It turns out that the previous run hits the flagpole in 4-1 two frames too late. this run fixes that oversight. I was not able to find any other improvements.
I also made a console verification of this run.
I made this is dev. build but it also works in 2.5.2, so it's not showing off any super precise accuracy, but I think it's still a cool run to see console verification of.

Link to video YouTube compresses 144p really bad, so here's a 1080p encode.
I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! I decided it was a no vote because 4:59 run is good, but there is a speedrun I saw on the website showing that the world record for warps were 4:54. I think your run was 4:55-57.
Planned runs: Marble Madness in 4 games:
Marble Madness (NES) Marble Madness (Arcade) Marble Madness (Genesis (J/U)) Marble Madness (GG/SMS)[/list:u] Proposed: Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD: regular, camera freeze) Ecco: The Tides of Time (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD; normal mode) New Super Mario Bros. (DS, 100%, warpless, warps, all star coins) Mario Kart DS (all cups, all missions)

This is a TAS record. It's a 2-frame improvement over the previous run, so what do you mean? 4:55 is the NES record.

It's a 4:51.44 by RTA timing.

It's still a useful post. 1-2 in the RTA clips through the wall to the warp pipe, TAS doesn't. I'm currently looking into this to see if it's actually an improvement for the TAS or if the TAS precision makes up for the time spent getting the power-ups.

Oh neat, that's what I get for not doing proper research. Pretty cool glitch there. EDIT: not sure it's faster though, getting power ups takes a long time, make save enough time including killing the pirahna plants in 8-4 though.

That's a pretty damning claim when the TAS in RTA timing is still faster than the RTA WR when you time it correctly. The console verification RTA timed is a 4:51. The TAS file itself when RTA timed is a 4:51.44. It's much lower than that compared to the RTA's 4:54.97. (Image provided was adjusted for RTA timing obviously) I mean yeah obviously compare to the possibility there is a level improvement that the RTA might have over the TAS thanks to going Fire Mario... But please back your claim before you make your claim especially in regards to timing. In other news. GBHawk (in 2.5.2) has a visual bug which is lacking the white screen before entering a level, instead it just lags it.

Looks like it would be faster to get the clip overall, so I'll cancel this one. I can't get the clip to work in 1.1 rev, but maybe I'm just not doing it right.

As far as I've tested, it's only (J) and likely not on Rev1. The run does not sync on that version though, would require everything to be redone even outside of getting the power-ups.

I would think small would be faster... I haven't tested, though. Shame it was canceled.

Spent some time testing and I'm not quite sure what to make of it just yet. The clip by itself is slower (powerups take way too much time), so it would have to come down to how much time the fire flower saves in 8-4. It could go either way, honestly. User movie #67790618666319397 I did make this, though. It's an unoptimized testrun up to the world 4 warp. Currently 149 frames behind the submission, though there's definitely room to optimize (and maybe also to figure out if the walljump in 1-1 underground is possible in the same place as it is in the submission, I couldn't get it but also didn't really spend too much time trying). I might take this to the very end to see if it's at least as close as I think it'll be, but it's also free for someone else to take, optimize, and potentially have #234 on the workbench.

If I knew of a gameshark code for walk through walls, I would test if it's faster to get fire flower or not. What's 234?

Samsara's 234th run claimed for judging, is my guess.
