I can't believe I got the two encodes to play at exactly the same time. It was like Virtual Boy Wario Land all over again, but with less eye-strain. Yes vote for improvement.

I blanked out a bit during some of the initial cutscenes but I rather liked seeing the ways the different weapons worked. I especially enjoyed the shooting of the reflecting gun into a room to kill everything without going in yourself. Pretty enjoyable.

Lastly, amongst the "no rings" hack challenges, I'd recommend OMG THE RED RINGS, which really provides an extremely hard challenge, and it can't be completed unassisted, as far as I know. It would be interesting to find out if the TAS tools can make it feasible. Ironically the Final Zone is the easiest level in this hack!
I was actually thinking about that one, too. Although Sonic 2 XL seems like a much more interesting game to play in real time, the fact that the "penalties" are one giant entertainment/speed tradeoff doesn't make me too hopeful for a satisfying TAS. I think OMG THE RED RINGS would be better TASing material... especially if someone were able to prove that it's actually, y'know, beatable.

You could always call the 70-minute run the glitched run and this run the "even more glitched run". And bring back the 3 hour run as the "not really glitched run"
I... I actually rather agree with this suggestion...

I actually quite like the look and sound of the game, but Shin-chan just moves entirely too slow for a TAS to seem all that interesting. And the flying sound effect is too loud and repetitive. There were some parts I liked but overall, as a TAS it just didn't entertain. Voting meh.

Pretty interesting. The way in which damage seems to not really affect Ryu was a little underwhelming, but I enjoyed all the boss battles. Especially the clairvoyant look of that porthole battle.

I found it pretty amusing how often Spidey says "I have to hurry!" If anything, what he needs to do is start obeying the speed limit. The game itself seems a little blah but I was reasonably entertained and it was pretty fast, so I'm voting yes. Interesting video size for the encode, by the way.

Wow. I think... that's a lot of stuff going on. Has anyone ever beaten this difficulty in real-time? Yes vote, this was pretty impressive.

Man, what a great game. I played this all the time when I was little, despite never watching or caring to watch the Simpsons. I had no idea that there were so many pair-up attacks (or any, actually). It was nice to finally find out what comes after Moe's Tavern... Yes vote. Really enjoyed it, especially those crazy-strong synchronized attacks!

Rather than limiting the route a TASer may take, I think it would be nice if some other Sonic runs could use the solution from this run's 2nd encode--just making it so we can see Sonic when he goes crazy off-screen.

Man, I totally played this when I was little! (I also totally sucked at it, but hey, I was little.) What a fantastic epilogue. Really entertaining run, easy yes vote.

Mm, maybe not... It's still a short, quickly repeating animation that takes up much of the screen. :x

Awww, even Ganon likes it! ... I think. Seriously though, very nice run, and I definitely agree with Swordless Link that screenshot #2 is the way to go.

No. I've never seen a real woman, so they didn't strike me as odd. Duh.
I meant more in the sense of "why are there pixel nipples in a game boy game" than "hmm, these graphics are rather anatomically inaccurate". Though I suppose the latter is also true...

Personally I liked this one on its own and think that a full run would be dead boring. If in the future FunStyle or anyone else does all tracks then just let a full run obsolete single tracks, but for now I think this is a fine addition to the site.

Was there really no other timing in Fill 'er Up to get past those moving platforms sooner? Would getting the clock over the vine first before the one under the quicksand change anything? It just seems a shame to have to wait there. Not voting until I'm done watching (just wanted to get that question out before I forget) but it's looking like a "yes" since at least the item rooms are interesting enough. So even though I can't seem to recall what part of 2 Marty was forced to avoid an endless stream of clones while collecting clocks I think something like that would make a good screenshot, or maybe one of the times Marty looks like he's been run over by the DeLorean? EDIT: ok this game is seriously way too long, but I'll say yes. Just a few more questions: In hill valley gym, why did you get the clock all the way to the left last? In lucky draw, why is it not faster to go through one column of quicksand and then hop up the over like in fill 'er up? derp you answered this already Why in some object rooms (like rock around the clock) you wait on some platforms when sometimes you just jump up walls?

