From the Wikipedia:
Mr. Goemon is a 1986 platform video game developed and published by Konami for arcades. The titular character is based on Ishikawa Goemon, an outlaw in 16th-century Japan. It is the first game in the Ganbare Goemon series.
The player controls the titular Goemon, a thief in Edo who seeks to defeat demons in the city. Goemon travels through numerous stages while defeating enemies with a pipe or throwable object. He can jump on enemies to stun and push them off the levels. Enemies charge and grab the character, ending his life unless the player jostles the control stick to break free. Later enemies also have projectile weapons that the player must dodge. Levels feature either boss battles or a pile of gold bars at the end, worth various points depending on the level.
About the TAS:
There's not a whole lot to say about this one other than Goemon loses a frame any time he lands from a jump or from being in the air. I tried my best to minimize the amount of times this happens but some areas force me to jump just to avoid enemies or to manipulate RNG in some way. There's also weird instances where your timing of the jump while dealing with enemies can cause Mr. Goemon to stop all movement until he lands on the ground.
Also I opted to use the Normal difficulty for this game as doing Very Hard just meant way more tedious avoidance of enemies.

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: After reviewing this submission, I have confirmed that this TAS demonstrates clear separation from the WR by approximately 50 seconds. With such a short running game, that is a significant amount of time to demonstrate over human capability. Great job on this!
Accepting to "Standard".

Although the Ganbare Goemon series is fairly well known in its native Japan (loosely based on the real-life "outlaw hero" Ishikawa Goemon, only a few games from the series have ever made it to American shores, most notably "The Legend of the Mystical Ninja" on the SNES. It turns out there's an old "2 Player" publication of that game that might be worth trying to improve as a logical next step. (Wink wink, nudge nudge! :P)

I'm not sure how improvable the SNES game would be, but I have at least one new glitch I've discovered a long time ago: if you press start using both 1P and 2P controllers at the same frame during the Konami logo sequence, the game will think you're at the title screen for some reason and will open the Game Intro instead.
