Game objectives

  • Emulator: BizHawk 2.8
  • Core: NymaShock
  • Input device: GunCom
  • Goal: beat the boss "Lepoediatra" of Special Mission mode as fast as possible
  • Aims for in-game time, at the cost of sacrificing real-time (ending inputs saves a lot of real-time, but it consists in merely truncating the submitted movie, and thus I considered as a superseeded version)
  • Beat the known TAS


  • The faster the enemy disappear, the faster you advance to the next wave or room.
  • Shoot an enemy on the top of the head to make them disappear faster.
  • Shoot an enemy three times to make them disappear even faster.
  • Reload the gun magazine multiple times to manipulate RNG and get different enemy spawns.
  • In some rooms, shooting extra shoots speeds up the game by a frame each. This doesn't save in-game time, but only real time.
  • While keeping in mind all of the above, find the optimal order in which shooting the enemies and reloading.

For the publisher

  • Please use this movie for the extended inputs.
  • Please make the crosshair invisible. PSX > Settings > Crosshair 1 > 16777216
  • Please make an alternate encode that removes the screen flashes.

feos: Claiming for judging.
feos: I think it makes perfect sense to judge this run together with the other two. This branch is the easiest, because it's an entirely different mode compared to [4862] PSX Time Crisis by ThunderAxe31 in 11:01.31, it has the most unique levels out of the 3 Special boss routes, and this route is inherently unique to this boss. Lobby is the only room it has to share with other bosses.

Now I don't think it will be fair to require Moons level of feedback to have those 3 bosses all published, because it's been little to no feedback so far, and it may not look very different and entertaining to the regulars (and future viewers). But it's still mostly because I do believe covering all the unique rooms in those 3 branches by beating the 3 different bosses - is how you can feature objectively different content in Standard.
The current rules don't dictate how different it has to be exactly. The Vault rules used to require at least 50% of inherently unique content, and that requirement got fired along with the Vault itself. These days we aim for what makes sense, and I think having those 3 branches in Standard is the best idea.
