Fear not, it is just a dream.

Game objectives

  • Emulator: BizHawk 2.11.1
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Manipulates RNG a little bit (random enemy spawns)
  • Uses death to save time x 2
  • Genre: Action?
  • Genre: Adventure?
  • Genre: Platformer?

Plot

The whole plot was only a dream all along so it does not matter.

Game

There are two kinds of enemies, static and random. Random enemies can be despawned.
The main challenge in the TAS is to despawn enemies without losing time.
Jumping is faster than walking, but sometimes we need to walk to avoid a hazard or to despawn enemies.
If you see few or no enemies on some screens it means they were despawned by random player movements.
In the last level candles are hazards so movement looks weird because we try to avoid jumping into candles.
You can probably save some frames or find useful glitches if you try hard.

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: After comparing this to the WR, I can see why the game play here is superior to the WR. Even though I believe the WR could probably be a bit better, this TAS removes all the risky parts that are clearly avoid in the human effort. With about 1 minute and 8 seconds of advantage, I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be accepted. Good job!
Accepting to "Standard".
nymx: Forgot to added the improvement file. Here it. Also, added Induviel.

inconsistent: Processing...

In this game it's possible to manipulate the enemy spawns also by changing input, even random inputs that don't change the character movement, should save some time from less lag and not having to wait at all. I do it in this WIP here I didn't get around to submit. It's slower because its done on the original spanish version, which has more loading and different enemy placement in some rooms (I think anyway). User movie #639170601929138935

Haha, nice! Maybe the submission can be set to 'delayed' for 6 months in case somebody wants to improve the run by some frames? (Not me.) I have not played the Spanish version, so I can't judge whether version difference is significant enough to warrant separate publications. I am okay with Induviel's version being published instead of the current submission, even if the Spanish version loses time on different enemy placement. Harder version is preferred.

Haha, that was a quick job. Well done! You can be the sole author of the run if you want.

I improved on your file so at most I'd get co-author.

I'm not seeing 200 frames of improvement. Can you confirm the file that I uploaded to the submission?
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

There is also a possibility of a nice crash% category, or fastest crash. If somebody wants to do it here's how: It only takes a few seconds of new input. You can use the current submission up to the first item. Then do not take the lamp. Instead, jump over the lamp. You are back to the first screen of the game. You can now jump left over the tree. (You may need to kill the owl to avoid death.) Then jump left again to go out of bounds. The game will now crash with a beautiful glitch. Very nice. One of the most beautiful crashes I have ever seen. The crash screen also shows an end game item, the telephone. I am not sure if any memory address related to game completion is altered or not. It is a nice run anyway, and I hope somebody does it. Very easy to do, just a few jumps.
