No. Admit it, this kind of thing is fun.

Vulcan Raven down for the count; when asked to comment on his humiliating defeat, he replied, "I need to give my minigun a hitbox next time." Make sure to use mz's new disc-switchable version of PCSX!

Er... But how do you switch discs when you get this dialog? You can't do anything in PCSX until you press "OK". =/
I just pressed OK and it took me straight to the Load ISO box. No hassle, no problem. Though I think you have to load the first disc off an ISO too for it to work.

Also, you *have* to use the drive plugin, since I think you can't switch discs with the current ISO plugin. :P

Hammertime. Go look it up, as Yogi Bera (may or may not have) once said.

Where's the goddamn SOMETIMES option? :( Heh, turns out I'm ISTJ. In reality I'm extremely anti-social when having to physically meet with people, but put me in a chatroom or on a forum though and it's a totally different story :P

Nice hack, excellent run (even it could get a bit repetitive and boring in the midgame, but I assume that's the game's fault not yours). I had no problems with the bunnyhopping. Yes vote.

Sorry to intrude, but could I get a programmer-to-English explanation of what's going on here?

The memory card is in the very first post. I'd appreciate an encode of the entire first disc if you don't mind :)

The CD1 movie uses PCSX9.

Okay mz, I've reached the disc 2 prompt on the MGS run. PLEASE get a disc-switch prompt that can be done reliably through a bios instead of hosting!!!

Progress update: I'm currently doing Wolf 2 - 52m8s at the start of the fight. She's pulling some rule about stingers out of her ass that I've never encountered before. Lucky me! I'll post the PXM once Disc 1 is finished.

The MGS1 TAS is getting pretty ridiculous and I'm not sure whether I want to touch this game again once I'm done this run, so I'll add VR Missions and a pure-speed Japanese run of MGS1 (to beat Zeno's 1:16) to the list. Also,

My grandmother passed away earlier today. I will be sitting shiva for the next week and as a result I will obviously be unable to work on the run for a long stint. If I have the time I will post a .pxm of what I have done so far.

I thought it did something along those lines already. I remember when I did some bad hex editing of a movie header I ended up being endlessly prompted to insert the next disc by the emulator itself.
Were you using 0.0.9? I specifically remember 0.0.7 not having that feature; it relied on hosting the CD by ISO and you couldn't even select your INITIAL CD without hosting it.

Wow. This is all very interesting... Are we going to see a TAS that opens the cover, replaces the disc, and beats a totally different game halfway through? Or did something special have to happen with the game to keep the code running when the lid opens?
PCSX 0.0.7 had a few commands to simulate taking out a disc and replacing it. On one frame you could open the tray, prompting the emulator to change discs, then close it on the next frame. The problem with this is that it relies on the movie watcher having a reliable ISO hosting program that can seamlessly transition between two discs. I've been using Daemon Tools Lite, and I have yet to EVER get the disc-switch to work properly. What I'm saying is that I shouldn't HAVE to rely on something shaky, like Daemon or Magic ISO. The emulator itself should give you the option to go into the file folders and select a different ISO, instead of relying on these secondary hosts.