Wow, Xena, you really let yourself go there... Yeesh. Do the tiny pixel nipples kinda weird anyone else out? But I found this run pretty entertaining, (if baffling) so a yes vote from me.

I actually found the run pretty interesting (well... what I saw of it, anyway. 3rd YT video hasn't been processed or something) once you were in the dungeons. I think the only thing I didn't like was that when you first exited the castle the drumbeat music combined with the way the grass tiles zip by when crossed diagonally gave me a headache, ehehe. Yes, vote from me... and for a screenshot I might like one of the parts where there's text of a whole bunch of traps, or maybe "Leather thongs with barbed hooks tear at your flesh!".

Wow, it's cool that a site has written an article on this: http://gamez.itmedia.co.jp/games/articles/1007/28/news075.html It's in Japanese... The article's title is, "What's this?! Video of Famicom game played super zoomed out" and the next heading is something like "A video walkthrough? Or a new kind of art?"

It's no wonder Gomez taps his foot so impatiently during the credits, considering how he sprinted through the game. Only thing I didn't like were the weird expressions on Gomez' and Morticia's faces during the ending... Eeesh. Really enjoyed it. :> EDIT: Oh wow, and I have enough posts to vote, so yes!

@ wekhter Now I know what you mean. My idea would be that when there is a lot of dialogue, the subtitles would be jammed (at the bottom of the screen) for a reasonable amount of time. I mean, there are hardly any sequences where there is minutes full of continous text, is there? Just make it easier for the viewer to get along with the plot.
Actually, there are. :c There is a TON of text really near to the end of the game (and as such this video is spoilers, spoilers, spoilers, so don't watch it), just look at the length... Flygon's right, if there are subtitles they'd be summary-only.

@Wren: Actually the rules just say that English text is preferred. If a different version of a rom is faster, it's preferred, but not if it's only faster because of [Japanese] text speed. (I know at least one run on the site mentions that it's not counted against a TAS because text speed in a non-player controlled variable...) Though I do think the Japanese version should be used, if only because I think arguing for a fan translation patch is more trouble than it's worth (even though this is probably the best one I've ever seen). Though it's a moot point since the guy TASing it has moved to J anyway, right? @Flygon: same here. :> I'd have figured people who speed through games learn to read pretty fast but I guess not.

Wouldn't it be even harder to read with the Japanese version, since the same amount of English text would have to fit in an even smaller timeframe?
? Kanji usually is rendered faster onscreen than latin characters in many games. But I don't know if faster text speed would be a time-saver in Mother 3. At least the author is starting over with the Japanese ROM now due to improvements in Chapter 1 and 2, apparently. http://www.youtube.com/user/mother3tas The matter about readability is not about how hard it is to read something, because I can't read any of the dialogue even on the English patch.
I meant if there was a Japanese run being subtitled in English, the English subtitles would go by even faster than it does in the English patch version. I've only played the game in Japanese (yeah, I've got the cart in real life) and I feel the Japanese text goes by reeeeeally fast compared to the English version (when I tried out the patch I felt I had to mash A like crazy to get the text at a reasonable speed). I guess I read really fast, though. :| But yeah, the Japanese version would save a lot of time, easily, (even though TASvideos is not supposed to count text speed differences between language versions for or against a TAS...), though I have to wonder in the faster text speed may unintentionally make the Japanese version easier because of the speed of the rolling hitpoints? Has anyone looked into that? Or is battle text already so short it doesn't make a difference?

This movie really put a smile on my face. :> Not only was it interesting to listen to, but the player character reminds me both of Pa-man and of a shark person wearing a donburi helmet. Just as a note: it says "The game eludes to an Otocky 2" but the proper word here is allude.
