Luck manipulation

  • Getting weapon energy and bolts.
  • Enemy's action pattern.
In this game, RNG doesn't change depending on time. How to manipulate RNG that can be manipulated by Rockman's action without waste time is shown below. You can see its appearance at 0x7E00FB (2byte, hex).
  • Hit buster or a part of special weapons to enemy or object.
  • Beat the enemy which have possibility of dropping item.
  • Spread S.Drill once or twice.
  • Use W.Burner in the water.

While it is very similar to the 100% run, this movie was still pretty entertaining. Is it just me, or did the background glitch up even more than it the 100% one? So, voting yes as an improvement to a published run and being well worth the watch anyways.

What are the requirements to perform the quick kill? It seems strange that it's only used twice. Still, looked good. What is it about the Mega Man series that leads to glitched-out runs?

To perform the quick kill, the boss must be damaged just when he has started his charge-up sequence from 0 to 1 HP. However, it is necessary to have a fired weapon active in that room, and lasting long enough to be able to hit the boss. Remote Mine does the trick. The other issue is to be able to fire the weapon in the room. The glitch at Tengu Man allows control of Rockman to fire the Remote Mine. The other glitch at Wily 1 is due to an exploit that allows both a normal shot and Remote Mine to be on screen at the same time, so that the Remote Mine is still active when Wily 1 is defeated. There are also quick kills in the Mega Man 7 TAS.

FractalFusion: I got that you needed to have a weapon active when the boss starts filling his health meter. Presumably only the mine is capable. I was wondering what was required to be able to do that. I'm guessing that normally going through a shutter takes control away from the player until the boss is done with his introduction and health charge-up, but there's some way to bypass that so you can maintain control and fire a weapon; the question is why can't this be done more often?

I suppose there is something special about the Tengu shutter, presumably that because the room is long, you regain control. In rooms that are normal small boss rooms, doing that would only result in getting stuck in the bottom-right corner while walking. However, Burner Man's room is long like Tengu's room, and it seems not to work either. I can't explain it. Only other thing is, it can't be done in Wily 3 Stage, except on the final boss, or else Rockman will be stuck. I can't say for sure how it works, but I'm sure parrot14green and sparky have tried every way to do it, so they should know.

FractalFusion, thank you for explain. My summary about instant kill trick. The two things are necessary for instant kill. 1) Set R.Mine close to the boss. 2) Equip Counter Attacker and it's active. Only the fight with Tengu Man allow for control in boss room. If I try same way to other bosses, character stuck in bottom corner, and it become impossible to continue playing game. Instant kill Wily is realized by other way, using two weapons at the same time, normal shot and R.Mine.
