Memory, just so that you know...ever since my "Race Ace" submission, I came up with an idea on how to end input earlier with this game. I've ended it 314 frames earlier at this point, but I keep running scenarios over and over, just to be sure. I suppose this could go on forever, but I'm going to have eventually stop it. So if you haven't downloaded the current movie files, I could replace it...if you don't mind.

My first thoughts was "Spy Hunter". Wow...that was a game that I spent tons of time on. Maybe I should do that version as well.

I had been hoping for a game that had extended cuts like this, but I never expected it from a simple "Type-In" game from Compute's Gazette. :D

Yeah, that was the sole reason for holding off on submitting. I was hoping to come up with something. As I've noticed...most Colecovision games don't control RNG like the C64. In this case, Grog has a mission of his own. I could have turned the corner of his place and lured him, but that would have been longer than the wait at that one spot. Oh well...

LGR...I need for you to take a look at the WR speedrun. Even with your 4 frames improvement, your TAS is not faster. I watched both, side-by-side, and there are quite a few seconds difference. https://www.speedrun.com/adm/run/y4ow1rkz Both are declared at any%...so please help me understand why there is a significant difference. Both runs take a dramatic difference in routing, so if you need to redo this TAS...we can put it on "Delayed" for the moment.

I tend to agree with you. I believe I was given this game by my uncle...so I didn't have the manual. So my brother and I played this for long periods of time and would rarely run across the big city. Now having the internet....I was able to research the strategy's and goals. The only thing left over was to figure a way out to change RNG to get those "Flashing" targets to show up. Because I got the required "Eight" targets before the first "Landing", I knew that I had solved the fastest time. This left me to figuring out how to end input early. Thankfully, the "Start Screen" options had a "Gravity" selection...otherwise this wouldn't have been possible. Thanks for the kind words. Glad to see someone who knew this game and appreciates it. :)

eladogGames...I need for you take a look at the mentioned "user file" from Spikestuff. I'm going to give you chance to cancel your submission, if you are not able to improve on this or work with the existing author to combine your work. Additionally, there are a few things that I would like to have done on your submissions (future ones) 1. Your encodes can be added to the submission field: "Encode Embedded Link". Please use that instead. Some submissions are overlooked by members, simply because they don't see a video for your work on the inital page. 2. Submission notes shouldn't be omitted. These can be helpful to demonstrate your work and clear up questions that members may have.

FistaGames...if I understand this correctly, there are two different types of levels that I'm identifying. 1. Attacking as many humans as possible, within the 60 seconds for each round. Apparently, this time cannot be changed...as the goal is killing as many humans to increase your score. 2. Defending yourself against attacks, which the goal doesn't seem to be time oriented....but is set to complete the goal. Here, it seems that defeating the attacker only helps make the game faster. Correct?

I'm a little confused here. Why are you making new submissions, when we could be replacing your other submission with an update? Can you clarify this? If you want to produce an improvement, it would be better to upload your new file to the WIP/User File area and post it in the discussion thread. That way, our staff can replace it for you.

Can you modify your submission details to indicate what ROM you are using, when applying the v1.1 patch? Your inputs are not working at all, which makes me believe that I'm not creating the correct patch.

After reviewing your submission, you seem to have some concern with where it ends. Here is my synopsis: As long as the inputs complete the loop and brings it back to the beginning of some kind, then you are good. In this case, this would mean you can take that last pit and jump higher so that you can end your input earlier. From my experimentation, it can be ended 10 frames earlier. So your trimmed file, with the return back to the menu isn't necessary. There is no question, in regards to optimization...only how it ends. Someone can come back and obsolete this submission if you don't take care of that now. I've uploaded an updated movie for you to examine. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638216777407005027 How would you like to proceed?

Here is what concerns me.
Playing closer to the top of the screen (within reason of course).
I'm just curious as to why this wasn't done on your remake. In my opinion, this jeopardizes your submission, since previously accepted TASes already do this. I commend you on cutting a ton of time, over your previous work....but this needs to be addressed.

I had an idea that the C64 version could be improved, by ending input earlier; however, the Colecovision version took my attention away from this one, once I improved it. Good job on finding that DrD2k9. Please set to "New", for someone else to judge.

Yes, it is very touchy. Not hit box related, but the Commodore 64 has a built in sprite collision detector for when active pixels touch each other.
