't visibly appear to have glaring issues though. I've talked with MrTASer and he is going to look into adding more rounds to this TAS. Seems that the rules define a single loop, as being accepted...as long as no new content is shown. My first thoughts were that speed and increased tasks would qualify for this...meaning that you would continue until it no longer exhibits these increases. Then that leaves the term "significantly different" referring to other things besides speed and more activity.

Reviewing... DrD2k9 has a made a really good effort in optimizing this movie. In comparing this to a human run, this movie is a lot more fun to watch..as human runs are just painful to experience. In terms of optimization...I couldn't find one frame of improvement. There is only one frame lost and it was used to alter RNG. This adjustment provided a direct route to the last room, providing the fastest time to Senta. On the way, DrD2k9 also exploits a one frame trick that saves the most time throughout this run at frame 365. This prevent the "back-tracking" for Tomarc, so that he can start his accent jump much more quickly. The only thing that I can not speak for, is how the game progresses in difficultly. This is a tough situation, where the pre-game "set-up" takes longer to configure; however, I figured the game should be played on the hardest difficulty...according to the rules *If a game's second quest is just a harder difficulty mode, it is allowed by itself. In comparing this situation, I have done two difference scenarios that have been accepted. 1. #7232: nymx's C64 Boulder Dash in 11:56.00, which was played on the hardest difficulty and satisfies the rule above 2. #6889: nymx's C64 Confuzion in 26:58.33, which was played from the very beginning and progressed until difficulty no longer increased (which completed a second loop of puzzles from 65 through 96...repeating the same puzzle from levels 33 through 64) Aside from this one point, I see that optimization is right on, routing was perfect, and the goal for beating the game was met. In addition, the inputs sync for me and is good to go.

I found it very interesting that this game (A Published Cartridge Game) had 10 rooms, where Royal Rescue (A Magazine Type-In Game) had 16.

Ok, I think this is it. The more I think about this game the more I realized the mechanics that i could exploit. I'm not sure that I can go any further with it, unless I figure out a way to gain one pixel on a specific stage. At this point, I do not know of any other movements optimizations to try. Admin or Judge, please ignore my previous post and use this new input file instead...which is 30 frames faster than the previous WIP. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/637947601735653874 Man, this game looks simple...but it can be very complicated to find frames, due to very detailed movement. Here is what I hope is the last update. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/637949813723615659

Admin or Judge. Please replace the existing submission file, with the following: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/637945731822960789 This is a 2 frame improvement, which was an effort in restoring the 7 frames lost at the completion of Stage 31. I had hoped finding more cuts would have changed, what I think is a frame rule...but no success. :( Ignore this, and see my next post below.

I think out of all the work on this site, effort like this is what excites me the most. My opinion about TASes, is that something is always there to be found. This is one of those examples. It would be hard to imagine that another frame could be found. In my experiences, the amount of work grows exponentially to optimize inputs further. I've learned, that when I see a submission from eien86, it is absolutely worth my attention. Great job!

Btw, it my be possible to improve the time by collecting more diamonds. The extra life sparkles delay end of level. Ideally you wish to get them early in the level, isntead of during the coutdown, but as long as it stops sparkling before the end, you are good. On cave B, you get sparkles during the countdown. but if you collected two more diamonds on that level, the sparkles would be before the cooldown, and if the last gem was taken far away enough from the exit, you could avoid the delay. This may or may not save time immediately, but... With the 100 extra points, there will be no more delay on cave C at all. the sparkles will stop in time, and no delay that level. Cave D would likewise trigger the sparkles before exiting, and thus save some more time there. Keeping an eye out for opportunities to manipulate the score by collecting extra diamonds to time your extra live animations may save time overall.
That is interesting. I did find that some stages don't end, when I expected them. Never noticed that though. I have been reworking this TAS, but I'm taking it super slow, since I really hate the idea of re-submitting a run over and over. So I'll give you a status on my findings...plus recognition in my next submission. :)

I kinda like the word "Rejected". It keeps me in check, as I try everything to avoid getting one. That way, you set a standard for people to follow. I didn't like it that my first submission got rejected...so I tried harder, until I finally got a submission through. scrimpeh is right..some work is just no good. We need to foster an environment that demands quality. For me...it made me very determined to never receive that type of stigma. So...keep "Rejected".

I may be the odd ball here, but I never thought I would see the day where all the sand was removed from the play field. I'm giving you a yes, only because I've had these kind of thoughts...wondering if it was possible. When I played Mr. Do!, in my youth, I used to think of the same thing with that game as well. Now that I've seen this...I'm curious if that would also be possible.

LOL The unfortunate side-effects of TASing. When I watch a human play this, it is quite slow with those noises being generated seldomly.

Anyway, the TAS itself seems neat enough. It's obvious a lot of planning and revision went into the routing, especially considering how it has gone through a second pass. It's sad there's not much more in the way of obviously visible skips and speed strategies, but there's only so much you can do in a game like this. For what it's worth, the gameplay was smooth enough to warrant a Yes Vote. Good work.
Thanks. I think I speak for DrD2k9 when I say...we believe this game could be optimized for the rest of our lives. It sorta like chess, where a newer idea is required to figure out a faster and more efficiency strategy. Between the two of us, we just can't figure up anything else...mainly because of RNG.
