Absolutely. When I was judging this, I recommended it for "Stars" ...and it was quickly agreed upon. So...I second this publication.

Yes...what DrD2k9 said. This was the technique that I came up with earlier this year and discussed with the staff on its use. I've done this a number of times on games that are written in BASIC.

Just letting everybody know, we are getting close to being done. This has been a hard strategy to implement, but it is worth the effort.

Yeah, the algorithm for that is pretty heavy. I just wish that it was written in Machine Language...it would have been much faster. This game was the reason i was able to come up with a BOTing algorithm for a future submission that I hope will be soon. It will be the grand finale of the Compute's Gazette games.

Yeah...some drawbacks to these games. I wish some things were different also. Couldn't complain as a child though...3 bucks a month gave me tons of entertainment!

FYI...I am trying to get this submission cleared away. Been having tons of problems trying to get started on this. I think i finally figured out what is going on. Hopefully soon, this will be done.

LGR...this movie is suboptimal. Your 3 stage has a lot of backtracking. I was able to cut 144 frames off easily by setting down all my boxes and going back to quickly pick the "left behind boxes". Check out my changes here. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638372607955244918 This is still not optimal, as I did it in a hurry to prove that the "back-tracking" you perform is slower.

LGR, I have found an optimization problem at the upcoming jump around frame 2990. I was able to improve it by 11 frames. Because this is a short running game, I'm asking if you can fix this. I believe there is one more spot, later on that will need the same thing. My efforts were able to keep myself moving, without having to stop for all the shooting that is required.

Here is something that I don't understand. If you are going to end input early? Why are you not backing off until you can't no more? I just cut 50 frames off of the end. Now consider this, when I did F-Zero...I backed off the last track until the IGT time was altered. So basically, I need an explanation for future improvements...so that we know what the deal is here.
Agreed, I didn't catch it and didn't think of it at the time. I just saved an extra 36 frames, so now it's 86 frames in total. The end input early can be a thing, although the game will prolong longer, but, end up saving time overall. I'll be honest I've done the previous method for so long, that it didn't even occur to me to do this correction instead. Thanks for mentioning it. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638365415788174777 86 Frame improvement File
Ok. Thanks...this will do.

I haven't checked my movie for optimality, I just wanted to demonstrate that console sync is possible. Probably someone should at l;east try to improve before it is used for submission. That being said, I think a movie that is demonstrated to be console accurate should be preferred over one that is demonstrated not to be, it's supposed to be a TAS representing GBA not emulator. I also don't care about authorship, do whatever makes the most sense, I'm only interested in accuracy.

So just to make things clear...I'm not super excited about this submission, but I have decided to start making a complete library of all the TASable games from Compute's Gazette. These beginning ones are very basic, but they get better as the issues go on. If you are one of the followers of this series, you will already have figured that out. Note also that this game was completely done with PETSCII (Commodore's version of ASCII) characters.

I'm done finding improvements for it. Well, if one would be technicaly about co-authorship... While I did already improve this TAS many years back and this submission brought no new info to the table for me, the more logical aspect would be for me to make a new submission with my improvement as a single author. However: The reason why I put the run as unlisted in the first place was because I think this is a quite silly and pointless TAS in general, so I won't bother with my own submission. Though feel free to replace it with my version and add me as co-author I guess. Though then the question is if it should be the version that actually syncs on actual hardware or not? And if so, Alyosha should just as well be added as an author. In any case: I don't care. Do whatever.
Thanks. I'll give this some tought.
